  1. Hi i got my cinema 1200 few months ago. We have been loving this thing. Its better then anything we ever had. But this morning my wife put on cartoons for the kids and the back left was making a scratching nosie out of no where. I got home from work and she showed me it was not turned up loud and i can hear it across the house. only some sounds trigger the scratch. I have been freaking out for hours trying to figure this out with no help. I did every possible reset factory the bar. Unplug wait swap left to right all the stuff i could find. I spent allot of this and its barley 2 months old and took forever to get here. Its got both the latest firmware updates mcu and dps. If anyone has any idea of what i can do please help. Im so sad right now lol
  2. So had this system a few months now and randomly today the rare left started to make cracking sounds randomly then it just got worse almost like hissing sound. It’s got both the latest firmware updates and haven’t had any other issues with the system. Anything else I can try before putting a support ticket in?
  3. I recently got the Cinema 1200 sound bar and have been playing with it for the past 2 days and I can't seem to find a good balance and am beginning to think the system I got is faulty. I am curious if any one else is experiencing the same thing issues. First off all, its volume seem very low. I am usually hovering around the 45-55 volume level to get full sound in a 20x16 room. With my older sound bar, the volume usually sits around 20-25 max. Is 45 the expected volume level on average? Second, the dialogue is very low even at the 45 volume level. I've played with the Dialogue enhancement feature, but noticed that past "Dialogue 2", it begins to sound terrible. Other than those two issues/concerns, the surround sound quality overall is amazing. I am just not confident with how high the volume level needs to be and am shocked with how disappointing the quality of the dialogue is out of the box (and even with the Dialogue enhancement feature). Even my old Samsung sound bar (HW-E450) had clearer dialogue and better balance with the background sounds by itself. If anyone has gone through similar low volume and dialogue issues on their Cinema 1200 or have any recommendations for me to get the best out of this system, please share. I'd appreciate it.

  5. I’ve been waiting for this sound bar to come out for almost 2 years now ,does anybody know a release date for the cinema 1200 by Klipsch
  6. I'm on a similar boat as you, waiting for the Cinema 800. Crutchfield lists the 800 as releasing on May 28 and the 1200 on June 1, but then Amazon has the 800 listed as releasing on August 30 and the 1200 on July 1. I just came to know about this ongoing postponement trend and I was really hyped for the 800 but now I'm having second thoughts.
  7. I’ve kept up with the Bar 54 which was changed to the cinema 1200 but I’ve been waiting for this to come out now for almost 2 years and I’m curious when the release date will be if ever?
  8. Hello, does anyone know when the premiere will be? always change date see...
  9. Both the BAR series and the Cinema series require an HDMI-ARC (Audio Return Channel) connection. Connecting these soundbars to a device having an HDMI connector will not produce any audio output unless the device supports the ARC feature. The soundbar has only a single HDMI connector so there is no way to connect a receiver to the soundbar and then connect the soundbar to a TV so there cannot be any pass through capability. Even though the soundbar has an HDMI connection and HDMI does support video, the soundbar only can process the audio stream. Update (2022-01-12): The Cinema 800 and Cinema 1200 do support 4K video passthrough. They had not been announced when this post was originally created.
  10. Apparently it only supports Dolby Digital. I know for a fact is doesn't support DTS, but I knew that when I bought it. I guess I assumed it supported 5.1 PCM and DD+, but was wrong. I have the Surround 3's and I can only get 5.1 when using Netflix, Prime or HBO max. I have tried just about every hook up and TV settings I can, but still cannot get 5.1 though certain apps even when the broadcast is in 4K. I use the Dish Anywhere app a lot and can only get 2.0 stereo when using. I can get sound to run through the Surround 3's when I set the TV audio settings to pass through or PCM, but it is just in stereo, not 5.1. It's not the TV as I have auto detect, auto pass through, DD, DD+ and DTS setting on the audio out settings. I tried them all. I can get 5.1 / 7.1 on all apps including the Dish Anywhere app through Firestick when using my tradition set up, so I know it is not the signal. Really disappointing. I will say the sound and clarity of the bar and surrounds are great, but if it only decodes DD and stereo then what the use. Very disappointed. Maybe they will come out with a firmware update to support more audio formats. I pre-ordered the Cinema 1200 to get Atmos and was going to move this to the bedroom, but I am thinking I am going to cancel now.

