  2. Contact JEM Performance Audio, Jim will give you info on a crossover rebuild kit. I sealed the backs of mine with Parts Express speaker gasket foam, 3/8” wide I believe. Heresy-E were just exported models sold at military shops, exactly the same as any other Heresy of the time.

  10. Wish there were real urologists here! Did not think to check on that, In FL and NC they go after the issue. I never thought of that as "aggressive". Though that was the way it's done. Day 4 now, this ain't right!! Things change, the tylenol 4 is in me now, it works 8 hours. Ran out of my saved stuff from 2017 and the year after. The Flowmax might have helped already too. I'm comfortable except for the amount of liquids going through

  13. The only active crossover settings in the MHT100 are for the subwoofer line output which is only adjustable from 80-140Hz. There is no powered sub output on the MHT100 so he must have the woofer hooked up to one of the main speaker outputs. In one of his other videos he says he is using the external sub input on the MHT100. This makes me think he’s just running his woofers in mono with the bass level cranked up.

  15. Good stuff between you two thread originals! Mike I'm just glad I got to see them the one time the Outlaws opened. They did "Cities on Flame" and of course "Godzilla" with him stomping completely around the mezzanine. Not as much of their older greats as they did in that 90s setlist up there.

  19. You're more than welcome. I was just paying back for the treatment I had received. This forum used to be a top-shelf and THE go-to place with a lot of helpful and, mostly, friendly members. We have given things away, picked up equipment for others, organized the Pilgrimage and other gatherings, and have been there for each other in many other ways. Sadly, a few years ago, things went sideways, and the cuts that were made caused bleeding that didn't seem to stop until almost everybody left. There were some superb people here. It would be ideal if the powers that be would remove the punitive points and moderated restrictions and see if trust can be reestablished. I'm sure that everyone knows what makes an ideal forum is having great members/people.

  25. Thanks for the replies! Winglet, I was under the impression Klipsch discontinued parts for the RF-3s. If I'm wrong I'd prefer a genuine Klipsch part. Do you have a contact number for Klipsch parts? For some reason I've never been able to get through on the number I have. Unfortunately, Simply has gone totally internet sales and the only way to communicate with them is through email. (Maybe I'm old fashion, but still prefer dealing directly with another human!) I emailed them asking if there was any difference between my tweeters that meter around 3.2 ohms vs the 6.5 ohms they list on the specs for their replacements. They replied they've sold lots of them and never gotten a complaint. Midwest Speaker also sells a replacement, I wonder if there any difference between the two store's suppliers? I'm a refugee from the auto industry, you would be surprised how many OEMs components are all from the same suppliers. Any additional info or advice would be greatly appreciated! Add: Just got off the phone with Klipsch parts. All parts for the RF-3s and RF-3IIs are discontinued and deleted from their parts lists. So, aftermarket is my only option.

  26. this happened Thursday. "My" Dr is in Tucson, yes. I see her for my med card exemption/s. I tease about the Dr at our clinic not liking me. Every time I see him, he has to refer me to someone else or otherwise can't help ... He's a GP. He might have liked being able to do something for me. I'll try to get in tomorrow. Having an estrogen overload. Wife's sister and her secretary are here... There might be a death in the fam. SIL likes to talk. Secretary likes to sleep. She keeps about the same hours as me. Up at 4AM and down at dark thirty. Fun Fun Fun

  31. The Subs are actually screwed to the plywood and then the driver access and output ports were routed out of the plywood to match. The wall to the rear is double 5/8s drywall with Green Glue as it was going to be the front wall before I bought the subs. Three windows were filled in with rebar and concrete as well. The entire cavity is filled with the pink stuff to the ceiling. I made the grills out of matching Klipsch cloth.

  33. Another expat living in HK here. I successfully purchased Heresy IV recently which is now delivered safely so wanted to share my experience. I bought a pair(B stock) from SoundSeller through eBay. Used Buyandship service to first deliver it to the US warehouse and then delivered to HK. The whole process took two and a half weeks. That is from the moment I purchased on eBay and getting delivered to my door. The delivery cost which is based on weights was around HKD3k.(almost 50kg) In terms of the product, so far I can't tell why this is classified as "B" stock. Maybe there is blemish in wood pattern somewhere which I am yet to find. In terms of overall delivery experience(Buyandship), it was pretty seamless and fast once I got comfortable with their procedure. No customs hassle and delivered straight to your door. In overall I am very happy with the overall experience. I actually bought another Subwoofer going through this route and saved money as well.

  34. Take it from someone who has wasted more money than I care to know on overpriced cables over the years, I would highly suggest not spending $500+ on anything other than something that will actually improve your sound, such as a second subwoofer. I can guarantee that if you listened to a song, left the room, came back and I told you that I switched your cables out for expensive “high-end” ones, your mind would hear a difference even though they were the exact same cables.

  35. I can't speak for others but the difference between my HSU setup and my REL high level setup made my sub disappear - you dont hear it but every frequency sounds more clear and blends very well. So BS or not high level with my Forte IVs is a big improvement over my previous setup.

