  1. Same here, seen many other legends but this one was an accident. A long time ago I was in a bar in New Orleans called Rosie's up town along the river on Tchoupitoulas st. The music went off and they made an announcement, anyone want to see the show go to the stairs and pay $10 so i figured why not. The bar was upstairs and was a big open room underneath for bands, I went down and walked up to a table pushed up to the stage, it was just a room with tables and chairs. I sat down and a minute later a man walked up and asked if anyone else was sitting at the table and I said no. He sat down and we started talking as the room started filling, I told him you look familiar but I don't know your name, it was Allen Toussaint. This was quite the surprise, So I asked who is playing tonight I have no idea, he said B.B. King, I almost fell off my chair shocked, I thought it was some local band. He noticed I was shocked and laughed and said were good friends your in for a treat. When BB came out he pulled his chair right in front of where were sitting and played and talked with Allen the whole show, 6' from our seats. It was the best and most personal performance I have ever seen, and for $10 plus a 100% accident.

  3. Ive been to a probably 200+ shows, a high school friend worked at a record store, tickets were easy to get. My one choice for legend status would be Led Zeppelin, 1977, I was in the 8th grade.

  6. We just had two gas ranges delivered to the duplex we're rehabbing. It was all we could do to persuade the delivery guys to just leave the stoves in rooms other than the kitchens while we worked in the kitchens. They didn't like not installing the anti-tip brackets. I assured them we would not use the oven doors as ladders or occasional seating.

  10. @DizRotus Neil, I can see how to the casual reader, such as a MSU grad, the title might be complex, confusing and invite a laundry list of every event under the sun. However to the well trained eye like a UofM grad, lets say, the devil is in fact in the details. One must read the entire post and comprehend its content. They key being in the final paragraph. PSA, UofM and MSU are both public universities. Not sure what they have in WVA. Home schooling in a one room outhouse I am guessing....kidding! I'm kidding.

  17. Sitting around being bored while out on sick leave, I decided to do a little upgrading to the ol' turntable. Lately I've been exploring different cables for the stereo, so I decided on buying a new tonearm cable to replace the old Monster cable I knew wasn't that good. I went with a Jelco unit to match my Jelco SA-750 arm. While I was at it, I replaced the headshell with the beautiful rosewood headshell also from Jelco. Last but not least, I awapped out the stock base for a sturdier base from a company called Ammonite, out of GB, also known as the "Shuggie" collar. Results are very impressive to say the least! Hard to tell which upgrade is most responsible, and I was far to impatient to do one at a time. So, for about $350.00 I have a much better sounding vinyl system!

  18. Work is slow right now so I figured I’d check the responses. For future reference, if I ever respond to anything here and if it sounds rude or whatever, that’s not ever how it’s supposed to come out so don't take it as any sort of divisive attack on a member here. I type the same way I talk to my friends, usually sarcastic and waiting for a smart *** remark back because that’s how we talk to each other. Sometimes I read my texts and wonder how others would take a response and now I know the answer. Anyway, point is I haven’t read any of your posts I just saw what seemed like several posts on the same topic in different categories and after I started to feel the extreme obsession you had in finding these I thought I’d give you an insight from someone who has a pair and maybe grab you by the ankles out of the rabbit hole for a bit so in the meantime while you’re waiting for a pair to come up, that maybe you could try another pair that are as good or better. In response to your point about anyone that has them not wanting to give them up, idk, I have enjoyed mine for a long time now but in my opinion they won’t be my end-all speakers, I just have a hard time letting go of ANY of my speakers. But after several moves over the years they only really sounded great in my last house on the long wall with 12 ft ceilings and after countless hours playing with location and angles and different receivers and amps. And then I had to move to the current house that has no room for anything until I finish the basement which sucks. The only reason I keep mine are because it would be too hard to find another pair if I decided I wanted to be nostalgic and get another set. When it’s all said and done I’ll have my kp-456’s morphed into kpt-942’s and that may very well be my last speaker set...until I find jubilee bass bins...then THAT’ll be it...not really though. See my point? Lol. Keep up the search and you’ll find them. I’m on the prowl for some k-402’s myself so I fully get the non stop search so someone doesn’t get them 1st. But when I saw people sticking up for you and after rereading my post (which I wrote half asleep on the couch because it was a cold, rainy day), I realized how quickly a sarcastic post turns some people into taking sides and turning tribal, and diagnosing every detail, it was ultimately just to put a little birdie in your ear and get you thinking of all the other alternatives until you do find a pair. The 4’s do come up, just not often. I’ve had alerts setup for years on these and I get emails on every pair that comes up but rarely. But in my opinion, if I didn’t have the Epics and a I saw a pair of nice 4’s and I also saw a really nice pair of La Scalas or Khorns, for instance, and I had to buy only one pair at that moment, it would be either one of the heritage line all day long. They are just awesome sounding. The draw to the 4’s is that they’re rare, not sure why either because the Legends come up way more often and are similar for the most part. Maybe they didn’t make as many of this series? Idk. Anyway, good luck. You’ll get your pair, just be patient. They do come up on occasion.

