Out shopping with my 16 yo (almost) son who had his first "date" this past Saturday. He decided worn out jeans and faded shorts needed an update. Try to find slacks in 26 x 32; found a couple. Of course Mom had to weigh in that we were spending too much just as she and 13 yo (almost) daughter arrived with bags in hand...again. Rib eyes awaiting grill temp (charcoal ALWAYS), baked taters, corn on the cob and some garlic bread tonight.3 points

BINGO Pulled the tweeter horn just now and Red post was loose with the wire hanging. Checked the driver and 7 ohms, so should be good. Seems weird to me, but the wire that was loose has about an inch of blue shrink and is tied in a knot (not tight).2 points

First I would say that response is not really that bad! The dip has been pushed up by Audyssey because it looks at the average of the measurements and groups them and tries to correct for major issues. Somewhere around your MLP you have this dip, and it was measured multiple times. When correction was done it seems to have moved up that area of the mid-bass in order to create an overall average that fits where it should be...so there is a dip, but it's not dipping 12db below the average line...which is what is almost for sure looks like without Audyssey. So try 2 things. First, with Audyssey off, measure the same places you use with Audyssey with your microphone and find out which measurements have this dip to begin with. That is a speaker placement/broadband absorber issue. That will show you where the problem is. You can even run each speaker individually to find out which one causes the problem, or if it's both. The other thing you can do to see what is causing that dip is change your crossover up and up and up as high as you can and watch the response, and see if the sub(s) at those positions overcome the issues of the main speakers. That again tells you it's placement. As Chris says, you can test the speaker up close to be sure the speaker design you made does not have a native response dip. But you mentioned also earlier that another set of speakers had this issue. If placed in the same locations and you listen at the same place -- you have an interference issue without a doubt. Whether it's the front wall (my guess) or the ear height (Chris's guess) you can find out with some testing. That dip exists in your space, and so when you measure and don't see it, it leads me to believe that the other measuring positions have this dip...and the MLP does not. So when it corrects all the positions based upon grouped averages, it decided to move this section up a bit in order to remove that dip. The response really -- again -- is not terrible by any stretch. But if you want it gone, realize it's not Audyssey, it's the room and setup and speakers. Audyssey will happily make a smooth graph when it can. To measure just one spot, measure that one spot. If Audyssey requires say 3 measurements minimum, then leave the mic in the exact same spot and simply repeat the measurements. Then you can see if that response is flat. If it is, realize that Audyssey is doing it's job....making a space more flat, not one position.'1 point

Yes some regrets. First things that come to mind are an almost mint Luxman R-117 stereo receiver and a behemoth Denon DCD-3520 CD player. Both have obtained "legendary" status in their own prospective categories and they should have never left my home. I too know both new owners and know they are currently deserving the love and respect they deserve. Bill1 point

I have done the cabinet overlay to several La Scalas the most recent pair being my own after removing the top section which is basically what you are working with. I have used contact adhesive, Tite Bond three and Gorilla Construction adhesive(which has replaced PL for me). Regardless of the adhesive I always try to achieve 100% coverage(not as important with the construction adhesive). whether you use a brush, roller, trowel, putty knife, etc. I have used my air nailer and brads or screws, but I always use some type of fastener. In the end they are just basically clamps for whatever adhesive you use. Gives me peace of mind as well. There are other ways to hold the panels in place while the adhesive cures but you cannot keep working using these methods(vacuum bag, clamps, etc.). After the adhesive cures I use my router and flush trim bit to remove the overlap on the newly added panels. I have got to say I am really starting to like the Gorilla Construction Adhesive. It is gap filling, strong as all get out, easier to compress than PL and any squeeze-out at the joints is easily removed with a putty knife after it cures for several hours. I brace the cabinet wedge style x 2 inside the dog house at midpoint as Richard mentioned above. I have made my own and bought braces from both Dave and Greg Roberts. They both sell grille frames as well. I have had rolls of both black and brown Klipsch(Duracrest)fabric for many years.1 point

In the lush, green hills of northern Thailand, a woman painstakingly picks coffee beans out of a pile of elephant dung, an essential part of making one the world's most expensive beverages. This remote corner of Thailand bordering Myanmar and Laos is better known for drug smuggling than coffee, but Blake Dinkin decided it was perfect for a legitimate enterprise that blends conservation with business. "When I explained my project to the mahouts (elephant riders), I know that they thought I was crazy," the 44-year-old Canadian founder of Black Ivory Coffee, which uses the digestive tract of elephants to create a high-end brew for coffee connoisseurs. Initially, he considered using civet cats to make "kopi luwak" coffee, which uses beans collected from the droppings of the Asian cats. But the quality of the end product has weakened as demand has grown in Southeast Asia — including in Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Civet cats are also often kept in cages and force-fed beans, a chasm away from Dinkin's desire to support rather than damage the environment. Lions and giraffes also made the shortlist of prospective coffee filters, but eventually Dinkin settled on elephants after discovering that the creatures sometimes eat coffee during periods of drought in Southeast Asia. He also teamed up with an elephant rescue charity which saves the creatures from the tourist trade. But making coffee from pachyderm poop was harder than expected. "I thought it would be as simple as taking the beans, giving them to the elephant, and out will come great coffee," said Dinkin, adding that the initial result was "horrible" and undrinkable. "It took me another nine years to actually succeed in doing what I wanted," he said. Now that's fresh roasted coffee1 point

Um......... if you adjust the feet levels on them the doors will pretty much close by themselves. Y'know lower on the rear and opposite the hinged side of the door. And I think modern vehicles are designed to fail. They are better engineered in that the timing of the failure occurs 5 days after the warranty ends and that's good engineering.1 point