  12. I have quite a number of manuals, brochures, etc, I have collected over along number of years in this hobby.. A LOT of Klipsch stuff. Most of the gear I previously owned (or was researching to own). None of these are reprints. These are original brochures, owners manuals, etc. They are in color, most are glossy. Because of the large volume, I would ask you just email me for photos or to clarify the specific item you are interested in. I think I have them priced fairly as many are in high demand but I am not pricing them as such. There will be nominal shipping costs (probably about $2 per order to cover postage, cost of large envelopes, etc). Email if you have any questions. 14. This is from their cinema series but I've seen it used in pro sound as well - both touring and installations. I had it in my home theater. Back when I was single I could really rock out watching movies. But now with kids I rarely have a chance to really get it breathing. I am going to be moving as well so I don't have room for it at the new house. EDIT - I already moved and I've had these sitting in storage for over a year. They need a home. Local pickup in the Dallas area only. There's no way I'm going to even try to ship this thing. $400 OBO each cash only. The 4648A system covers the frequency range from 35 Hz to 500 or 800 Hz, depending upon application. The 4648A 4 ohm system uses two 2226H 380 mm (15 in) patented Vented Gap Cooling TM transducers for high power handling and reduced power compression. The transducers feature 100 mm (4 in) voice coils operating in a large symmetrical field geometry (SFG) magnet structure to reduce a second harmonic distortion to inconsequential levels. 15. 1) 41.5" W x 39.75" H x 24.5 D 2) They are about 1 to 2 dB more efficient than a Khorn bass bin, according to Roy (first hand info) 3) On axis - they can go up to about 1200 Hz and down to 31 Hz (-3 dB), but the horizontal and vertical polars suggest that you need to crossover below 450 Hz (...the polars are much better than Khorns, if you're wondering) 4) They use K-31 drivers - two 12" woofers in each bass bin 5) Contact American Cinema Equipment (Cinequip) in Oregon. Ask for Spencer Chao (spencer.chao AT cinequip.com). Say you need a quote on two KPT-KHJ-LF bass bins. Chris
  16. That's a lot easier to answer, IMHO. La Scalas go for about $800-$1200 a pair in good condition (when all is said and done, i.e., this isn't the buyer's typical asking price). Expected value of your remaining funds: $3000. A pair of K-402s (which are big) (American Cinema Equipment [Cinequip]) would be either $600 (horns only), or $2400 (horns with adjustable bases and K-69-A drivers). I recommend horns only if using a K-402 to save a lot of money. I assume that you can fabricate a base to hold onto the throat of the horn That leaves you $2400. A pair of K-510s (much, much smaller) are about $400-$500, or even less (American Cinema Equipment [Cinequip] - ask for Spencer Chao). You'll have to pay a little attention to the ceiling and floor bounce of the K-510 below about 1200 Hz down to 600 Hz. That leaves you $2500 or more. A pair of BMS4592-ND drivers with analog crossovers would be about $1500. You can use the remaining $1K to buy a really good crossover of your choice. Since the compression driver will take you from 300-20,000 Hz, you don't have to do much to time align - just push the K-402s to the back of the La Scala cabinets. Voila! Done. If you are using K-510s, then you'd cross over to the bass bins at ~600 Hz. Remaining budget: about $1K. You'll need a good crossover - you can use passive, active-analog, or active-digital. All have their advantages and disadvantages. You'll have to do EQing since the K-510 and the K-402 are "constant coverage" horns. Passives are usually the price leader, and the choice for the "old school" crowd and those that can't bring themselves to bi-amp, Active-analogs for those that don't need digital delay or digital EQ, requiring bi-amping, and Active-digital for those that can say "yes" to the 21st century (i.e., can transcend their anti-digital bias) which will achieve fully bi-amped transparent sound. I recommend Xilica or other unit that has 24/96 internal sampling depth/rate (but forget anything from Behringer or miniDSP). Okay, so you really, really don't want horn-loaded bass bins, then I'd recommend the Crites Cornscala cabinets, which are a bit nicer sounding than Cornwall bass bins. Bob would probably make you a deal on those. If you play your cards right - for $4k total budget, you might be able to afford TAD TD-4002 drivers with all the other stuff. Or you can buy or make good subs, if you don't already have one or two. That's what I'd do given today's marketplace. Perhaps others will chime in with their opinions. Chris.

