  1. Ok I have to admit the reason I never drink gin, it's about as dumb a reason as there could be, surprise. It started a very long time ago, in high school one year on the last day of school someone had a bottle of gin. I would guess it was stolen from a parent and was probably junk ? They passed the bottle around and everyone took a shot, like a dummy I took a big shot, it was terrible, really bad and i never forgot it. Now i realize at 18 years old and stupid, and drinking something like gin from a bottle is not really a good way to understand the flavor to judge it for the next 41 years. But that taste must have made a big impression on me, I have tried many things since but never gin. I have only had two different kinds of martinis, a few chocolate martinis at different times with dinner on ships, and Carl's martinis in Hope. That's my only experience with martinis.

  5. These have been sold locally, thank you for all of the interest and the kind words. As you can see from the labels on the original boxes, these beautiful raw oak Chorus II’s were made specifically for Judy Klipsch, as apparently she had ordered a pair of all current production models to be manufactured for her, and then stored in Hope. They are matched together, as is also indicated on each of the labels, and they are considered a historical product, absolutely one of a kind. I acquired these almost 3 years ago, fully intending to finish them, but they have never been out of their boxes, until today, for photos. No finish of any kind has been applied to the cabinets. They have been kept in a dry, non-smoking environment. Here is a rare opportunity to finish a pair of classic speakers in the color of your choice. They are absolutely pristine. I handled them with white cotton gloves removing them from the boxes so as not to get any oils on them. Grills, passives and drivers are perfect. And yes, they even come with badges.... Everything is (as you would imagine), completely original and stock. Manufacture date 1996 They come with the original boxes and all original packing materials. I would only consider shipping these if the purchaser were to fully arrange and pay for that shipping to your destination. I would be willing to drive a couple of hours from my home in the South Bend, Indiana area to meet. Price: $1900.02 Serious inquiries only, please PM me with questions or intent. Thanks very much.

  6. Pretty much caught up now. Loved the shots of Lake Mich. I took my one and only trip there as a kid in my early teens. Stayed at Crystal Lake which is close to Lake Mich. Beautiful country. Colorado is gorgeous, but in a different way. Spent yesterday goofing off and watching football. Also saw Mark Wahlberg's 'Deepwater' movie last night. Highly recommended, especially on HT. Good day for this retiree to stay put ... maybe 5 inches of snow so far and it's still coming down. Won't really relax until Better Half Unit is home from work. Cheers guys.

  12. Can't get rid of the above tag from Chuck Ab3 Waiting for the refrigerator guy to show up. Third time in a year it has frozen up and now registering 50 degrees. Good opportunity to take everything out, throw some away, and clean the inside. Almost done. Went to doctor yesterday for URI and got some prednisone, and cough syrup with codeine, and a Pro Air inhaler. Feeling a bit better with much less coughing. LF on her way with ham bone and lentil soup Took two R2Rs to a tech about a week ago. He is about and hour and a half away. The cost for routine repairs is about what I paid for the decks originally. Must face that this could be the last rebuild for these guys.....will be a sad day as I have owned one for 43 years (Teac 3300S). Haven't tried the Bloody Mary mix from Mark yet. No taste buds firing. Cheers Gents....

  13. ^^^^^ A chocolate martini is not a martini, would qualify as flavored drink only. Similar to a Starbucks double mocha, frape', caramel, whipped creme hazel nut vanilla latte with almond milk over shaved ice with a sprinkle of chocolate cinnamon nutmeg served in a 16 oz. paper cup ain't no f'in cup-o-coffee. Now I Could tell you about the office party where I had my last martini's, double most of them but no need to embarrass myself - again, first time was plenty.

  17. I think Det just needs a few different Gin's, made different ways before dialing in on perfected flavor. Took me years before Bombay became the standard. although there are a couple runner's up.

  18. oh yeah--my office was just up the Grand River a few hundred yards. you’re right--people think lakes are glass -- you can can be out there and not see land in any direction, and i’ve been in at least 20’ waves on Lake Michigan--it’s just like the ocean. Also been on Michigan and Superior when frozen from shore to shore--back in ’78 - ’79. And yes @Ceptorman ship was breaking ice that was very thick. 1000’ ships stopped dead in their tracks. it was fun.

  21. Just wanted to introduce myself & say hi, from an old guy of 53. Joined the US ARMY & served in Kaiserslautern Germany from 1981-1984. They had these things called "Audio-Visual" clubs/stores on some of the bases. In their speaker room, they literally had hundreds of different speakers, all hooked up to the same source. I quickly got on a first name basis with the speaker room people. Because I drove a semi-truck, i got to frequent a LOT of different Audio-Visual stores. I talked them all into putting a few chairs in their speaker rooms, so people like me could go in, sit down, eyes closed, & listen to all kinds of different speakers. Every single time, I always picked out the Klipsch as sounding the best. As I educated myself on speakers & stereo equip, I also discovered some of the tricks that certain places would play---in order to make up for the shortfalls of their products, including/especially speakers. Speakers that lacked in low end were set on carpeted hollow sub floors. Ones lacking a bright high end tended to be showcased in a room with hard floors & so on. Most of those were manufacturer specific---NOT the A/V club employees. Yet regardless of environment or placement, the Klipsch delivered the sound BIG TIME. So, I ended up leaving Germany with a pair of Klipsch Heresey's & a pair of Klipsch LaScalla's. After a few years of pissing off the neighbors, I did one of the few things in life that I regret. I donated my Klipsch LaScalla's to my High School Music Department. I could see myself getting arested, because i like my music loud & clear. That was 33 years ago. Since then, I have gotten married, had 2 children (now grown & in College), worked a career & just retired from it. I have no idea if the High School still has them or if they disappeared after someone "retired" over the years. I still have my Heresey's & they are still rocking my house. I just purchased 4 Klipsch bookshelf speakers & put them in my garage. For little speakers, they rock my garage. Neighbors have already "mentioned it", LOL I am a life long Klipsch fan & if I lived in Hope Arkansas, I might see if I could work there, doing something. I am a BIG fan of the "Made in the USA" Klipsch products & have probably sold quite a few over my life, just by letting people listen to mine. TwinStick

  23. http://jtrspeakers.com/home-audio/orbit-shifter-lfu/ Looks like a good option but its unnecessarily large for home theater usage. Danley has good options. Have a THTLP custom made to suit your taste from local builder.

