  1. What do you dislike? Is it the quality of the brew or the demonstration of surface tension? FWIW, I agree with jimjimbo about the waste aspect of Keurig. Convenience comes at a financial and environmental cost. To be clear, I'm not criticizing Duder, or anyone else, for using things that are convenient. albeit environmentally suspect. Other than environmental zealots. such as Ed Begley Jr., we all pick our environmental battles. No one, even EBJ, is without some environmental sin in someone else's estimation. Peace.

  3. This, of course, hits the nail squarely on the head. I am still at a loss as to why this was ever pointed out. Something must have happened to give rise to this point. Exactly, I tend to believe in the Red Bull school of thought as they are one of the companies that really understands how to capitalize on "content" of their fans across many media platforms. I see Red Bull embracing content, not running them off. I'll always remember Red Bull more from our flugtag homemade flying machine over anything else. I tend to believe that maybe in understanding the marketing value of content is where Amy's marketing expertise really benefited the forum the most. All I can say is I'm glad I'm not the one who has to manage this nursery school.

  4. IMHO Keurig's should be damned anyway....several European countries are banning the pods because they are a serious pollutant. I agree.

  8. Mark threatened to defecate on my boss' desk if I didn't delete his account. How's that for being a hero? And then he emailed my boss twice and even sent a letter to our legal department complaining about the BS forum afterwards. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. As long as I'm the admin here, he's simply not welcome - regardless of his past "content". Guess what, after I banned him again last week, he sent me an email declaring this forum "dead" and even had the gall to insinuate that he tried to "save it" with his new account and his new all-important "content", while also complaining about our VOLUNTEER moderator team that does its best to keep the rabble-rousers in check per our TOS (nobody's perfect, indeed).... Meanwhile I know the real stats and we've actually been gaining activity steadily the past 12 months.

  9. "Raigeki" is a Yugioh card. Yugioh is a Japenese card trading game. The card reads: "Destroy all monsters your opponent controls." The thread had "turned personal" long before page 12. I wanted it locked. How did I do? People should be applauding the fact that Mark was able to have final say on what happened with HIS intellectual property. For this he's villianized? Mark is a prolific writer, no pithy posts from Mark. You ask a question and you're getting the thorough and complete two page answer. I once suggested to Mark that he save his posts and write a book covering a range of topics. Mark enjoys teaching. His preferred method is challenging established and often incorrect paradigms. Though he could sometimes make it personal, the goal was to get the person to dig a little deeper into their brain. He once called me "a Bronze Age goat herder". Oh yes, I was upset, but that thread resulted in me completely reaccessing aspects of my belief system - and I ended up the better for it. I still don't know if Mark was banned or asked to have his account closed and posts deleted. No one is perfect. I guess no one here has violated anything in the terms of service? No trolling, baiting, veiled or blatant personal attacks? When it comes to violations, I would consider Mark to be very low on the list of offenders. I think the one obvious trolling incident was an act of curiosity for the purpose of gauging the health of the forum. "How will the remaining brain trust respond?" Man, I totally get it. My last two emails were from people asking me to help them get to earbleed listening levels without causing earbleed. Mark was being dragged through the mud for several pages, and my few posts were met with instant antagonism. The thread was locked as soon as I decided I'd had enough. I guess I'm not part of the clique anymore.

  12. Is everyone else experiencing really odd weather? I know a few on here are from the midwest. It was 66 Sunday, then 52 yesterday, now it's 38 and going down to 24 tonight, rain, sleet and snow later today. I know the old saying…."if you don't like Indiana weather, hang around it will change"

  14. To be clear that yacht floated ashore. That guy hasn't been underwater? No doubt the salt and air could cause that affect. If you've ever salted meat you've seen how. All the major news agencies carried the story as well. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/02/29/mummified-body-german-adventurer-found-inside-yacht.html

  17. Cause the Romans couldn't count..... I'd prefer 13 @ 28 day months plus an extra day for celebrating the new year... Cause it takes ~362.25 days to orbit so each year we 'lose/gain' 1/4 day therefore every 4 years add a day to the calendar. Why Feb rather than like during summer

  19. OMG, I thought this was something I wrote right up till the end. I set my commode base (twice) this weekend. The first tine, the floor flange broke . I noticed it was cracked slightly and warped from over tightening when I pulled it. Just another day in the life of a remodel. When I did the master ensuite, I had to put a slurry on the floor since the PO had added on to the house via the covered porch. Had to to slurry to level the floor. This caused the need to cut out the original flange in order to raise it level with the new surface. What a pain to cut out the pipe and install a special flange to fit inside the original 4" pipe! Love those plumbers saws made to fit in a drill motor for cutting pipe from the inside.

  21. Mark has a selective memory. His post that said "Who's desk do I need to shit on to have my content deleted" is gone because well, he wanted his content deleted. But several others saw that post and can hopefully remember and back me up. I know I didn't just imagine it. I have nothing to apologize for.

  22. I understand! However, for the record, a properly designed tube amp can provide exactly what you stated!!! I'll go back and hide in the Talkin' Tubes section now (I appreciate your indulgence. When I hear the word "tubes" it gets my attention instantly ) ........... Maynard

  23. Each to his on but Klipschorns/La Scalas/Cornwalls/Belles without tubes is like a day without sunshine. For my enlightenment, what is it about the tubes/K-horn combination which you found unsatisfactory? I ask because my experiences through the years have been the opposite. Do you recall what kind of tube circuit (such as single ended triode, push-pull pentodes, etc.) was used in the amps you listened to? Maynard I'm a very simple woman. All I want out of my equipment is excellent sound and reliability. I don't want to hear anything but the music (not even hiss if at all possible). And in the specific case of tubes, I don't want to worry about heat or replacement. I want to turn it on and have it do what I want it to do for years and years and years.

  24. He was banned only after It was proven that JoSteph/MrCatsup/JimNaseum was indeed Mark. No kerfuffles were harmed in the making of that decision. imagine the forum bitchfest if we banned someone based only on circumstantial evidence. i'm just glad we focus our patience, understanding, and goodwill on things that matter like the availability of spec sheets for deprecated models.

  25. I actually saved a thread from the BS section in which a picture was shown of somebody defecating on the American Flag. Mark's response was "it is no big deal. it's just a Flag." I rarely get upset with anything on this forum but I was dissapointed and upset with that comment. It was then I realized I had no business over there.

  28. I'd recommend First Watt FET amplifiers (i.e., Reno HiFi)...either used or you can DIY from the diyAudio forum. I believe that these amps will appreciate vs. time. These amplifiers use almost no, or no feedback at all, and the fewest number of gain stages possible, so you're avoiding the higher order harmonics of the feedback SS amplifiers and the other distortion associated with multiple gain stages. I use an F3 and I'm a very happy camper - it has essentially one gain stage, i.e., a Darlington pair per channel. All McIntosh amplifiers use output transformers (SS and tubed) so their sound will be "darker"...whatever that means to you. If you like old Mark Levinson amps, then you might also like an older M1.5t (restored/refurbished) Carver amp, since it was designed to match the transfer function of the old ML-2 amplifier. Chris