    Atmos News

I've seen a number of questions on how Atmos & DTS:X will shake out moving forward. Everything from the absurd; that Amos is DOA—to a more rational; is there a new format war coming? Atmos is hardly DOA. Atmos has been installed in Commercial Movie Theaters since 2012. Dolby recently announced that there over 1200 theaters that have already installed or have committed to installing Atmos. In fact, Dolby just inked a deal to partner with AMC, that commits up to 100 new Dolby Cinema experiences at AMC Prime Theaters. Dolby Cinema consist of both Atmos Sound technology & Dolby Vision which provides considerable improvment with brightness, contrast, color, black levels & details (larger luminance ranges, wider color gamut & high dynamic range; all at the pixel level). Atmos has over 300 titles announced & has the support from all the major Studio's & streaming via Netflix, Hulu & Amazon: * Warner Bros. * 20th Century Fox * Disney * Sony * Paramount * Universal * Lionsgate With that type of investment & infrastructure from Studio's, mixing & authoring tools, theater chains & hardware support (AVR's, processors, speaker manufactures) safe to say Atmos isn't DOA (unless you're just a hater). With Atmos & DTS:X... I don't see there being in a traditional format war (like HD-DVD & Blu-ray), where one will "win" & the other will be discontinued. In that instance there were separate camps with built-in loyalties & exclusive support with HD-DVD (Toshiba/Microsoft/Paramont/Universal) & Blu-ray (Sony/Disney, 20th Century Fox), eventually those loyalties folded when Warner Bros., Target & Walmart all left HD-DVD & the rest is history. Contrast that with the fact that Dolby & DTS have always coexisted as competing formats. Dolby clearly isn't going anywhere, neither is DTS. Both formats will continue to have support from Studios, mixing facilities & digital tool sets for authoring. I thought this would be a good thread for the latest Atmos news & updates. So, feel free to add anything new to the thread. I'd like to invite Jay L to share any thoughts or insights with the development & testing of the new RP Atmos Speakers. I'm sure there's a lot of stuff from behind the scenes with Dolby that he could share (& some that he cannot). I'll start with this latest news below. Recently Jay L brought the Klipsch Reference Premiere Atmos Speakers to Dolby's Burbank lab & mixing stage for a demo with Dolby & journalists. I'm sure we'll see future articles from other publications... but you can find a full report from High-DefDigest here: klips.ch/1OGThT3 And from Jay: Here's a glimpse (intro) of the HDD article by Michael S. Palmer ================= UPDATE: A current list of ATMOS Blu-ray titles can be found on post #13
  18. First off, thanks to Lil Mike at the AVSforum for another great design. Mike designed the Cinema F-20 and now it's big brother the Lil Wrecker. For comparative purposes, the F-20 is a 20 cubic foot refrigerator sized sub. The Lil Wrecker comes in at 29 cubic feet, is louder and goes lower. It's right at 6 foot tall (5' 10" plus feet) and I'm guessing well over 200 lbs using 3/4" birch. MDF would have definitely been weight prohibited. The box is tuned to 17 Hz so in room should be good to around 14 or lower. Another difference between this and the F-20 is that the F-20 is a front loaded horn and this one is tapped. The driver is a 15" Alpine that will be powered by a bridged Crown that should give it a clean 1200 watts. The build. I'm just about done and only have the Neutric connector left to install. It'll take me a while to post pics so I thought I'd start. I hope to fire it up this weekend. I appreciate forum member mxr dad for entrusting me with this build. It's always nice to build something different. I knew this was going to be big when the cut sheets called for 4 sheets of 4x8 plywood. EDIT, all pictures can be clicked to enlarge.
