  1. $39 at elusivedisc dot com Sent them hundreds the last couple of years and they've been great! Love my tt but when I escape the twilight zone I might give this a try. Really miss the semi-auto function. *Paul your wall of gear looks great with the combinations of gray (titanium) and black thrown in between the wood and the LS! LEDs were neat when they came out, but the dials accompanied by a knob are just great!

  3. ...if you can call +5` "Indian Summer", it's happening here, too -------------------------- We got a "new" tv. Boy gave us one of his. Nice unit. Toshiba No, not "smart"... just the way I like them. ------------------ in the Norts Spews - anyone else used to read Tank McNamarra? U AZ snapped their 20 game losing streak [football] with a win over Cal. A Cal player got a celebratory punch in the nuts from a U AZ player. Somehow, I think that should warrant a little more than an unsportsman like conduct penalty.

  7. This weekend I'll leave the stereo off. The last 4 hours I spent with my wife and kids, we watched a 4 hour German TV show. Monday comes my HiFi friend , then we will make our " HiFi Workshop ". I had already reported a few days ago about it. Then I will still hear enough music with various amplifiers, CD players, streamers, DAC etc.. I am very much looking forward to this event next week.

  9. These taken a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. Now, over the bridge, on the landing, a shot in both directions, not much happening on this day. Notice the guy on the little watchtower. Lifeguard, on duty. Working hard.

  10. WOW Paul ...that´s flashing me right now 😉....one of the best analog tuners ever build ! Maybe you remove the 19" rack grips on the amplifier, that looks more homogeneous when the tuner is on top of the amplifier...imo ..

  14. The answer is that - “no “ a retrofit auto lift like the TD147 can’t be done However the little Q UP lift device can be purchased to do the same job (see video) A cantilever device is also available as well I will probably sell the TD147 at some point in the future

  15. As we all know, the world of audio marketing is full of blather, lies, scandalous mis-representation and a host of other scams, flim-flams and cons. Here's the latest to amuse me. A $5,600 (gee-what a deal!) record clamp. The price alone is an assault on the senses, but the verbiage to justify the price is both hilarious and nonsensical. Enjoy: "A legendary Shun Mook product now being made in very, very limited numbers. This record clamp is made from extremely rare pieces of dried ebony briar. The extra heavy century old ebony root which were immersed in the swamps of Africa has a unique power that no other wood possesses. The vibration generated by the diamond stylus in the vinyl groove besides inducing an electroflux through the phono-cartridge also excites the ebony molecules, causing it to resonate. This in turn is feed back through the stylus and is reproduced as expanded sound staging, enhanced separation, sharpened focus and enriched tonal balance of the music. "

  20. I must say I am totally pleased with the sound of these things. It's AWESOME!!! Sounds great in both the theater and with the Klipschorns, but it's with the Klipschorns where the sound really improvement is so huge. I have really enjoyed listening to two channel again for the first time in a long time.

  29. Hmmmm, rack handles or no rack handles... All my old SAE gear had the handles but they were in an SAE rack. That industrial pro look back then but now I'm torn AND you've got me thinking about my tuner. It's an SAE 8000 digital tuner and I powered it up a while back and naturally it didn't work. Never used the thing but... ...I might. Nah, think I'll off it. Hoarder? Not me. Well maybe... 😂 On or Off? If they're on ya won't lose them... hahaha I dunno either. That wall of gear? Killer but I'm trying to downsize. As if that's gonna happen. I'd be soooo losted @ your place Paul. Ya found your happy place and it looks great!

  34. You can look at it this way Save your stylus from damage - costs way more to replace Save your legs - fast run to the TT to lift the arm manually - although I do this now because no arm lifter can be added to my tonearm on the main Garrard 401 TT

One Proud papa rippin this one down with his son. Enjoy! Yea, buddy! Get ur grin on!

  40. We've had rainy, cloudy and one cloudless bright day this week. But have yet to break 50 degrees, even got into the high 30s one morning. Bugs come in and they're belly up another foot inside! Thought I caught a big quick spider out of the corner of my eye the other evening... a couple lizards came inside to get warm!

  42. They are more "bassy" with K-33's. The K-43's higher BL product gives them better output at 400 Hz. along with higher power handling for playing "stupid loud" in big rooms. Like the old saying: "If the only tool you have is a Hammer, everything starts to look like a Nail!" Back in the 70's, the only woofer that Klipsch was using was a K-33 for all of their speakers. This includes Khorns, LaScalas, Cornwalls, MWMs, and even the never released LB-76 (Little Bastard). So just because it was developed using their only woofer at the time, 45 years ago, doen't mean there are/were no other choices. So pick your favorite "curve tilt." Besides, since they use Milliwatts, it's easy to EQ them anyway you like. Just because that horn was developed with K-33's doesn't mean K-43's don't work as well in the same horn, which were actually developed by Eminence for that horn, since the PA Idiots were burning up woofers with too much power. K-43's are simply more rugged too. I experienced this by having different drivers in my MWMs and Quarter Pies, for simulation AND real measurements in a real room. With extensive listening sessions as well. Plus, it's another vote for applying modern Digital Crossovers with lots of cheap chip amps for the PEQ's and time delays. Something promoted by Roy Delgado and Chris Askew. No need to switch. Conclusion: The song "Don't Worry, Be Happy," by Bobby McFerrin shall apply here! As to the K-55 variants (a, b, c, d, e, f, g, Whatever) it's still a phenolic diaphragm with a small throat and a dual phase plug with a mud magnet instead of Alnico. Let's not "wax poetic" about a driver that only works better because of it's youth rather than it's fundamental design! If you want a real HUGE improvement, use a larger driver and horn.................................just sayin'.

  43. Cool. I sold the jukebox but kept the little records with the big hole and I haven't started offing my LPs yet and I don't think I will. Hell, I kept them this long and dragged them half way across the country with me so I'm hoping I can get some advice about where I might find someone to help with Thorens rehabilitation. The old TD160 is tired. I would prefer someone sorta local to southern California so I could carry it in and meet the folks but I would be willing to ship in the right situation. Anyone out there have a recommendation for turntable service?
