  1. Hey all, Hope all you guys are good. The BOSS and I are good.... same ol' same ol' stuff. Well I must say I am much better today that I was a week ago. Last Wednesday I had cataract surgery in my left eye and I was FREAKING out too say the least!! Like most I am really freaky about the "eye" thing... Well all went great and I can see so so much better. I was at the point I was unable to drive at night. About a year ago I was complaining about not being able to see real good while driving at night. There were huge halos around all light. At 1st it wasn't that bad but got worse quickly. I went to get my eyes checked at Walmart. They did there thing and I ordered glasses. At the time of examination I was told I had "slight" cataract in my left eye. I'm like....... ok. Well when the glasses came in I was not not real happy.... couldn't see a whole lot better but I dealt with it. But within a few months I knew something was not right. So I went to a "real" eye doctor. Within 90 seconds of his exam he says "oh your way beyond glasses you need surgery" 20/400 in left eye! He stated I had fast growing cataracts. I feel the Walmart doctor should have sent me to a eye surgeon right from the start!! Anyway all is good.... I can see..... and I am thankful. We're getting ready to roll out and see the surgeon so he can release me to go back to work. I need to say this again....... I am thankful..... very thankful Take care my friends... MKP :-)

  11. I figured if Dirtmudd quotes himself it can't be that bad, OK bad example. Thought I might need to qualify what I said above. On a ship, food everywhere, bars with almost anything you could want to drink, and nothing to do but relax. PLUS plenty of women walking around in bathing suits/bikini's, all in a good mood because there on vacation. OK to be fair some you might not want to see but still.......

  18. RIP Bob Glidden. The fact his accomplishments were achieved with race cars built in a small shop behind his house in rural Indiana makes them even more special to me. His story of how he needed to quit his job as a mechanic at a local Ford dealership to have the time to go race full time and the impact it would have on his family if he failed is a great representation of the man he was. A great man, an even greater family man and one of the fiercest competitors there was when he put on that helmet. Glad I had an opportunity to meet and talk with him.

  19. Glad your vision has improved and I hope you learned your lessons about using Wal-Mart Drs. Try not to use Wal-Mart's proctologist either. His office is in the garage by the lube rack.

  35. The Loki is a very cool gizmo, although you will lose about 37% or your credibility in the audio geek community if you use one (simply don't tell anybody). I've had mine for a couple of months and am sort of amazed at how quiet it is…I do live sound mixing mostly for "boutique" (smallish venue) shows and have become too familiar with all sorts of EQ items over that last 5 decades or something (musician also, seemingly forever) and when I run into a thing like this it makes me feel the world is working properly somewhere. I have the typical "purist" hifi rig…not even a balance control anywhere, and my only tone control is the level on 2 subs, but the Loki is absolutely transparent and has well thought out band positioning…the "mini" designation has me assuming they're gonna make a larger version and hey…I might have to get my "Knob Turner" on for that one too. Well done Schiitheads! I also own a new Freya and it works well also.

  38. I think I will have a definitive conversation with the klipschorn seller to see what the final price might be.. if it's close to my ideal of $4000'ish, I might just go ahead and get them. They are only a few hours away from me and would be easy to get as long as they are in the described condition. I believe the seller is under some pressure to move them. If seller can't or won't deal, I am going to continue with my original quest of getting jubilees with veneer. I do think Jubilees represent an incredible value for performance and have always been my goal in as near future as this year. However the year has passed and I think I am very very close in the first quarter of next year. I would love to have jubilees by my birthday in late February. This entire thread was driven by the fact that I found my second best choice... a 60th Klipschorn, hence the immediacy of the subject about the choice between the two. As I said already in the thread, I am very happy with my current setup and I know I would be much happier with the Klipschorns... with Jubilees I would ecstatic. One other thing... if I do end up buying Jubilees, it will be the first NEW pair of speakers I have ever owned.

  39. Sparty is in at #2 this week both polls, and getting some attention for #1. My Mountaineers cracked the top ten this week. They have a few more patsies to play until Big 12 action starts. They have top 25 Big 12 foes Kansas, OK and Baylor on the schedule plus they will play Kentucky. WVU has enough good teams in front of them to move up if they keep winning.

  43. Just finished a mid century modern console table. Started with a sequential serial number set of Klipsch Cornwall speakers ($1500-$1800 online), Walnut veneered in a waterfall style all the way around, finished with 8 coats of 100% pure tung oil, cured for two weeks then hand polished. I currently have these hooked up to a Sonos Amp, that receives TV input or Apple Music etc. It sounds amazing! Perfect for that MCM Audiophile who has everything...almost. Dimensions 71.5 X 16 X 31 3/4