  19. Well i want to jump in on this subject for just another opinion. I have heard the P39s in two very dramatically different setups. The first time i heard them was on a poorly setup system in Tampa florida when i sold my 4 THX ultra two subwoofers to someone who had the P-39s setup with a Yamaha AVR. they didn't sound nearly as impressive as i would have thought for the price tag they carry. I listened to them with another good friend on the forum who also agreed. That being said i took the opportunity when i purchased my Lascars to listen to them from a forum member who had them setup properly with very expensive Macintosh gear. My thoughts are that they sounded about 80% better than my previous listening environment. The Palladiums have their place and outshine most of all the speakers i have heard across the board from different companies in that price range, but that being said they in my opinion only are not Klipsch's crown jewel. They are by far the most beautiful speaker they make and a lot of time and engineering went into these for sure and if they were for the right price/deal yeah they are worth picking up but i feel for certain environment and purposes different speakers are made by our beloved company for different reasons. The Cinema speakers of course probably have some of the largest and most effortless powerful big sound that represent movie soundtracks and music very accurately. Why shouldn't they they are enormous speakers that are used behind gigantic screens in commercial cinemas that are out of sight from viewers. They are not aesthetically pleasing and are meant to bring beautiful accurate sound from behind screens. Even the THX ultra 2 system that i use in my private cinema are nothing to look at but Black boxes which i also hide behind my theater screen. The heritage line which i feel mixes some of that huge sound from the cinema line with some nice aesthetics are some of my favorite sounding speakers Klipsch offers but also are very large and hard to place in an every day environment if you own say Khorns, lascalas, or anything of that sort. I think your interest and purchase of the P39s was a good one. They are not within reach of some members and will bring very nice sound both for movies and music to your home theater and be probably the best looking speakers you will own from Klipsch. If you were building a theater that had a enormous wall to hide commercial speakers behind sure then you could try other options. The Jubs are something i would love love love to listen to for a very long demo and have my mind blown for a few hours but i'll admit i wouldn't plan to purchase those speakers and bring them into my home because of their size and appearance. None of what I'm saying is meant to be offensive in any way just another honest opinion on what i have heard. For movie theater like sound over even the heritage line i still prefer the THX ultra 2 KL-650s behind my screen paired with my anthem amps and the only upgrade for that type of sound i could think of after hearing so many different klipsch speakers would be the pro line if there were an enormous room with a false wall for them to hide behind. For music it would still be the Heritage line with their large cabinets and silky smooth highs/accurate mids. I think you made a good decision on your P39s and to the OP for $1200 i would pick up that center in a heart beat and if i didn't like it sell it in your situation. I don't think Scrappy meant anything bad he is just giving you an honest opinion that yes i admit has truth to it because some of the other speakers from Klipsch sound better than their Palladium line. He is someone who's opinion i value and i consult with when making purchases etc and although sometimes he can be direct with what he tells you he is telling you from his honest two ears. We all on here for the most part consult with each other for good reason.
  20. Thanks, but i can get 3 KL650 for LCR (RF7II i can return to my friend) if KL650 is better RC64ii.you have already been told by most of us here that the kl-650 is better for movies. 23. hey guys, i gotta sadly sell this subwoofer. i bought it as a package from bill when i picked up the cinema stuff. it currently sits in my living room and i love the sound of this thing. i have already told some guys that have been over locally that from 18 hz up this thing is about 98% of my dual svs ultras when i had them in the living room. just a fantastic subwoofer. its just too big for the room. it crowds the front so much that my mains are only like 5 feet apart. i just cant swing it anywhere else. and i really have no place else to store it otherwise i would hang on to it and hopefully it would work in the next houses living room somehow. also my wife is taking the summer off from college so we are on a solo income right now, which makes sitting on speakers for a while not very feasible. i have this listed on local craigslist for 1200 but i really just want 1000$ out of it. it would come with the crown xti 1000 that has been specifically setup for this sub by Roy Delgado.
