  4. Good buys this week. My 2014 Mac Mini has some drive issues, I bought a replacement 2018 Mac Mini 6-core i5, 16GB ram, 512GB SSD for $270 shipped (still selling new for $1299). Luckily it is built well, since there was absolutely no padding in the box. I also picked up a near new condition Snapmaker 2.0 A350 (3D printer, CNC, laser cutter) for a good price, it was 90 minutes away. I have been wanting to try one for a while.

  5. Here is a vibe photo. The THEATER audio system is in use for this Sunday night vinyl spinning here in Longfellow Music Hall. Marantz SR-6011 AVR in discrete 2 channel mode, NO gimicks or enhancements, utilizing the photo stage that is built in and the trusty Klipsch RP-280F towers. I'm impressed and do not long for the Dual 506 believe it or not! Cheers my friends đŸ·

  6. Good evening, good morning! Wanted to be SURE to stop by and let you all in on the VERY FIRST PLAY with the restored B.I.C. 960 turntable. The new, Swiss made stylus is in place and this will be the trial run! Again, I thank Mike (Dirt Mudd) for the lovely one of many gifts with this Marillion, newly remastered LP set on 180 gram vinyl. Here is the front cover artwork....

  7. One of my first trips to the Jersey/NYC area found me turned around heading to Newark. Called the customer to explain I’m off course and would be late, he asked what hiway/road sign I was near and said the Lincoln Tunnel exit was approaching. He told me to do whatever was necessary to get back on xxx hiway and if I couldn’t and ended up in Manhattan he wouldn’t see me at all that day. I actually backed up on an off ramp going the wrong way to get back to the correct road. Yep, finally made it -

  8. And there is the reason for all of this, it's the music not the equipment...........well after a certain point anyway, who wants to listen to crappy sound.

  12. Flitting around while painting this trim, which sucks. Downstairs is almost a wrap on the trim then it's the side walls and I'm kickin back. Running wood flooring on the entry way downstairs and carpet up the stairs and hall up there. Six doors is the pain but life's a pain. Naturally w/the wood downstairs I have to replace all the cove molding then cut and repaint the new stuff. Then the install and fixin up all the nicks and garbage from the new cove molding. Mah good lookin lil designer is diggin around and coming up with something on the cheap but that remains to be seen. Fourth gut job in my life and after the 3rd I said never again. Little did I know. Mid 80's and no air in here sucks too. Don't ask why either cause I don't have a clue. Every house here in the hood has air cept this one. All CD's lately so not much to post. Did manage to throw some albums on last night Such a great album and glad I got it. Some good stuff for sure! Okies, back to the grind! Ugh! 😂

  19. When people don't hear "one voice", they throw in the towel. The only thing he really needed to do was find a single K-55 off of eBay. He could have done the network thing later. Like I told someone else lately, the pearl-clutching over capacitors kind of needs to stop, there just isn't any real point to it. Over the years, and not just on this message board, claims related to varying sound and performance have been all over the map. Unfortunately, even Klipsch hasn't been very consistent with this. I have never bought into the placebo thing. I would have absolutely no problem sending someone to JEM if they emailed me and said, "I just want them to sound like they did when I first got them." There are also people looking for something different, and there is a market for that too. Do they just want their speaker fixed, or are they looking for something different? So, we should try and discern what they are looking for and then point them in that direction. I try to view these threads now as a casual observer, and to be honest, it just looks like noise.

  21. There's something solid forming in the air, The wall of death is lowered in Times Square. No-one seems to care, They carry on as if nothing was there. The wind is blowing harder now, Blowing dust into my eyes. The dust settles on my skin, Making a crust I cannot move in And I'm hovering like a fly, waiting for the windshield on the freeway.

  22. You can still contract the virus even if you've been vaccinated and aren't wearing a mask. You can still transmit the virus even if you've been vaccinated and aren't wearing a mask. These are facts. The new protocol of "No masks required if you've been fully vaccinated" is IMO, total BS. It's obvious that this is already being taken advantage of and manipulated by those that are anti-mask and anti-vaccine.

  27. It's not going to make any noticeable audible difference whatsoever and I would doubt measurable. Now, in a vehicle where there are lots of thin metal panels that resonate due to driving conditions? Sure, it will....as it was intended. Unless you want to just spend the money on it and have something to do, I would find another avenue for a "mod", personally, ie, wall treatments.

  32. Yeah, the best place for a car to refuse to start is usually in your driveway or garage. There was only one time my 1990 police Caprice wouldn’t start, and it was at work. I plugged in the block heater for a couple of hours (it was -20C), but it just wouldn’t start. I finally had it towed to the garage down the street. A change of spark plugs, and it fired right up. For all I know, they could have been the original plugs, from about 160-170,000 km. ago. When the mechanic started it, he had removed the air filter. This engine had throttle body fuel injection, so it was like a 4-barrel fuel injector unit had been installed in place of the 4-barrel carb. With a carburetor, the fuel is sprayed into the venturi, down out of sight, but on this unit, the spray nozzles were just above the entries of the throttle body. When it was first fired up, the fuel was coming out of the nozzles like it was a miniature shower head, but as the engine started to warm up, the rate of fuel flow gradually reduced. For a cold engine, instead of reducing the air flow with a choke plate, like you’d find in a carburetor , the fuel injection unit added more fuel. It was interesting to see the different approach, and all computer controlled. After those new plugs were installed, it never failed to start, for the next couple of years that I owned it. The Chevy High Energy Ignition has always been really reliable for me.

  34. If you want to maintain the aesthetic of your loudspeaker with improved performance, you should go to the K-77-M, CT-120, or the SMAHL. https://www.ebay.com/itm/324294400148 All of the K-77 variants sound like a Kazoo when pushed.

  36. I have owned three pairs of RB-35s in my time and two of the three pairs were used in a stereo rig with very nice performance, with and without a subwoofer. I only sold(7 years ago) my most recent pair because of the acquisition of a beautiful pair of cherry RB-75s. The 75s are incredible in stereo and I would say that the 35s would get you about 80% there. No shade on the 35s, just highest praise for the 75s. Bill

  43. I love the Yamaha Pro P2500s, and P7000s amps...run cool, plenty of power, and you can pick them up used for about $200 (p2500s). During the time I had mine I never had the fan come on! I sold my whole stack when I moved, and so just bought 2 more again for my Atmos channels.
