  1. While remaining inclusive, I want to clarify that I prefer Joss Stone over Kidney Stone, and Josh Stone in my earlier post, that was a typo! Update on the kidney stone calvary: they shot at the stone, took out the old Stent, and put in a new one!

  2. I can hear the band from home. I did draw some "Gandolf?" comments when I was out and about. I was gifted a trampoline...Been busy converting the frame to a greenhouse/lattice house. As much as jumping on it is appealing ... the thought of broken bones dissuaded me. I've learned that when I have an inclination to "think about this" means Don't Do It! My hand/eye coordination has never been good. Ball sports are no good for me...that's why I took up bowling, beekeeping, that kind of stuff...

  3. Not to be an ***, but if 70 lb speakers are too much to handle you might be more inclined to needlepoint. But seriously, once you get them in the room it’s a matter of walking them around or put them on sliders. Easily manageable. I guess I don’t understand the issue. If it really is an issue, the Heresy is probably your only option.

  5. One of the few advantages of being on sickleave is that one can listen guilt free to vinyl reords. Did you know that track one, Like someone in Love, starts with Krall's voice accompanied by bass only? They are in perfect balance. Another proof that my system doesn't need a subwoofer.

  7. The wimmen at jam night decided they were bringing food in for everyone Saturday night. One of them was show boating w/somekind of electric hot dog roaster. Wanted me to watch it cook my two dogs. She bent the hot dog in the middle and slipped the ends on an electrodes. She wanted me to watch it work so I stood there looking dumb as she put some see-thru plastic cover over the dogs in the machine. She hit the power and those things went into a death quiver. Steamin, shakin starting to cook I think. They looked dead when she put them on. 30 seconds later they were done. She was soooo proud of her lil machine. Sometimes it's the little things I guess. How were they she asked me later. Oh, just great kinda like eating them right off "Ole Sparky" at the Ohio Pen. AND the chips you put in the lil paper tray next to the dog? Stale AF.

  8. My wife seems to be sensitive to .... well... pretty much all stings. That is easier than listing what I know she's sensitive to... was laughing at myself [I'm easily entertained] we have beef, venison, chicken, fish and shrimp in the freezer. I went to the store because I wanted a hot dog

  10. Welcome to the vinyl spinning thread Most of us are still collecting or filling in gaps in the collection of favourite artists In my case it was marriage and raising children that put a halt in record purchases But for the last 10 years I have been searching and collecting mostly original pressings, and now I have almost finished my quest Stop by often follow the thread and post that dozen or so LPs you enjoy

  13. Been there many times and every word is true. Crazy place, great food and great people who rolled out that Cleveland red carpet. Then the World Series of Rock every summer? Just plain insane shows. WMMS was the home of the Buzzard. NOTHING but rock n roll 24/7. Swingo's was the place for soooo many rockers and one of the major reasons the Rock Hall of Fame is in Cleveland.

  17. Come on @Dave1291 about four years ago you had pics of a bowed or leaning shelf, just one of them. Talked about fixing it but you would have to empty it first! But hey, we all forget some and remember other things. I know I've got one crate of LPs that fell off the cart when I moved them into storage because of that high 1 1/2" threshold, and the self closing doors getting ready to snap shut in that new building. Will take them out of the dwelling and clean them off before they'll be able to join the others!

  18. I’m in the 50 hours for a woofer to “get down” camp. I had been using a pair of Kappa 15Cs in my FH-1 bins for a couple years downstairs. I took them out to play around with them in a Cornscala build upstairs, which I quite liked the midbass on, so I kept them there. Bought a new pair to put back in the FH-1s. Thought I had wired something out of phase, opened them up to check it out, reefed down on all the bolts (8 spiky pests in an FH-1 bin), even wound up stripping one, sigh. I even rechecked the specs online to see if there were production differences. Fast forward about a month of typical listening and POW! It seemed almost immediate to me when they “broke in”. I too also find my amp to sound better after it’s been on for at least 20 minutes, but THAT might be my ears/brain putting everything back into phase compared to what I have heard all day at work. I often leave the amp on but muted overnight and the next day it’s 50/50 whether it gels after unmuting. The quality of the recording I’ve randomly chosen no doubt plays a role in all this. But after 20 minutes, either I’m less critical or more appreciative, lol.