  19. Bruce Springsteen Little Rock May 1976. 600 people in attendance despite Born To Run already released and charting, and he had been on both the covers of Time and Newsweek in the same week. No matter, he proceeded to burn the house down for three plus hours.

  20. Yessirre! The direct metal one is my first and just like I've read the mid and high range is prominent. Forte IIIs with my setup have an outstanding sound stage, but this LP especially Vital Signs knocks it out of the park with emphasis on the sound stage!

  23. Gonna have fun this week! Got one replacement for a fave that is worn out, it's a direct metal mastered heavy one with a tshirt thrown in. Then the start of my own King Crimson collection that I never had. Supposed to all be the original cuts, had two/thirds of their 80s on a well recorded cassette but this is much better! Mike, you and others posting the tunes here reminded me of what I hadn't experienced in a long time! KC on bigger speakers than these pc ones.

  24. Rich, If I felt compelled to follow your directions, I would have had to choose which one of the Byrds was the most legendary, which would have overtaxed my geriatric brain. On second thought, I should have just said Dave Brubeck and quit while I was ahead, but then you would have missed the photo of Ali with his zipper askew. If we look at the totality of the thread, the use of "Legends" invites a plural response, does it not? Legends You Have Seen Live?

  25. A couple years ago when I bought my KG 4s through Craigslist the guy gave me a nice pair of Yamaha bookshelf speakers for free with them. They sound really nice but they had been sitting around for a while collecting dust. So, I decided to throw them on Craigslist. Listed them this morning for $25 or best offer. Got a call a couple hours later from a guy who was interested in them. I called him back and told him he could have the speakers for free. I didn't want to list them for free since I figured I'd get tons of responses from people just looking for a freebie. He was very surprised to hear that. He stopped over a few hours later and it turns out he's disabled in a wheelchair and wasn't able to text me (like I listed in the ad as a preferred contact method) because he can't afford a cell phone. He thanked me over and over again for giving him the speakers. Made me feel good.

  32. Good question. I think it has a dash after it. The different cap value is for a 700 Hz. midrange Xover point vs. a 400 Hz one for AA, but at the same intensity/impedance as a AA, so the same tap. IOW, only the Cap value is different.

It will be a few days before I have time to install components. I am close to the end. My motorcycle frame is to be back from the plating shop next week. The lift will be available just in time. 34. Are you bi wiring the speakers then? If not and you only have one of the red and one of the black inputs on the speakers connected you're only powering either the woofers or the tweeters, not both. The bottom inputs are for the woofers and the top inputs are for the tweeters. The metal jumpers need to be in place or a wire connecting red to red and black to black.

It is the first time that the pipe organ was utilized for the entire score ! Organ is at Temple Church England.........the organist was perfect for his playing and selection of the stops for the written score... Rear cover artwork....
