Update: I have tried to stick to basic cleaning for not while waiting for parts and batteries. I will have the battery's today and will get pics of the progress. I did some thinking (Painful) and have decided to go for a new set of jewels for the pivots, but setting the jewels into the housing rather than the cylinder (barrel. Sleeve?) and to insert new pivot points into the cylinder. These are the jewels I am getting and the shafts. While writing this Dave at Swiss jewel called about my request, and found one issue in my selection and has offered me samples for my project, since it is a one off thing. I have to do a bit of engineering here to insure proper mating and fit of the shaft to the jewels, and that is the same as in watch making the dilemma now is the fitment of the shafts to the cylinder, with out having to drill on it, but there I have an idea that would allow there to be no change to the cylinder, keeping it original. I also will be replacing the ball bearing under the tonearm shaft as there is a ridge and some scratches on the original. The platter bearing looks real good so I will leave that one be. I have to finish cleaning the bearing wells on both the platter and tone arm today, soft rotary nylon brush and ATF to get a perfect polish. Add another coat of oil to the walnut base and am thinking of a clear coat over the top plate, "leaving" the small dings and such in the finish there. Not that it adds character, but it tells the story of the life of this TT. Electrical are finished and I had to tear the power switch apart to get the contacts clean, I will be replacing the capacitor on the switch, as the arcing had been rather severe causing such a carbon build up. I may replace the motor capacitor while I am doing the other. Update again: the new bearings are now ordered. Progress is now slow waiting for parts, oil finish is drying, so I am just fiddling with the tools for the alignment procedure. I will post a new update in a day or so and with pictures all going well..7 points

Yea, he's werkin. lol Lewis Allan Reed (March 2, 1942 โ October 27, 2013) was an American musician and songwriter. He was the guitarist, singer, and principal songwriter for the rock band The Velvet Underground and had a solo career that spanned five decades. Although not commercially successful during its existence, the Velvet Underground became regarded as one of the most influential bands in the history of underground and alternative rock music. Reed's distinctive deadpan voice, poetic and transgressive lyrics, and experimental guitar playing were trademarks throughout his long career. "Sally Can't Dance" was his 4th Studio lp released in September of 1974. It peaked @ #10 on the US charts.4 points

Wellllll, I had a brain fart. That's all I'm saying. Saw a special a while back for all you can eat pasta @ the Olive Garden near here. So off we went and I'm ready since it had been 3-4 years since I'd been there. Got seated and it was all down hill after that. "Never ending pasta bowls" for 12.95. I'm down! I'll stuff 3 of those puppies in and take one home. So I told the waitress that's what I wanted. Add meat for $4.99? So we're pushing 20$ now. That wasn't the deal though. It was on a card standing up on the table. Screwed and too late now so she brings our $3.49 drinks and 3 breadsticks for 2 ppl? John gets salad and I get some soup so she's grinding cheese, stops and leaves. I asked for more breadsticks since piglet ate them all and I'm going to need them w/the all you can eat soup I ordered a second bowl of. John eats 3 bowls of salad and I'm waiting on my second bowl of soup, which I never got. I dove on the breadsticks quick and then here comes the food. She's grinding cheese on his food, comes to me and starts grinding, I'm laffin w/John about the entie fiasco, look down and there's a two-inch mound of cheese on my fettucini and she's still crankin that thing. I said "whoa" and she says well you never told me to stop. Look up and John's gnawin on breadsticks again. THEN a light bulb goes off. Imma gonna get them now. A full order of fettucini alfredo to go for 9$ BOOM! It said cooked to perfection then chilled enough to take home safely. Huh? Wait, it's LEFTOVERS and yup it was. Two "perfect ice cream scoops" on one side and a wad of noodles on the other side of the plastic tray. I'll skip the part about using my card in some game machine on the table to pay my bill. ANOTHER mentally handicapped fun time for me. So we walk outside and there's a SGT Schultz clone telling John about his tour in Nam after seeing my retired plate. Yea buddy it was a wild ride this afternoon for sure. ๐ A pic? Seriously? Just say NO is all I can tell ya. Never, nope, won't EVAH happen again! ๐๐๐ ๐ช4 points

This is a preemptive post: No matter what @Dave1291 posts about our ill fated trip to a restaurant that was last good 40 years ago. Don't believe it. I only ate three breadsticks. Problem is I don't believe they're complementary anymore because we had trouble getting more when I could have eaten a dozen. But anyhow, after my frozen entree that was reheated and the DJs green beans in his pasta. It was laughter and joyous banter for the rest of the afternoon. The people were staring at us and no believe me nobody in our party was stoned. Yeah I know it's a strange post but after he told me what he was going to do I had to do this because I'm not driving right now4 points

I plan to buy a Klipsch R-120SW and ship it out of US as a checked in luggage. Wanted to check if the packaged box dimensions is within the limit approved by airline carriers. Only the subwoofer size is available online. Could someone who already own Klipsch R-120SW mention the size of cardboard box it is packaged in. TIA1 point

I put risers under a pair I have, which raises the front a couple inches and was amazed at the change in the voice. Fire them up and enjoy the ride Perfect match w/the receiver so kick back and enjoy. If they are not your cup of Thea you can easely sell them again for 800,- euro. See it as a free ticket to give it a try. For me the whole journey started with the Hersey2, and after some more Heritage speakers it ended with the lascala, so be warned ๐1 point