  22. Hey guys! I'm just starting to tune into this thread! I used to be a DJ through most of the 90's so I had a pretty extensive collection of vinyl but most of it was 12" singles and 45's. I used to buy direct from Galaxy Records in Pittsburgh! Well, my DJ business disbanded after my partners and I started getting married and moving away so we split all the gear and music up between us! I ended up with most of the gear, including 4 or 5 Technics 1200 turntables that I wish I had just one of today, but the music all went to one of my partners. Fast forward to today, I am just starting to get back into vinyl but I literally have like 12 records! I guess my plan is to slowly buy my favorite albums and/or singles until I have a cool collection again...or die. Which ever comes first, LOL! Thanks for reading...I think I will spin a little AC/DC Back in Black when I get home tonight!

  25. I keep telling a buddy he should buy a food truck and head South in the winters then back to Ohio in the summers. I think he's running his version of meals on wheels at times and I'm a test moron. I mean he can throw down some great stuff but some of it sounds a bit sketchy. lol Had a special on last nite when he cranked out a 50/50 batch of venison/moo cow chili yesterday for the first time. Not too bad.

  27. "200-500 hours needed to fully break in. Who the heck remembers exactly what their system sounded like weeks/months ago?" Enough time passed to refuse returns if you still don't like them, or it. 'relaxed or opened up etc etc..'.. 🙃 Brilliant move by some outfits.. 😅 Yeah, not exactly the model of health these days.. but I surely can hear very well still. Thankful!

  28. Thanks, they do rock, although I can't imagine pumping that many watts into them. We used them for a bit in our 2.1 AV setup and the speakers were amazing.

  29. Alcohol relaxes a muscle in the inner ear - so that midrange sounds louder after a few. I tuned my 1970's nightclub systems much like THX today, sloping -3dB/octave above 1000 Hz so we didn't drive the patrons away. See my friends Mr. Fletcher and Mr. Munson regarding hearing physics -

It's that lake Erie water up there on the North coast of Ohio. One of the best ever from him. Every woman on the planet sings along w/her. Classic! I NEVER slept on it til the morning.

  37. I don't know the answers but I listened to them for quite a while at the PWK birthday blast and they sound really good. They are currently setup in the Klipsch visitors center in Hope with some nice McIntosh tube equipment. People were playing from their phones with bluetooth and those speakers handled several different types of music very well.

  38. That’s 300,000 on his 1981 bike. The 2020 only has 46,000, which is still more than I’ve driven the past few years. I used to have a 45 minute rip through the mountains twice a day to and from work. Now I’m officially a work from home employee and I get reimbursed for mileage if I step foot out of my driveway for work.

  40. Hell, they’re $16K/ a pair as it is. Can only imagine if they are all “heritaged” up - . Kinda looks like the horn is a 510/mumps with an oversized outside fascia for cosmetics. Brings fond memories of my old “Frankensteins” -

  44. Well I went to the PWK B'day bash but have never been to a pilgrimmage. The bash was spread out and involved listening sessions at the factory in Roy's lab with the new Jubilees, museum tours across the street from the factory, "open" listening sessions on Friday and Saturday with several systems setup in the constantly improving Klipsch visitors center (soon to have an outdoor concert facility), concerts in the Klipsch theater at City Hall on Friday and Saturday nights with plenty of food. There were auctions for pieces of art on Friday and for a pair Khorns on Saturday. The Klipsch visitors center had systems setup with 1950s Khorns (w/ vintage tubes), 1980s Khorns (McIntosh MA-352) , Cornwall 4s, Heresy 4s, McClaren 905s (Mcintosh C22 /MC275), and underground Jubs were there but not setup yet. These were all setup in different rooms in case you haven't been there. This is a very BIG house next door to where Bill Clinton was born. I was there in October 2021 and I can say that Klipsch is really moving forward with developing and continually improving these facilities and opening them to the public. Highly recommended to attend events at these facilities as they are announced. I already can't wait to go back. Finally, with Klipsch it's also the people. Not only the nicest people, but smart folks driven to constantly improve the customer experience and promote the life and accomplishments of PWK.