  24. Yep I get that alot, once I even had to type in Klipsch and go with that link. I thought it was maby my bookmarked link but no after a few tries it worked. I have no idea, it's above my pay grade, which fortunately covers everything, i'm barely expected to pay attention, hardly even do that.

  25. Aaron if you have the room get two orbit shifters. I have tons of bass head friends around here and all of them have told me dual orbit shifters is insane. From 20hz up it would take like 16-20 of what I have to keep up. If you can afford them money and space wise that's your path I'd say. And jtr subs will CRUSH just about everything out there. Probably some of the best commercial offerings out there unless we are talking other huge horn offerings. If not the OS pair I vote for the S2's. I've heard them many times. They are insane. I know plenty of guys who own pairs of them and desire nothing else bass wise. And the cool thing for them is they aren't huge boxes at all

  26. Sorry my bad. I was taught the part about Watt and swallowed it to get it right on tests. Remember this was way before the internet, I'm an old geezer. Apparently P = IE is a combo of Joules Law and Ohm's Law: Resistive circuits In the case of resistive (Ohmic, or linear) loads, Joule's law can be combined with Ohm's law (V = I·R) to produce alternative expressions for the amount of power that is dissipated: where R is the electrical resistance.

  28. Morning gang 35 and as usual, feels like it. Yet another "River from the sky" due in wend thru next week. Finely got the heater rebuilt and installed/working in the Rv. Upon enjoying the heat, i discover a 55Amp 12Volt Converter as part of the breaker panel, and of course it's fried. Got it on the bench, filthy/dust/dirt/cooked bugs. $118 on the Bay for a new unit, but im going to check this critter over, board level componets are right up my ally. Well i shopped for a newer fixer, i got one. will not complain, just Bi otch a lot.

  32. I got into the DIY community a few years ago when I wanted a project to work on with my son who had joined the Air Force and was leaving for Germany for four years. I was in at the level of having no tools or woodworking skills, but I discovered flat packs were available which were precision cut with a CNC machine and it was expertly designed with heavy bracing and pre-cut baffles already routed out. All I needed was glue, some clamps and then paint. Right up my ally. I enjoyed the experience and the sound of my DIY speakers and subs rival that of the very best Klipsch speakers that I own. DIY is not for everybody, but it was fun and now I like to do a project every year. It beats my having to buy Christmas presents every year for the kids. SEOS Fusion 10, VTI 18" stands, Onkyo 717, Klipsch RW-12d, and some kind of fake flowers.

  35. That second pic looks similar to scene I experienced up in Grand Marais Michigan about 10 years ago. We were snowmobiling up there. The temp was WAY below zero, the wind was howling, everything within 500' of the shore was covered in ice. In some spots the ice was as much as 20' thick. It was so cold, windy, and wet it was actually scary. It was like the sea was consuming the town. I remember thinking that these folks up here are pretty resilient and tough. We usually stay around Munising, but always ride at least once to the lake. The Mackinac area is another destination. There's something appealing to me about those lakes. I've never been up there in the summer...I know I should visit.

  36. I hear ya Rog.... I too feel there is the "true" heritage line of speaker.... Khorn, LaScala, Cornwall, Bell and Heresy..... and then there was the so called extended heritage line: Chorus, Forte' and Quartet.... I can see were the marketing of this "new' speaker is riding on the back of the heritage name..... does it piss me off??? no not really.... It's made in Hope by American workers...... and that means a lot to me.... If it was made in China and still called heritage that would be some serious sacrilege! I really hope it's a hit on the market.... That's my 2 cents.... MKP :-)

  40. Big +1 there. I totally agree. Prior to 2005, the traditional arguments in this regard tended towards holding water. Since then however, things have gotten murky....and recently even more so. Blanket statements can no longer apply to a product where combinations of on-board DSP, sophisticated noise shaping, and novel amplifier topologies are involved.

  42. Roger. I hear ya bro. We appreciate your respect. But you know, PWK was a Great Audio Engineer. He was even better a combo of a business man and a Great Audio Engineer. There were some great audio engineers in his day...competitors and such...who could have been be on par with the "Smarts". However, this man...this Legend....could land big speakers in your living room and generate profits. That made him great. Klipsch has all kinds of higher ups....business minded ... that we forum/Klipsch lovers could far from understand. But PWK would want Klipsch to continue to "Land" those speakers in your living room. Big or Small with names that "sell". Technicality....I guess. I hear your voice and you certainly have an honorary point. But....I seem to be more excited than I have been in a long time about Klipsch. Call Forte III what you want..... What I call it.......... Is a new Home Audio speaker that will land in my bedroom as soon as it is available. cheers jc

  43. Another suggestion is to angle the RF-7ii inwards slightly so that the horns are aimed slightly behind your listening position. Play with the angle as you will find sometimes moving them 1" can make a huge difference in your soundstage.
