  2. I'll snap some of the next brew. I don't really find it as expensive as audio/video gear or bicycles and surely nothing like owning a boat. You are approaching the hobby as I would if I had it to do all over again. Kegging off the bat is genius and going one and done with brewing kettles is the way to go. I can't tell you how many different stainless pots/kettles I've had over the years. Off the top of my head 3 gallon, 5 gallon, 7 gallon, 15 gallon, 26 gallon and 30 gallon. Some get repurposed into something useful but if you can bite the bullet and go big you can always brew smaller batches in the larger vessels. Too bad we were not closer, I have a 14 gallon heated/cooled conical that never gets used since I moved to such large batches. Just about as impossible to ship as khorns. I was transferring beer to my smaller kegs for the SPD parade coming up. Snapped this quick picture below of my dispensing unit. It is a 1961 Perlick model. When I got it, it was infested with ants and all but falling apart. I put a new floor in it, tore the back completely off of it and rebuilt/reinsulated everything except the stainless skin. Replaced the cooling "thing" on the inside...I think it is called the evaporator. The outside "thing" (condenser I think) is the only original part from 1961 except the stainless body. I got ahold of a commercial outfit that does all the work for the Baltimore Ravens beer stands and this old seventy-some-year-old dude came to put the refrigerant in it. He got all choked up and nostalgic about it, told he how the new ones at the stadium last 2-3 years at best. A few weeks later; out of the blue he stopped by again and gave me a vintage faucet wrench with Perlick engraved on it. Said he had had it for about as long as the unit was old and wanted me to have it. Hard to believe a kegerator could bridge the generations. Originally it housed three 15.5G kegs and had 3 towers/faucets. I had the twin T-Towers made to my sepcs to dispense 8 beers. Only 4 on tap right now. Last tap is nitro. That is why you see the two tanks on the left. The first 4 are empty, thus I need to get brewing. Some of my awards from brewing comps on the wall. Almost ever proper glass as well. Just about anyone that visits with a Y chromosome thinks this thing is fantastic, while all the women look at my wife, roll their eyes and say "really, now guess what my jackass is going to want".

  3. Now I KNOW where Carl's Jr gets their "turkey" burgers they call chicken. I thought it tasted funny. Wild turkeys strutting through the drive thru. There was actually two and you can barely make out the tail of the other sticking out of the black car.

  4. Yep. Sometimes it costs more to repair something yourself. We fix a lot of previously fixed things here.

  6. Hold up, please STOP trying to talk all the Northerners into moving South, if they all figure out what they have been missing they will all want to move. We don't have room or would want them all down here. They talk funny, have no real idea about seasoning food and just weird, please stop. It's true, I've been up there, the food sucks, it freezes and people are stranger than here, wouldn't blame them for moving, but just stay up there the snow is wonderful. I'm not talking about you Dirtmudd, this was about the others. For anyone else from the North that this may offend, it not you it's the others. just kidding maby

  7. So after working at the same retail jeweler for almost 20 years, last October I put in my notice and quit. Lots of reasons why I wanted to leave that I won't get in to. Fortunately I was at a point that allowed me to not work since then. I have to thank my wife for stepping up and going from a part-time to a full-time position where she works. She just happened to be accepted for her new position the last week that I worked. I'll be 43 in May. Mid-life crisis? Maybe. I've been able to spend a lot more time with my family, including my Dad who just turned 86 and is in poor health. Also was able to visit my father in-law almost every day at the VA where he was recovering from major back surgery for a couple weeks. Had the opportunity to spend two weeks in Mexico visiting my sister who lives there. Also have been able to spend significantly more time in a volunteer work that I love to do. I've completely eliminated any and all stress in my life. I had no second thoughts, nervousness or reservations about leaving my job. I've been looking for a new job that will allow me to balance time with work, family and the volunteer work that I do. I think I found one that will be perfect. It is evening office cleaning. Some may say that it's a huge step backwards from the Senior Sales Associate, Appraiser, Timepiece Specialist and everything else I did where I used to work. I see it as a step forward. I went from great pay to no pay to 1/3 pay if I get this job. You know what? I'm way more excited about it than I was looking through all the Monday - Friday 9-5 jobs out there. If any of you out there are in the same situation that I was, give some serious consideration to doing what I did. I won't ever regret what I've been able to do the last 5 months and look forward to what I'll be able to do in the future.

  8. I did not really like the occasional floor plate with the new Klipsch RF-7 III so I mounted them on Viablue QTC spikes. I think this is a lot nicer and consequently irregularities in the floor can also be easily adjusted. Which in my case was necessary and not possible with the supplied floor plate. The sound, incredible! I have Klipsch Forte III aswel as Klipsch Palladium P-38's and these really stand on their own. I really like them, incredible punchy and open. No matter how hard you cranck them they remain very smooth to the ear. Top speaker

  11. nice. gotta love that. what happened to people who are willing to pay a fair price for goods or services rendered? I have a couple folks I do business with almost exclusively where I trust their judgement & recommendations, and usually tell remind them of that when I say "ok, go ahead. call me if anything changes, or when you're done"

  12. My favorite are the ones who bring their car in for repairs. They OK the diagnosis fee, you check it and you give them a quote. They then get mad and want the repair done cheaper than you quoted because they've already spent hundreds of dollars having it fixed somewhere else.

