  1. My late wife was as outgoing as anyone I've ever met. She would talk with strangers as long as it took to make a connection to the small town she was from. I remember us going to a get together and her talking with a lady from Yugoslavia who spoke very little English. Julia must have chatted with her for thirty minutes and probably left the lady wondering "what just happen"? Funny that Julia had a nephew that was just like her and then there was his brother who was as socially awkward as anyone you could meet. Trying to figure out how those two peas from the same pod turned out so different. The outgoing brother was scattered and always laughing and maybe not as intellectual while the awkward brother was smart, MA in Russian History, and worked for the FBI. He always made me cringe seeing him stand by himself at a family gathering, hands in his pockets, and deflecting attempts at small talk.

  9. What a day yesterday was ! We headed to 20 minutes away from our home to meet Guy and his wife. Guy was the main distributor for Klipsch from the early 90's to the late 90's in the UK and he was residing in his apartment with his wife now in retirement, and occasionally selling off some old new stock. I thought that I would be doing a quick transaction but Guy was an absolute gent and deeply in love with audio and Klipsch speakers. This came from having him meet Paul Klipsch and the family at a conference, afterwards he started a journey of audio having been disappointed with his DJ set up and speakers in the UK. He went searching and then found Klipsch in his opinion to be unbeatable, something that he felt was a love affair that had never let him down. We were treated to his Heresy Speakers II running through an Exposure amp which was in true audio salesman way the greatest welcome, he talked through his love of collecting music and searching for the perfect sound dropping in occasional numbers, amp rates, db settings. He showed me his catalogues, prices lists, folders of Klipsch information, the price of k-horns in 91 and how he now has two k-horns in Ireland at his countryside retreat. His wife advised 'well he could be in to worse things'. We got the speakers out which had a tiny scratch on, as a result he knocked £75 off, he did not want me to leave without having heard them. So we trialled them, got them out the box which were brand new - checked the serial numbers etc. As a result, I left with two Heresy speakers - over joyed and happy, also feeling like I had found a bargain. At home I opened the speakers up with Kamasi Washington - Truth (this was the first music I heard on Klipsch speakers just over a month ago) and then went into Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven and various soul, disco, soft rock and funk records. Incredible. I then listened to War - City Country City and couldn't stop grinning, something that also happened when Guy played me some instrumentals at his home, a grin wouldn't leave my face and my girlfriend said the same. Next steps for me are the following: a new amp, whilst my amp is holding up well I feel a new amp will bring some more fidelity to this. My knowledge on amplification including the technical side of things and what to look for in the design/description and abilities I have little knowledge on. Is there an idiot guide to audio anywhere ? I played some more low end music and felt whilst the sub isn't really needed for home listening, again, getting one wouldn't be a bad idea - the bottom end is slightly hidden but it's no biggie at the moment. Also as my room is so small, the sweet spot is actually a foot or so down from where I sit above the speakers. I am going to get some stand of sort, Ikea in the UK have a table which would work - or something similar to this would also do I feel. https://www.ikea.com/ie/en/products/tables/coffee-side-tables/lack-side-table-black-art-20011408/ - anyone got any thoughts on this ? Would that be OK ? Also, I'll get some laptop stands to adjust the speakers to be pointed upwards. I went for a walk last night and said to my partner, although this was one of the biggest spend I have made outside of a house or a long holiday it felt like one of the wisest things to do. It feels like a journey from one sound system to my one at home. Sound really does come alive with the right speakers, in fact all my records now sound completely different. Sonic, real and clear. No bullshit. A thank you to all that advised, been kind and guided me to this point.

  13. When we started about my sarong, I warned 'yall Once seen, cannot be unseen my mother's mom had a coffee ritual She had sugar with her coffee. She would pour a cup. Get a teaspoon about 3/4 full of sugar and dip the spoon in just far enough to "take" coffee. Then she would eat/drink that before she drank the coffee. Swedish thing, maybe IDK

  22. I was wondering the same thing - haven't seen him post in a while. I recognize his state of being, his way of thinking. It seems a lot like full on ADD, and possibly medicated heavily to function in the "real world". That doesn't change the way an ADD mind works. One will hyper focus on the topic that is of interest, pouring tremendous mental energy into said topic. But it passes, the lens shifts to another topic, and the cycle continues. This topic may swing back around and we'll see him again. I might be wrong of course, but I just wanted to share t......omg SQUIRREL! bbl...

