  3. I'm off work today. I need to take 10 more days before the end of February or I'll lose them. Gonna try to get some things accomplished around the house. I have some nick knack little things to do to finish up the bedroom remodel like door handles on the French doors and one more threshold to put down. Just got done mowing and stopping by to say hi.

  9. Not yet But yes here since birth. After college I packed my 68 Mustang with everything I owned and headed to California with a college bud. Took I-40 out and I-80 coming back four weeks later. Guess I'm a home body. Speaking of Charlotte that's where winchester (old forum bud) lived. Wonder what happened to him?

  10. @ftgf I haven’t had exactly what you are asking, but I did go from RF-280’s to Forte III’s. I use a RC-64II for the center because I needed a horizontal speaker for center in my setup. I’m happy using that center. Also, the center works to put your tv on top of. I have a 65” on the RC64 now. It was a jump up going to the Forte’s versus the RF-280’s for movies. The Fortes have more range with the midrange horn. When using the Fortes for movies, I set the AVR to large for Left-right speakers. The reason I did this was the Fortes have a lot of bass in 2channel and I wanted to utilize this in movies since I only have a 12” Klipsch R-112SW sub. It rocks the room set like this. I do have a pair of RP-140SA speakers for Atmos duty. I don’t really get the Atmos effect too much in movies. I moving in a few months, so I’ll mess more with my Atmos setup then. I have a pre and 2 channel amp with home theater bypass for music. When I watch movies, I use an AVR. The left right speakers are powered by the two channel amp and the other speakers are powered by the AVR. If I would be you, I’d keep the Fortes for your left right speakers. They are a step up from the 280’s and work well for movies and music. The Fortes have more range and the bass radiators make a difference in movies too. Just my personal opinion, but others I’ve had over share my opinion. Best of luck on your future setup! It looks pretty awesome now.

  11. From the different versions I've heard I don't think you are going to hear any difference between those assuming they are functioning properly. Slow down and get your caps replaced. One of the mistakes I have made is changing multiple things at once. Make a change and live with it for a week or two to get a feel for it before you do anything else.

  12. Don't worry about the "badge" issue, all that matters is whether they are "Klipsch" or not. 8 ohm is preferred, which is what was used with the Type AA crossover network. Tell the seller you want DCR readings from a multimeter. This will confirm 1) that the diaphragms are good, and 2) what impedance the drivers are.

  14. We had a drive-in in Wilmington kind of like the one on Happy Days with waitresses, trays attached to your window....It was called the Miljo which is short for Millie and Joe....the owners. Folks from the 1950s to mid 1970s fondly remember their young days cruising from the Miljo to the beach and back. Anyway I started a web page/sub group on FB which has grown to about 190 members. A smaller group meets every Friday for breakfast. I had so many request from ladies to join that I started their own group Miljo Girls which now is just shy of 200 members. Anyway...it's something to do. Keeps me off the street.

  16. wow. i don’t think i’ve had breakfast with 16 people in my life. I can amputate all of my fingers and toes and still be able to count the high school friends that i am in contact with. Not that i wasn't liked or had trouble getting along with people, i just moved away and never looked back -- i think they did the same. I’ve never been to a reunion either. about a month ago i tried to reconnect with an friend, only to find out that he died 10 years ago. good for you for having a large group of friends.

  17. First observable snow of the season; flurries in the air, snow on the Spartan flag and snow on the roof — but then again, I’ll be 69 on Sunday, so that’s to be expected. Time to buy gas for the snowblower. Now did I change the oil in the spring, or do I need to change it now? I’ll solve that mystery as soon as I remember where I put my memory pills.

  20. So another good sounding record that doesn't necessarily qualify as rock `cause this band is a little bit of several genres fused with genius. Andy, Stewart & Sting

  21. More in line with what Genisis fans here might like. A band from a while back that was interesting. You folks ever heard any Saga? Digital LP in 1982.

  25. Yes, be careful. You could loose 0.000001 % of your signal if you cut it. As an aside ... never understood why some people buy $100 speaker cables. Somehow I think I am going to hear about this comment. I use standard 12/14 gauge cable. Cheers, Emile

  31. Turntable porn,,,,,, Picked this up today from Craigslist. Seller was a fun guy that had a setup he inherited from his Dad. He had photos of him with the stuff when he was a kid. Sorta cool. He had one too many Thorens TD 160 turntables so I helped him out and bought this: Mark

  41. As per normal - OT is correct. I've found that for each one inch difference in L-R speaker wire length I need to rotate the balance control approximately 1/8 inch to compensate. There is a mathematical formula to calculate electron speed through various cable metals but I won't bore you with the calculations. Suffice to say - just cut 'em even!

  43. They MUST be the exact same length. Also you will need to count the total strands on the left AND right wires to verify they are the same on both sides. A little cumbersome but well worth the effort......

  44. Im using 12 gauge now. Same wire I bought when I bought the Epics back in 1996. Have some Nakamichi banana plugs coming Monday and will probably replace the wire with 8 gauge.

  45. I use forte IIs at the corners with an academy center. With more room I would put in a forte center and rear. You should go with a timbre matched set to get the best results, either all forte IIs and the extended heritage line, or the other for movies, HT applications. Definitely keep the forte II's though no matter what.
