  2. PM sent. The people who have the CF-4 and CF-3 just rave about them. The design falls into my wheelhouse since I like 2-way designs and I like the D'appolito MTM arrangement. I have my modded CF-4's paired with a 15" sub and the accuracy and live sound is as good as I've heard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midwoofer-tweeter-midwoofer

  5. WoW Mike that looks awesome. What movie did you all watch? It was more of 1/3 on trampoline, a 1/3 in the game room screaming C&W karaoke and 1/3 watching utube music videos outside all in rotation.

  7. Yes, happy Birthday Jake. But really good for you Tarheel, you did a very good thing by bringing Jake home and taking care of him like you do.

  8. I happen to own a pair of Rivals. I know nothing of the forum issues with Greg alluded to here. To me the Rivals are by far the best speakers I have owned period. Seems like the folks here who have actually heard them have positive reactions. The ones that haven't resort to personally bashing Greg. Pretty bush league if you ask me. Like Justin said - to each their own. And what I say " I like what I have and I have owned a lot" Josh

  10. For all the race fans, you need to get the nbc sports app if you have windows 10, or for mobile either nbc sports or the America's Cup app to watch the semifinals for the challengers this week. If you can stand to wait for just the challenger finals next weekend, they will be back on TV.

  12. Smoked pork butt finishing up soon. Started it last night after the rain stopped. I'd give you the pulled bone if you were here Jake. Regarding the weather, it's been a wet week, featuring some real gully washers. Feels like the old days in Seattle except it's warm. Summer is just around the corner though, back to the oven. Just harvested some beautiful wood ear mushrooms, might be the last until fall.

  17. Something about the pics bother me. The Right speaker is deliberately cut off where the badge could be seen. Also no pics of the sides, and the top pic is blurry but all the other pics are sharp and clear? Could be innocent bad picture taking, but for the top shelf price of $600 I'd want better pics. Heresy pricing is fairly consistent with good ones going for $400 all day long, but there are exceptions. This particular one from 1968 would be the highest priced H1 I've seen.

  25. Measurements themselves might not lie but you can misdirect (unintentional or otherwise). Using different scales, showing measurements of speakers in your room instead of in an anechoic chamber or at least outside, or omission of relevant factors can all affect the apparent results. People do it with statistics all the time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Lie_with_Statistics On another note, I'd love to spend some time developing skills in some of these shops!

  26. I picked up some very nice KLF-20's on Monday and finally got a chance to give them a good listen tonight. I think they may be my new favorite music speaker. Next step: Crites diaphragms and crossovers, inspect baffles (although they sound pretty solid)

  28. I looked into those a long time ago, there is a lot of people online who do this, whole neighborhood block parties in many cases done like this. As everything else, some went to the extreme with size and sound, but it does look like fun.

  31. Congrates on your new KLF-20's. They look awesome!! I have yet to own any KLF series Klipsch..... well I do own a KLF C-7. But I would love to get some 20's or 30's someday to go along with the C-7. Right now the C-7 is paired with a set of Forte's. Me too!! Most of my amps are of the Carver line that has meters or the strobe meters, there both cool imho. I really like the old Carver amps, tons of power, run cool all day long.... and imho drive my Klipsch like few amps can. What i mean is...... I bridged two Adcoms to drive a pair of ChorusII's and then switched too a Carver TFM-55. The 55 blew the Adcoms out of the water... not just talking about volume, but the Caver made those Chorus hit way harder in the bass dept. Don't know how much power I was putting into them while using the Adcoms.... but it was way way loud.... like too loud... The Carver's power meters were jumping way past the rated 375 watts.... like close maxing out the headroom of the amp. Again loud but the chest thump was way harder using the Carver. Anyway enjoy your new KLF's ....... very nice looking... MKP :-)

  45. Split was great... the first and second acts of the movie were dry and unrealistic in as far as the acting of the victims. The third act was outstanding and reconciled the entire storyline... the fact that the story ties in is more than just the icing on the cake, its even more than the cherry on top... it's magnificently conceived and quite exciting to think what the next part to the saga will behold. We have unbreakable... we have the horde... we have Mr. Glass... what will the girls name be???

  46. I can't agree more about cabinetry you mentioned. I'm into speaker business in my own country and I just tried myself to see if I can build something similar to Volti when it comes to woodworking. with all the limitation in Iran - no paper-backed veneer, no veneer glue, no vacuum press I just had to invent everything from scratch! - I did it and the result turned out to be liked by just everybody here. building a Bruce Edgar type of horn is piece a cake (check this out: link). and building a folded horn by mixing a Belle and LS with a curved side is not that big deal. I did it to prove this could be done and here is the result: and now I have a more efficient way to laminate plywood to form curved panel and I can build a pair of these in less than two weeks actual working hours but I'm not gonna do this. I'm not gonna rip off someones ideas even if his idea is a rip off of Klipsch designs. but I guess we still can comment on the price right? I don't think putting together a Faital Pro 15PR400 with a BSM4592-Mid behind a wooden horn and a Faital Pro HF10AK behind an 18Sound XT120 elliptic horn and using a XOver from NRE and putting everything in folded cabinet Mark Kravchenko did in Hornresp is a big deal if you ask 4-5x of the real price. Maybe many of you are not aware of driver-making companies price lists. I do business with most of the European companies like Faital Pro, Beyma, B&C, BMS and some others but not mentioning the price details something like Vittora could be built for about 5000USD in my country with all the craftsmanship and all the drivers Volti uses including labor cost and everything. how about a version with a single piece curved walls from right to left? Rival is not an exception. it's a Cornscala with a little bit of cosmetics and high heels. You can still build a speaker using Eliptrac horn with a BMS driver and use some nice woofs and a tweeter like Faital Pro Hf108 or HF10AK and for about $2K you'll have a great speaker. just my $0.02
