  9. Hi Travis, Hmmm....The most difficult was the ADC B-100. However, I haven't heard one since the CES show of 1981! It's overly complicated, but at the time I think it sounded better than the Paragon 12A. According to my current recollections, the Peach II is my "best work. " It is novel, well-built, sounds great, and is pretty reliable, especially after the low-voltage bridge mods. OTOH, the BBX was the most fun - had the killer phono stage and especially the early versions had a look that I really loved. This month is the 20th "birthday" of the BlueBerry. The original prototype chassis shown here.

  12. Sent the youngest daughter the majority of my old Domke bag full of Nikon gear before Xmas. She's doing pretty well in Scottsdale and is just like I was. Always on the move just doing more constructive things. lol I raped and pillaged where as, she's just rapin wallets in the business world. šŸ˜‚ I'll give ya a lil heads up. Keep and eye on Taylor Swift's head @ the Super Bowl. Either her or Andy Reid since it's his last game. I'm guessin! Don't say it. 4 years in a row w/Album of the Year??? 51B$ world tour? Flying in for the game from Japan then right out to Austrailia? ANYthing she wants... Might be for her tour too. I dunno but it's insane. I've been trying to teach her how to shoot via text msgs and p;ointing her in the direction of a great photog in Phoenix I know. Hours on end texting and trying to guide her. Drives me insane since I haven't touched my gear in 20 years. lol Couple F4's and an F5 with the manual fast lenses 28, 35, 50, 135 and 180. She's been sharing some so thought I'd dump some of hers. She's been working the Waste Management PGA tour stop in Phoenix for about 5 years. Good ole #7 the local party hole. Last week she got this one and was totally clueless. About Wednesday she's gonna get a chunk of glass she's not expecting. Sending her my 400 2.8 for the golf tourney. Will keep her out of trouble w/the boys teeing off. They won't hear a thing. She was in San Diego and sent me this w/the 28mm 2.8 so asked why didn't she go in and shoot up too? lol Never thought of it she said. ha! Then it was coffee & cars one Saturday morning in Scottsdale somewhere.

  15. For practical reasons - and please note that every cartridge sounds different from another. So finding the one that suits oneā€™s system oneā€™s ears and music genre is part of that journey Now for practical reasons It can take a while to set up a new cartridge or to swap over from MM to MC ect So itā€™s prudent to use and pre set an MM on one tonearm and an MC on the other, giving one more time to enjoy music

  21. I know a bunch of you have finished NOLF so I'd like to get a hint or two. I'm stuck in Dive, Scene 3, where you're in the sunken ship and you have to find the shipping manifest and the captain's log. I found the manifest easy enough but I can't seem to find the captain's log. I think I've been everywhere I can go, but there has to be something else . . . please help before I pull all of my hair out (there ain't much left)! Thanks in advance!

  22. Remember to start easy and gradually work into the listening experience. Try to resist the urge to crank the bass and volume up all the way before you have built up an adequate resistance to high pressure sound waves. Don't forget to have your non-v2-400-owning friends over to gawk at your new toy ------------------ Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're absolutely right.

  24. Try using some acetone (aka, nail polish remover) to take off the adhesive. Don't know what that'll do to the plastic finish, though. Test first in an inconspicuous area, I guess.

  25. Oh, I don't know. I don't think it'll fit under my desk! Is there a difference in RAM sinks? I should probably splurge and pick up a few. I think I remember seeing some heatsinks that were REALLY tall and pointy. Looked pretty cool. Tack 'em on with thermal tape, right?

  26. I have a Hauppauge TV card. It's real easy to hook it up. Stick it in a PCI slot and hook up the audio wire to your soundcard in. Plug the cable into the coax plug. Oh, and make sure the driver is installed on the hard drive before you put the card in. ------------------ Too much is never enough.

  29. Remember the late 60s or early 70s T-Birds? Huge behemoths with the large "wheel cover" on the trunk? I was in the backseat on 285 one night and some (^% in a van drove over the trunk while we were doing 65 or 70 in the Ford! It was the early 80s and we rode to the next exit to call about the hit & run. 85 in the Carolinas is just as bad as that perimeter used to be back then and worse, 55, 65, 70 doesn't matter. Folks in the slow lane have good temperaments cause they will be pushed to 80 in the slow lane. No slow downs except on Future 73 N of Greensboro somewhere! Some #*(^% drove his electricity hog on a nice cool crisp sunny day. Dang, didn't he know better than that? The thick black smoke ahead looked like a tanker had exploded but not enough smoke. median was melted up to the barrier 10 feet in, both lanes melted, outside perimeter scorched twenty feet out. Half the car was obviously melted too. There was not a second vehicle involved. Just crazy that they are allowed on the roads. Was on that and others from 10 yesterday until I got home at 3:30 this morning. Got my scripts from Clt then the N side of the lake from Atlanta for my mower and some spirits I could not store. Had to wait for certain things to occur before I could delve into all involved with changing address and registration.

  32. My B&K amp is an ST-140. I did not buy it new and I can't tell if it's the vintage 1984 70 WPC version or the later 105 W model. Other than the model number screened on the front panel, the only other unique mark is the 'Made In The USA' sticker on the back. I also saw online today that the amp is supposed to have 3+ dB of headroom, so there should be some kick there. I may have to wire it up and push it a little. Thx for the prompt!

  33. The E schematic brings back lots of memories. I donā€™t wish to derail this thread so let me just briefly say that I built the E phono stage back in 1976 or 1977. At the time I knew it as the Trevor Lees design; it was only later that I found out he had copied your circuit. At the time I was a penniless grad student, but a friend saw the ad for the Trevor Lees kit and ordered one. I xeroxed his schematic, designed and etched a circuit board, and built it within a week. I thought it sounded great, much better than my DIY version of the Audio Research SP-3a1 phono. I also remember measuring the RIAA accuracy using an inverse RIAA network, and your design had the flattest response I had measured. In contrast, the SP-3 wiggled and jiggled. Anyway, I owe you a belated thank you for the design. I can understand why people still enjoy the sound of their Paragon preamps.

Now it isn't just the first snappy tune, take it like Pink Floyd and listen to the whole thing in sequence... voila you've been somewhere without leaving home!! This guy sang on the above: NICE!! Then back with Nick and his guys:

  38. Has anyone tried to incorporate a relay as suggested by @pconwell and gotten it to work. It doesn't make sense to me - there is no 24V connection from the power supply to the speakers at the once it is complete. How are the speakers powered? Otherwise I have my Cinema 600 up and running again using the recommended power supply from Amazon. Thank you to all that figured this out.

  45. Ceptormsn, I actually plan to sell them if someone is interested. Got speakers installed in one tonight and used the Type E network with the old tin caps so I can see how they sound compared to new caps (either PE caps or Sonicaps). I installed another mid driver tonight to check it against the K55 when I install the guts in second speaker. Couldnā€™t crank it in my shop b/c too late The EV tweeter on the tractrix horn sounde very smooth an effortless and matches the mid very well. Had it sitting on rolling work bench 30ā€ off the floor in middle of shop so couldnā€™t tell much about bass on woofer which isnā€™t broken in. I installed rope caulk on all speakers to deaden resonance. Finished the hand robber wax with 0000 wax including the back. Might consider crossing in EV tweeter around 4500 Hz and roll off the K55 at 6db. Anyone have schematic for that? that? Thanks.