  37. Hi, I have sort of been looking at the McIntosh Ma-6100 for my Heresys but am wondering if its actually worth the investment? So far I have had had powering my Heresys' Mac 4100, yes it was McIntosh but was not really overly impressed Sansui 9090 and 9090DB both sounded very sweet Luxman M-120 C-120 sounded sweet but again liked the 9090's better. Luxman R-115 sounds great it would be a tie or better then the 9090's Yamaha 1020 again did not really get the natural sound Yamaha r-2000 a freaking animal and did not like that sound at all All the above with the exception of the R-115 and rge R-2000 had been professionally serviced if that would make a difference. I have always wanted a McIntosh but at times I think is it really worth the investment? My other speakers are the KG3 and I have had the 9090 hooked up to those and also loved that sound..... TIA

  39. Hi, I see a nice rebuild Pioneer M-90 in my area and was almost thinking about looking at it, I was wondering if any one had a M-90 amp / C90 preamp running the Herseys and how they would sound? TIA, JjR

  40. I'm just wondering if its worth even to spend the money for a pre-amp or tuner w/ preamp? The D2 has a FM tuner in it and I live in Chicago so all stations are basically loud and clear. Should I spend the money for a preamp and why? FWIW The records are all stored away safe and sound. TIA, John

  41. Gave up CD's a long time ago (went from vinyl to back up to CD then just MP3 or FLAC). Just about 10 minutes ago I turned up the D2 ( EQ set at flat) to 50, 2505 set at mid range on the volume for the first time. Yikes! Also have tried the D2 's FM tuner and sounds great. Or let me revise my question, is it worth spending the money for a pre-amp to play the D2 through? Would I get any better sound? Thanks , John

  42. Thanks all for the info, the reason I brought up the subject as I saw a set of new III's on Ebay for $1100 if I remember correctly w/ free shipping. My old originals would make some killer garage speakers. The cabinets are still in pretty good shape but I would never consider doing a cosmetic restoration on those. John

  43. Hi, I have a pair of Kg3 speakers for the garage and just purchased a 9090 (has not been delivered yet) will I have any problem using that receiver with the Sansui as I know that the Kg3 speakers are not watt rates as much as the 9090 can put out. Same question goes for the Heresy speakers as I have those in the home and am in process of getting another 9090 to go with them. FWIW after having a Sansui 7070 I really liked the sound through the Heresy as well as the Kg3 speakers so I figured that I would upgrade a bit. I looked for a nice 8080 but came across a couple 9090s that looked to be well take care of. One is a 9090 and the other is a 9090db. TIA, John

  44. Yes, it had to because the K76 "horn" was a larger throat opening and could only be screwed on from the front. With the advent of the H-II, the drivers were then front mounted in the recess routed out on the driver board. It would not fit inside the H-I. How do they (H-1 vs H"1.5") sound? Now that's a "horn loaded" question (pretty "punny", I suppose...). I like the later versions of the H-I, but many don't. Many would say the original K-22 and K55 combination was much better; in a way, it's going to be your ears.... The K-53/701 horn seemed to be more balanced, and less "harsh", but then again, the crossover was a slightly different arrangement if I recall. If I had to pick a "favorite" of all the Heresy's, I would pick the Heresy-II's from about 1989 on, and second would be the 76-77 Heresy-I's, but with the round magnet K-77 weeter instead of the square magnet K-77. The K-77 tweeter is very good, it's just my ears like the round magnet one (or BEC's CT-125) better. It really boils down to an A vs B listen for each individual; that's provided that the pairs being listened to have fresh caps, backs properly sealed, placement, etc. Speaking of placement... Everyone will tell you that the Heresy needs to be placed on the floor and preferably in a corner. That is true. On the other hand, and in my case, "floor" space with corners is at a premium; not to mention that any object the size of a Heresy on the floor runs the risk of getting kicked, banged etc from the kids running amok.... So, I use the Heresys as "bookshelf" speakers (literally..), up high, or recessed near the floor in a TV/HT bookshelf/stand. I also use them as speaker system "B" on top of Cornwalls in a HT arrangement with LaScalas as a center in one room, and on top of Klipschorns ("Oh the Heresy of it all!!") in the "wall of voodoo" room. Do they sound ok, yup, sound fine, depending on what I'm listening to, etc. The H-I's, properly sealed, etc. sound fine for HT use 6 feet off the ground as the left and right for a HT system. Space is at a premium, so you do what you gotta do... On the other hand, while bass is probably getting wacked a bit, "pounding" bass was never the top of my list so much as "clean" bass. Even if I'm clipping off 10 Hz by "poor placement", the bass is still there and still "clean". It's a personal preference issue as will be anyone's choices in speakers, placement, mods, etc. A note on putting them on top of Klipschorns or Cornwalls as a B pair. I've always been told that I'm not supposed to do that.... but, I like the effect and the clarity that I perceive. The ones on top of the Klipschorn's are normally used independently of the Klipschorns, particularly if I'm working at home and listening to NPR, etc. I'm almost finished with a highly modified pair of Heresy-I's that will go on top of the Klipschorns to better match the K'horns if I want to run both pairs at the same time. A BEC modified tpe E crossover with a 4500 mid/high cross; a Selenium D250X midrange on a K-700 horn, and a BEC CT-125 tweeter. The Heresy is an extremely useful speaker. Over the years I've probably had 15 or more pairs in various models and finish configurations. They are small dimensionally, they can pretty much be used in any application, they are certainly easy (and cheap...) to modify, very easy to refinish, and not too heavy to move around. I've only got 4 pairs of them now (2 H-I "traditional"), a H-"1.5" version, and the "X-treme" modded H-I pair, and all for different applications. So much for rambling about probably my favorite Klipsch speaker.

  45. Wirless would do my no good as I still have to use my Zen player. That is what I'm trying to get away from. Also another thing about these wireless units many of them do not cover the full frequencies that the unit puts out. You may be missing some bass or highs. I found this out when I way thing about a wireless transmitter to me used on my motorcycle. So its worth it to really check out the different brands. I know nothing about the spec's of the Apple as I do not use there equiptment. My Zen sits next to the receiver so a wireless would do little good anyway. Thanks