  29. I searched and could not find a "road trip" thread so here is my latest. I thought I would share my experience with Tim in St Louie (Rescue Audio) for those wondering. Friday March 23rd I traveled from Murfreesboro AR over to St Louis MO roughly 450miles one way. My wife and son were on spring break so they joined me in the road trip. I picked up a 6x12 uhaul trailer that morning (beautiful morning a nice 70d out) in Nashville. I had arranged with Tim to unhook it at his house so the family and I could spend the day in St Louis Saturday, more on that later. We hooked it up and headed out. I have to say that the North East side of Arkansas is absolutely terrible for traveling, nothing to look at but farmland. I live in a beautiful state but this has to be my least favorite area. I guess if I was farming that would be a different story. Anyway back on track, we made great time and got to the Hotel about 2:30 on the 23rd. I called up Tim who was waiting for my son and I at his shop. I asked him if he had any landmarks that would make finding his place easy he said yep just look for the BRIGHT YELLOW BMW "there is no missing that car", he was right. I should have snapped a pic of his shop and how he had the 456's displayed. He had them lined up on the loading dock, wiped down and ready to roll. Side story my son is heading off to CRAS in Gilbert AZ next year to pursue a career in the audio industry. So being that Tim used to work (still does from time to time) live audio I thought it would be great for my son to meet a well seasoned engr. Only problem is my son is very introverted, takes him some time to get used to someone before he opens up. Unfortunatly we didn't have a lot of time. Anyway Tim offered him some great advice, on what to do, what not to do and most of all what it takes to be successful. He simply told my son "Hard work produces positive results" I thought that summed it up pretty good. Back on track......so Tim showed me his shop which to say was a candy store for me. He had tall stacks here, drivers there some older vintage Altec stuff lots of JBL empty cabs, EAW fly boxes and SUBS, SUBS and more SUBS just to name a few items! Once we had taken the tour it was time to load up the 4/456 boxes and the 2/EV TL770 subs. Let me say the loading dock is elevated roughly head high from the ground so you will need an additional hand to help if you buy speakers of the size I bought. Anyway got everything loaded up and tied down. Tim and I talked about dropping the trailer at his house, then I noticed something the damn U-Haul trailer did not have a jack to lower and raise the tongue. No way could we "man handle" it with all that Klipsch woofage on the tongue. So I told Tim I would go find a harbor freight and get a small jack and a stand this afternoon and drop the trailer at his house early on Saturday, Tim said that would be great as he had date night with his wife tonight. So my son and I headed out went to harbor freight picked up a small floor jack and jack stand for 35 bucks...gotta love harbor freight and the coupons! We then headed out to eat at a TEX-MEX place called Chevy's next to the hotel. Had a great meal and headed back to the hotel (Residence Inn). I parked way out away from everyone since I needed the space with my truck and the U-Haul trailer. Saturday the 24th. Woke up to cold temps and rain, not the best weather conditions to be walking around sight seeing but we were determined UNTIL I went downstairs to pull my truck around. Some a-hole parked right in front of me and another a-hole parked right behind me in the damn parking lot boxing me in. Hotels don't take the license plate numbers anymore so there was no way to know who the a-hole was. I went back to my room HOT to say the least, who the heck does that? Sooooo it wasn't until about 1pm that the a-hole behind me finally left so I could get the truck out by this time the day was shot so we checked out of the room and headed south. I can say that it was a good thing I wasn't in my younger years or the wife would have been paying bail money to get me out. Got home about 8pm that night. Sunday the 25th After church service my son and I unloaded the goodies, I was like a 5yr old at Christmas time! Couldn't wait to get these fired up. Son and I ran the U-Haul trailer back to Nashville. The experience with Tim was awesome he is a great dude with a wealth of knowledge and is willing to go out of his way to make sure your experience is the best it can be, do not hesitate to buy from him. I ordered a pair of networks from Bob for one set. Man I have to say these are wonderful speakers, far better than what I was expecting and the EV sub is no slouch very clean sub, I like this combo A LOT!

  35. Ruthless is perhaps too strong. I, for one, would welcome Vasubandu's active return. Nevertheless, I would encourage him to exercise some restraint; to substitute quality for quantity. He comes across like the boy who cried, "subwoofer" too often. You can only alert this crowd so many times with nothing to back it up before you wear out your welcome.

  36. Wow that's alot of spraying. You can check with a local feed store and get that spray cheaper usually. Around here the brand is Hi-Yield which is generic feed store brand, they sell all kinds of chemicals, as long as the active ingredient is Gyphosate, it's the same active ingredient as roundup. This bottle is 41% active ingredient, don't ever buy the ready to spray type, it's at least 50% water. It don't have to be this brand as long as it's the same chemical it works on all weeds, but not on brush. It's strange what Gyphosate does, it stops photosynthesis so that's why it kills even the roots, the weeds starve to death.

  38. A random thought about coffee drinkers and dads. I recall the days when folks would go to stores and pay their bills and often I would accompany my father as he went to Sears, Belks, Western Auto, and JC Penneys. That chore was always followed by a stop at Walgreens for a cup of coffee at the lunch counter. A cup was a nickel with free refills and he usually had two warm ups

  39. Yes, I really did. I have a few things going for me 1] I might be crazy and react unpredicably 2] I'm old 3] It's not nice to pick on someone that might be "handicapped". for the record. My wife gave me the sarong. I call it my Asian kilt. That where the bikers drew a distinction. ... kilts have leather and chains... And suggested some leather. I had fun ... and I am sure I gave them something to talk about HaHHa

  42. You really do that ? I think the sarong and hair is what gave them the "crazy, but harmless" thought. But your a respected member of the community, at least there not watching out for you, that's a different kind of crazy. But be careful, a sarong is the first step.

Ever heard of Honeycrisp Apples? big & super sweet, great with X sharp cheddar, let the flavors meld in the fridge for a few hours. A pear in there would be good too. Good palate cleansing natural sugar dessert! She's doing the Twin Towers in there, I've got my Deepest Purple out in the back!