  14. Never understood that either, were on the same time as Indy. That's really true, most days I seem to have plenty to do, if not I make up things to do, it's how we ended up with a tiki bar in the yard and a home business. But I can work from home listening to music drinking coffee, of course the pay is MUCH lower but I don't have to even put on shoes or leave and I can get up whenever I want. With most things I either fix it or ruin it, with cars if it's not easy I don't try. Shade tree mechanics should not work on cars today, way to much is tied to a computer. If one part fails the computer tries to make changes to other things to fix the problem. If you are not positive a part is bad don't just start changing out parts, it could get real expensive fast.

They did sound nice...... Sure I paid $750.00 for a pair of Chorus II's....(my expensive pair)......the M6's did not sound 100 X better. George

  22. You might do what others have said and do some adjustments on the EQ. I'm not familiar with the 995, but it shouldn't be having the trouble. If the issue persists, the XO's are a good place to start. Regardless the XO upgrades will benefit you, especially if they're RF-3's and not 3 II's. If you want to avoid spending money though, start with tone adjustment, then look at throwing money around.

  23. I find my activities dictated by the old car. Needs a water pump. Wife came home telling me the power steering went. I open the hood. The serpentine belt is off. I put it back on. Start the engine and it came off again. Put it back on and grab the pulley on the water pump. It wiggles. not a big job. Not overhead cam. No turbo. No supercharger. All I have to move is the water bottle for the coolant and pull 6 or 7 bolts. Don't need special tools. Just 1] 3/8 drive ratchet, a short extension and a 12mm socket.

  35. On a furniture dolly here when I was picking it up. Its mich bigger in person than I thought. Reminds me of how I first felt when I seen my Rf-7ii’s the first time. My wife and I drove up to pick it up, I never have to worry about WAF with her bit she did think it was huge. I was so excited my mouth was moving a mile a minute I couldn’t stop yapping. Jeff and I were loading it into my truck and I had it at a weird angle and I heard a pop and wound up ripping a bicep tendon from my shoulder. Not exactly how I wanted the day to go, but about parr for the course for someone Murphy’s Law seems to follow. I was honestly afraid to look at it because it felt so weird. I didn’t look at it till I went to bed and seeing that my bicep was hanging down toward my elbow. Surprisingly not a lot of pain. Despite all that I definitely hooked it up that night after my one of my sons and three of his friends wrestled it inside and down to the basement. Felt guilty not being able to help and just give direction. it’s in a resting place right now not sure if it wind up there . Not ready to give any type of review at this point I have not been able to spend a lot of time with it. I did however, throw on a few movie scenes just to see what she could do with some basic calibration. I have three words that come immediately to mind... Holy S@#t balls!! Can’t wait to see what today brings, it will be the first time I’ll be able to spend more than an hour with it .

  36. One house I used to stay at years ago was really bad. It was out of town and pretty much surrounded by rice fields. My wife and I would pull as close to the house as possible and shut the engine off. You could see the air start to move around the vehicle as a swarm would envelope the car. We'd run as fast as we could to the house with key in hand for the front door all the while keeping your mouth shut as to not get any mosquitos in there. It wasn't always that bad of course but certain times of the year were brutal. It's nothing like that in town as they spray by air and truck. When I would run in the evenings and a truck would see you , they'd shut the spray off till you passed but you couldn't run out of the cloud fast enough to suit me. Don't get me started on fire ants.....................

  37. I don't own Cornwalls, but my two cents.......experiment with placement. When you find the sound that YOU like, leave them alone! If someone tries to tell you you're doing it wrong, tell them they can shove their opinion where the sun don't shine! In a polite way of course!

  42. You would need an AVR with pre-outputs to connect to the R-28's, and then either a third R-28 or passive center for the center channel. You may or may not be able to use them wirelessly too, but that'd require more gear. The powered speakers like these were not designed for home theater applications.

  43. No. When I was researching reviews of Marantz (I was pretty dead set on buying a Marantz this time) I was disheartened at how often I read about odd glitches or issues. This is not scientific at all, but as a potential customer I was turned off. Last thing I want to deal with when spending that much on a new AVR is to have down time and dealing with warranty repairs. As I said it was probably not enough of a reason to discard Marantz but I didn't see nearly as many (or any) complaints with the new Yamahas. Perception is reality, regardless of truth

  44. Assuming you're talking about the Forte III's in your list, go ahead and wipe them with lemon oil if you want. The effect is only temporary. Watco Rejuvenating Oil is another popular option.
