  1. Yep, looks like fresh shipping damage. I once bought an amp form forum member Rusty Melton. It took me about 20 minutes with a box cutter to actually get to the amp. I think the amp could have survived a drop off my roof. It was padded, boxed, padded and boxed again. He did a great job.

  11. Hey John: I have a set of KLF20 which I modified but I have been working on my brothers Heresy lll for the past year and a half or more. I have also been experimenting with Karlson K-Tubes mostly with my new to me EV1506 and EVDH1A drivers. I have some CF3 parts but I don't plan on doing much with them right now. I have been spending time with a new bicycle attempting to improve my physical condition. As long as the roads are clear of snow I can keep riding every day. Best of the season to you also Moray James.

  13. You'll owe it to yourself to do theRF-7 resistor mod at a minimum or go all out and have DeanG give the crossovers the full massage once you get set up.

  15. The KG.5 is a great sounding little speaker, add a little sub and you have yourself a nice system. Should be a big upgrade over any polk audio product. Make sure all the drivers work good before you fork out the dough.

  16. Thanks, guys. I think I will counter with 140 and see what he says. I'm not desperate for these, but they sound good and would liven up my living room.

  17. Rudy, Fair market value, not a steal by any means, so he isn't trying to rip you off, but he isn't doing you any great favors either!! You could get that same setup on ebay for the same price but you are saving the shipping. Roger

  21. Swap speakers, if the noise follows, then, the problem is the speaker; if not, then, most likely an amp or wire problem. I think he's isolated it to one speakers. He can swap drivers from one cabinet to the other to be sure.

  23. Trying to fine tune it JL, Sony 16-50mm lens, not macro but it focuses real close, single flashgun, different color backdrops. Timing seems to be the key. The "splash" goes thru lots of phases, catching it just right is down to luck somewhat.

  27. When you buy anything, and I mean anything, try to arrange a phone conversation. Discuss packing. If it doesn't arrive in the way agreed upon in the conversation, don't even bother pulling it out and plugging it in -- just send it back. I hate eBay, I refuse to even bother with it.

  28. hey John: the efficiency of your loudspeaker is determined by the lowest efficiency driver in the system which is the woofer in this case. Cabinet type does not have any impact upon driver efficiency which cannot be changed. Al Klappenburger told me once that the Fore ll is a solid 95 db efficient system. There are many methods of calculating room gain and so system efficiency but I think that 99 db is over optimistic for a Forte ll. The output of most speaker systems will roll off very quickly below 100 Hz and the given efficiency numbers can only be realistically expected above 100 -150Hz. You can enhance your low frequency output by placing the speakers closer to the wall or the corners. But your system efficiency is set in stone at around 95 - 96db for yor speakers. This is actually a very respectable value by the way. Cornwall is a little higher probably a couple of db LaScala a couple more. To achieve effiency levels over 101 db will require a lot of large bass bins and amps to run them. I hope this helps and I hope that you are still enjoying your Forte ll. My son is enjoying mine and my daughter a set of modified KLF20. Best regards Moray James.

  31. OB's a man with a great love for some of the finest things in Creation: Porsches, Klipsch Cornwalls, Scott tubes, and '60s-'70s Rock and Roll. All good things, and the love of them, come from one source. I'm praying to The Source, through His Son, that He will use Rob's deep love to implement His Divine Love and bring about a rapid and complete healing, until all things are made perfect. Agreed.

  34. We have also had a few emails with him and yes he is a really nice guy. He was always concerned with how we were doing and if we were taking care of ourselves, we had also talked about paying him a visit one day, looking forward to it OB, would love to meet you in person. We really hope he can turn this around, and like Bisamuel said " Still praying to the big guy for a speedy and complete recovery ".

  36. Harry-- THANK YOU for passing our best wishes onto Rob. I don't know if he's able to read the forum or not; but, thanks for filling in the gap. He was the first forum member to invite me to his house (my wife dumped me after 26 years and rob offered to open up his home if i needed to get away for awhile) never got to take him up on that offer as I live on the southern california coast. But just knowing that our conversations on this forum are much more than just conversations with strangers. It is guys like Rob (and many others here) that make this a special place--I'd to say a Band of Brothers; but, that one has been used already.

  37. Like Harry I have become very close to OB (Rob) over the years now and he is a very proud and private man. For those of you that remember he went through quite a spell this time last year and we were in constant contact through phone and personal emails. He is strong but our prayers can sure help. For someone who seems very cantankerous out here you would never know it to actually speak with him and he always has something good to say to you. We almost always talked family and our children and our hobbies always seemed to matter not. If and when I here from OB or his family agin I'll post but until then all our prayers are going out to Mr. Rock 'n' Roll
