Paducah Home Theater
I sold my Pioneer SC35 and ordered a new AVR to use as a pre pro.. I wish it had balanced, but it doesn't Nice. Curious about the balancing though. I can't tell what balanced gets you other than less noise specifically over very long runs. Is there more to it than that? JL Sargent
Interesting that the Pioneer SC-85 utilizes the ESS Sabre32 DAC chip yet doesn't really cost more than a decent DAC that uses the same chip?

A1UC
To get the best sound out of that dac one needs to use the bal outs if I remember correct your pio does not have this . I used my W4S with a Onkyo that had pure direct and bal inputs
A1UC
A killer setup would be to grab W4S preamp I had it worth every penny it has HT bypass Edited November 27, 2014 by A1UC
Schu
frankly... there isn't much in the wyred line I would buy besides this DAC.Maybe the music server, but I DON'T network my music at all.Not sure I completely agree with the balance need...
