This Goldring G 900 SE Pick Up is one of the best I ever listend to. A system like they have very rarely built. Absolutely top system without fault and reproach. On par with a Sonus, it does everything right in room imaging, heavy low bass with the highest precision. Midrange resolution everything from the finest without any sharpness. Musical flow, everything just perfect ! With the also available Shibatanadel, the system also gains the gift, so rarely found in other HiEnd components, to let the space between the instruments become literally tangible. Aart van den Hul's first commissioned work . Unfortunately also completely unrecognized in the scene, for whatever reason, it makes used just to the true super bargain Donald Fagen´s Nightfly / 1982 / WB Records / Printed in Germany has the honour to please me5 points

Hi - I might have the answer for your K-48-K, where long story short on my KP-3001 crossover refurbishments (drama on another thread) - I replaced one K-48-K with a Kappa 15-C. Thus I have a K-48-K sitting in the Emminence 15C shipping box all by its lonesome self. To help your journey (I am enjoying as others) - I would be glad to offer you my spare K-48-K gratis if you would pay shipping from ZIP 85248 (Phoenix area). I have to head out the door right now and can take some pics later today if you are interested. Aloha, Rick3 points

FYI, 96 out of 100 members on the forum use Sonicaps so that ought to tell you which ones people like and the Crites company customer service is 100% better than anyone else3 points

New (open-box) sub is out for delivery... cables won't get here until tomorrow. Recall hearing those "fiddlers" doing AC/DC when it was posted. That and the organ will get played again when I'm set up better. Down to the upper 30s now into the teens the next time I hear it!3 points

...keep the Quartets until you can land some Klipsch with a 15” woofer, especially the Pro stuff. And at some point in your life, you owe it to yourself, and everyone you love, to audition a pair of La Scalas in your own space. If the price is right, they are rent free when you sell them.3 points

Wow, the support and kindness of this community is a little overwhelming. Well Rick, I could certainly use that woofer so I feel to keep things in karmic balance, I have a K-43-SK, I believe, let me recheck the last letters that is available for anyone who wants to pay shipping. I think we are all going to be contacting Billybob before : 1.going on trips to Vegas 2.asking girls for their hand in marriage 3. important elections etc.... Thanks so much for all your help with these old musical dreams of mine. I looked and looked and people asked why I was so set on these speakers and the answer is revealing itself in a more beautiful way than even I knew.2 points

I have heard the AK6 khorns are a dealer several times with various amps. I have vintage khorns with recapped crossovers and I feel like the AK6 khorns sound significantly better than mine while using some of the same amps that I brought home for a demo. My wife keeps saying she wants to replace ours with new khorns. I'm still trying to hold out for jubes.2 points

I never understood the desire to run multiple speakers playing the same channel signals. Yes, you can achieve higher SPL, but you are introducing other issues. Correct stereo imaging depends on the amplitude, phase/timing, and directional information coming from each channel arriving at your ear without losing that information or adding anything to it. This will allow your ear/brain system to properly process it and turn it into a stereo image in your head. In turn, this allows you to locate sounds between the speakers that are a reasonable reproduction of what was captured by the microphone or created at the mixing console. Ideally, this means there should only be one early arrival of the sound of each channel at each ear. This is one reason why people treat their rooms to eliminate the early reflections. However, when you add more speakers reproducing the same channel you are now intentionally adding multiple early arrivals at each ear. This causes confusion for the ear/brain system and can muddy or destroy the imaging. Another downside to having multiple speakers per channel is that there will be interference between them depending on the distance between them and the frequencies being reproduced (a.k.a. comb filtering). Peaks and dips can be present at different locations. If you want higher SPL, just get a more capable pair of speakers. In case you haven't guessed by now, I'd recommend just one pair of Forte II.2 points

@Josh in DC Welcome to the forum! I doubt if it would help the newer ones. New and old, they have a flange that is screwed down. In the old days, when the horns were screwed down, PWK couldn't pick up any resonance with his equipment. Even when the Forte I was premiered, one critic, having not noticed any horn distortion, said, "so much for horn distortion." But, who knows ... you might try it if you are energetic and willing. If you do, please do one only, then have someone put the two speakers next to either, cheek by jowl, almost touching, when you are out of the room and not cheating (not looking). Then return and listen extensively to each speaker one at a time. Then have your friend either reverse the speakers, or not, without telling, and then please compare the two. This would be a "single blind" experiment, so to approach a "double blind," have your confederate either leave the room before you re-enter, or wear a bag over his/her head. This would have one step less confirmation bias than what the guy on YouTube did, but, of course, is not as refined as many repeated trials with control for order effect and carry over effect. Please let us know your results. I suspect at least some placebo effect in the YouTube results. By the way, IMO, the term is "damping," not "dampening." A ton of audiophiles make this mistake, including the guy on YouTube. An amplifier has a damping factor. Car and bike suspensions have damping. Some old tone arms had viscous damping. In my recollection, including in physics class, it was "damping" from when I became an audiophile (late '50s) until about 1967, when Star Trek erroneously used the term "dampening." Then, they did it again. And again. Just as when CNN mis-defined "Factoid," Orville Redenbacher corp. mis-defined "overachiever," practically every screenwriter, novelist and journalist used "subconscious," over the usually preferred "unconscious," etc., etc., the acirologie multiplied and lasted and lasted. One reason I will continue to use "damping" is that I can only too clearly visualize what an audiophile would look like while "dampening" his components.2 points

This picture hangs on the staircase to the attic. I have brought it with me from Hong Kong. I was there on business very much on the road. It shows the skyline of Tsim Tsa Tsui and is an oil painting. I framed it in a glas frame. I bought it from the street painter " Emil ". This showed his paintings in a waterfront area of Hong Kong.1 point