If you can place them in corners, you will get more bass. I have had mine on the floor, tilted back a little bit, but I felt like the sound was coming up at me. They are currently on top of some large bass horns (at the moment not being used) about four feet up. My room has 9+ foot ceilings. They are on their sides, and sound really great. Other than the weight, try them for a while in different places. Pick the one you like, no matter what 'experts' say. Bruce1 point

Thanks for everybody's input (except for Real Duke, the way I acquired a lot of my vinyl was saving it from a dumpster at the end of a garage sale.) I've been scanning craigslist for book cases. I just don't trust the ikea stuff and I want it to look nice in the family room.1 point

The cabs look to be in very good shape (mine are black lacquer) and I like the veneer on them. Mine are in a room approx. 40 sq. meters and I have quite adequate bass for my taste in music.1 point

How does it look?? Do you think it is a good deal? I mean based on images and info.. i could not listen to them since they are in another city, but I have a video that they both play, and it looks legit. I spoke with the guy on the phone several times..1 point

Anyone audiophile would be happy to own either one of your guys last buys. Best sound I have heard is a SET 300B. At least with my LaScala's which we all three own.1 point

Great speakers! I have a pair... not sure. The stickers were gone off the backs. I believe they are from the lat '80s according to the inspection stickers inside the cabinets. The should sound fine in a room that size.1 point

That's would be an excellent price for a those speakers in very good condition. ($850 US) currently.1 point

I am testing to compare my pressing with @AndreG. I'd say that whether it's worth to you to put up rear Atmos speakers depends on if you've been satisfied with the experience you've had with your from Atmos speakers. If you have, then it's likely worth it as you will get more precise overhead effects localization and more fully immersive ambience sound from Atmos/DTS:X content. As to whether kg1 and RS-3 II are appropriate speakers to use with a Belle/Forte ground layer, this will depend on several things. Firstly, wide dispersion surround speakers are not recommended for Atmos/DTS:X. All the major immersive surround formats (Atmos, DTS:X, Auro 3D) specify monopole (i.e., direct firing) speakers for all channels. Secondly, whether small speakers like kg1 (which are almost about as far away in capability from Belle speakers as you can get in vintage Klipsch) will work for you is going to depend on whether your receiver/processor has enough usable gain to overcome the sensitivity mismatch and whether you are sensitive to sonic mismatches between the ground layer and the height layer. Most people think that sonic (timbe) mismatches are just related to frequency response. While that's true, what's even more important is distortion mismatches, both in quantity and quality (types and profile over the frequency range) of the distortion. While frequency response mismatches can be somewhat mitigated by room correction systems like Audyssey, distortion mismatches cannot be fixed. I'll explain what I mean by this. My experience with this is very much like what @Coytee described. My main theater system in my basement consists of seven Palladium speakers in the ground layer (P-39F mains, P-27C center, P-27S side surrounds and P-37F rear surrounds). When I first decided to upgrade the theater to Atmos, I hung four Klipsch AW-650 outdoor speakers from the ceiling. I figured that these would be superior to most in-ceiling speakers for Atmos. They do work quite well as Atmos speakers. However, over time the mismatch in sound character between the ground layer and the height layer started really bothering me. I realized what was bothering me was the lack of midrange clarity from the AW-650. The AW-650 crossover from the horn to the direct radiator woof at 3400 Hz. The 3-way Palladium speakers do this in the 500 - 600 Hz range. That means way more of the midrange is reproduced by much lower distortion horns on the Palladium speakers and therefore have a much cleaner midrange. (I suspect this is something of what @Coytee experienced with the Academy (crossover at 2200 Hz). I owned an Academy for a short time as a center for original Forte. I wasn't satisfied with it for the same reason I mentioned with the AW-650. I ended up replacing it with a single Heresy II (crossover at 850 Hz).) So, I switched to front and rear heights using Palladium P-17B bookshelf speakers on high shelf units. Yes, overhead localization of effects was slightly less precise, but the coherence of the entire immersive sound field was much better due to timbre matching of all channels. Also, overhead effects occur much less often than other immersive sound in most movie soundtracks. So, I prefer the timbre matched heights much more than having precise overhead effects. If I ever add Atmos to my living room Jubilee mains/ Belle center/La Scala surrounds 5.0 system, I will likely purchase Klipsch cinema surround speakers like the KPT-1260H or the KPT-250. These hopefully should be able to reasonably "keep up" with the ground layer. Using these would be much easier than attempting to hang Heresy speakers from the walls or ceiling. Here's a picture from when I was first testing the Palladium height speakers but hadn't yet taken down the AW-650.1 point

Part of my stash. Began w/full inch stained shelving boards and decorative concrete blocks, then had a guy build my cabinet. Inch oak, 4 feet long w/a toe kick board 4 inches high on the bottom, smoked glass on recessed tracks so the bottom edge of the lp wouldn't get torn up. Picked up the other two pieces of the gray shelving board up @ a local 2nd hand store for 10$. It's lagged w/4" wood screws into the wall studs along with some 2x2's for support in the middle. Also, not showing is an old 5 shelve solid oak military bookcase I picked up on fb marketplace for $35 and the guy delivered it for $20. Today, once again, I'm outta room w/6 stacks of stuff leaning against whatever I can lean it on. This is a couple years old. Originally I thought I'd need maybe 3 cabinets in my llifetime. That's 50 years worth so plan accordingly. Think WEIGHT! ๐1 point

Good story and a great deal. I don't know if you know this or not, but you can get your second sub-12 for that same price at BB. Just show your receipt and BB will price match thier own. I know it sounds funny, but that's how they do it. or you can say something like "I am thinking about adding a second one to make it two, can I get a deal on both of these?"1 point
