  12. Coming up for air. Worked all weekend on converting AK from vBulletin to XenForo. Still needs tweaking, the re-indexing the search database and helping a few members with login and permissions. It should all work out over the next couple weeks. Glad to see everyone still posting along and keeping the faith. Ya'll have a great day.

  13. Thanks - it is still a work in progress. A couple weeks and it will all be dialed in. Just had to get away from vBulletin bloatware.

  28. A little off topic, but who better to remember cool things that are gone but the Klipsch group here. I'm sure you guys can come up with better things, but this one has had me stumped for decades. This one is for the older crowd, but why did the Marathon candy bar disappear ? It was awesome. Like a braided belt made out of caramel dipped in chocolate. They even had a ruler on the back. It was king of candy bars friends, and its now gone.

  29. That's funny, because when I was younger people used to make fun of me when I threw parties, they said when you came to the door I gave everyone a roll of paper towels and Windex and said have fun.

  30. The NRA is just a lobbying front for the arms industry. So, nothing much has to be said there. Arms makers want to make and sell more arms. They give NRA a pile of money, which NRA uses to bribe Congresspeople. Nothing important to be said. Our entire system is based on this formalized bribery. Congresspeople are not complicated. They want to stay in office because it's the greatest job in the world. It takes money to stay in, so whomever has the money is a friend to the congressperson. We need to get much deeper than that to understand our gun obsession. We get what we want, so why is it we want this? It obviously creates a massive benefit somewhere, right? It does create a massive benefit. A small number of rich people get massively richer, at the cost of the lives of the people they claim to be helping.

  31. Believe it or not, there are countries where few people have guns, except for police and criminals, and yet life goes on. Some people even have to be reminded to lock their doors. If you have an emergency in the middle of the night, like being injured in a car crash, you know you can knock on almost anyone's door and get help, not get shot through that door by a paranoid homeowner. There's almost zero chance that an elderly lady will be shot and killed in the middle of the night when she returns from using the toilet, because her paranoid elderly husband thought she was an intruder and reached for his bedside gun. There's almost zero chance that a mother shopping in a grocery store will be shot to death by her toddler in the shopping cart who reached into Mom's purse, pulled out her handgun and accidentally discharged it at her. There's almost zero chance that a little boy will kill his brother because they found their paranoid father's bedside gun and were playing with it when the little boy accidentally discharged it. How many times a year does that particular tragedy happen? Did you notice that the word "paranoid" cropped up several times? Consider a country like Israel, which is surrounded by larger countries that have vowed to wipe it off the map, where suicide bombers go to markets, or get on buses, in a frequent effort to kill as many Israelis as possible. Those Israelis have very good reasons to be paranoid. And yet, you'd probably find more Texans carrying sidearms than Israelis. The world is a scary place sometimes, but it's not as scary as the NRA would have you believe. Their ongoing efforts to put a gun in every pocket or purse or bedside table or home vestibule or car or RV have made America a far more scary place than it used to be, but it's still not as bad as they'd like you to believe. In addition to the large number of accidental shootings that are the inevitable result of having guns in the homes of large numbers of citizens, along with ease of legal purchase of guns, mass murders are now much easier to accomplish, because it has become so easy for people with grudges or mental problems to get their hands on a gun, or several guns in many cases. In many ways, the NRA is the problem, not the solution.

  33. Morning Gang Seems asprin works pretty dam well for me, little pain and great sleep. Dentist ask me, you want a script for some Oxy based pain killer? No Doc, i retired with zero addictions, except Scotch i cannot afford (likely a good thing). I used to say that about speakers and look where i ended up I have some locals gathering interest in the McMs, Forum member(s) interested and within state. Could be just a rest day, or could hit the farms, coffee, another cup or three, then decide.

  34. More than anything I miss the whole record store experience. I don't like the new MP3/iTunes/YouTube a-la-carte situation. Yeah it's easy but vastly unsatisfying. I like to have a hard copy. I like to look at album art. I like to listen to the full album start to finish as I believe most good albums were intended. I like a physical copy that won't disappear with the stroke of a delete button. The records isn't what I'm after, I liked doing this with both cassettes and CD's. I like doing it with movies as well.

  35. I have had those, they are great amps. It is probably due to be checked out, it could easily still be above spec. They weigh a ton. Do you have a good honest and competent tech there that can check it out for yiu, replace the switch?

  36. How about Dog and Suds drive- ins. Also DWILawyer they still have slot car race ways and slot car tracks. I love going to slot car track with someone who always plays video games. They have a hard time adjusting to real world. I got 40 year old slot cars that still go FAST. Another thing you might think is gone but its not are Alladin mantel lamps. They produce a lot more light and heat in case your cold. I have a few of them. In 83 power was out for a week we kept warm and lighted by them. Also had loud tunes from Klipsch Heresys hooked to battery powered boom box. That got a lot of looks from people walking by..lol.. Rick

  38. Believe me, these people love to stir the pot. I spend plenty of time in the Emotiva and Klipsch forums and they each have their own group of in-forum bashers. Funny how that works where these people have nothing better to do than stir the pot. Drop a dig here and there and watch people get infuriated. Too bad they cannot find a forum that they feel comfortable in where they can actually assimilate instead of instigate...

  43. The Enduro. All dual-sports of the last 30 years (with exeption of the Honda XR series) are based off motocross frames, but not everyone is Jeremy McGrath. I get it. Progressive linkage, mono shock rear ends are the norm, but that doesn't mean ALL of them have to have two feet of ground clearance, four foot seat height, and be sprung for monster table tops at the X-games. A decade ago Gas Gas made a fantastic bike called the Pampera 250 that filled the void left by the Japanese. Just like the old enduros, it was loosely based on their trials frame instead of their MX frame. An incredibly technical machine. They want to bring back retro motorcycles? Bring back the quiet, tractor-like, dual-sport that everyone can actually ride.