  24. for the home theater setup: $600 (plus 650mi road trip to pick up) for RF-5's. $350 for RC-7. $125 for in-walls. $600ish (plus 650mi road trip to pick up) for cinema F-20 sub. for the work-in-progress 2-channel setup: $1200 + shipping for the components. Cabinets were free. so for not a lot of cash, it is indeed possible to have some respectable systems
  25. Just got my new reference system put together last friday and it turned out great. The cherry veneer matches my cherry hardwood perfectly. Just wanted to share my home theater story and background. I got started in home theater a few years back when HDDVDs and BluRays came out. First I was just fascinated with HDTV and had a good friend that worked at HHGregg. Then one day he told me I should get some nice speakers and he had a set of JBL Cinema Sound CST55 towers marked down from $499 ea. to $100 ea. so I pulled the trigger and bought a reciever and JBL ES250P sub to go with it. This is when I began to appreciate good audio. I had always liked speakers but back then I was impressed by most HTIBs, this is when I really began to seek more knowledge and the desire for more performance. Eventually I purchased a matching center CSC55, and bookshelf surrounds CSB5 to match my towers. I was blown away by how much excitement I had been missing all of these years when watching a movie with poor audio. Then I upgraded my reciever to an Onkyo TX-SR606 and was introduced to high def audio, again another milestone that kept me engaged. I loved my JBL system, it was a looker and it sounded great. However I was always drawn to Klipsch, perhaps because my friend that worked at HHGregg had a Synergy system. I was still in college so I was on a pretty tight budget back then but was able to put together my JBL system, reciever and sub all for around $700, retail was probably somewhere around $2300 for my system so I was happy with it. However I'm the type of person that loves to change things up and after getting my business up and running and making a decent living I wanted to change things up a bit...I ended up purchasing a Klipsch SUB12 to replace my JBL ES250P first. Then shortly after Klipsch discontinued the XF line and Vanns had a blowout on them. I was always drawn to this speaker setup but never dreamed I would spend that much on speakers ($4495 retail), therefore never thought I would see those speakers anytime soon. I was able to unload my JBL system and SUB12 and Onkyo 606 to my brother in law for $1000 and put that money towards the XF-48 system and a new Onkyo 608 reciever which total ran me about $1600. The XF system is a beautiful speaker. And it sounded great, bass wasn't as great as I was hoping for or what I was used to with the SUB12, however living in a townhouse I couldn't play at a desired volume as often as I would of liked, so the XFs seemed like an even more reasonable move for me at the time. I had the XF system for a little over a year however it always left something to be desired, it was a cobination of the XL-23s lack of power and the lack of bass of the entire system. Sometimes the bass was there but sometimes it just wasn't when it should have been. So I tossed around the idea of adding a sub and switching out my center to a definitive mythos 9 or 10 but while I love good audio, cosmetics and esthetics mean alot to me and my wife as well so I think the cosmetic difference of the definitive would've bothered me even if it sounded better. So I just decided to change it all up again and unload my XF-48 system and wanted to get a reference line. Sold my XF system to a local guy for $1200 which was essentially what I paid for it a year ago so I was happy with that. Was able to put together a beautiful cherry RF-62ii, RC-62ii, and RB-61ii combo. Would like to thank JasonJCarney for the RFs, and USNRET for the RBs, and Acoustic Sound Design for the RC. The RFs arrived first from Jason just as described 9.5/10 and got them hooked up immediately. Was kinda glad it happened this way as it gave me some time with them as a stereo setup and would've been happy with just that. Got to listen and know the speaker well before I added the center and surrounds. The bass output on the 62s is greater than my XF48s which I wasn't expecting. Monday my RC and RBs showed up and got them installed immediately. Like I said cosmetics are important to me as well and these are beautiful speakers. The cherry veneer is beautifully matched with my cherry hardwoods. I made special mounts for the RC (I own a machine shop so this was easy to do, essentially copied the pinpoint center channel mount, just beefed it up a bit to hold the monster of an RC-62) to give it the floating on the wall effect which turned out great. I had to mount the RBs a little higher than ideal due to room constraints but still turned out good. At first my wife and I just thought wow these are huge speakers, especially compared to the JBL and XF48 systems we had previously had since both of those systems were flat panel design driven. However the size has grown on me and they really look great in the room. I've been blown away by the RF-62 setup, the sound is perfect. I am adding a subwoofer still even though the bass output with this system is greater than the XF system. It's something that I won't have turned on very often but want to have the capability to use the sub if the guys are over and we really wanna feel the bass. The subwoofer choice was the hardest decision of all. Literally for a week every single day I went back and forth between 4 or 5 subs. (Jason's Paradigm DSP3100, Epik Legend or Empire, HSU VTF-15H, or a Lava LSP12) Pretty broad range I know but let me explain. Considered the paradigm because I felt comfortable with Jason now after making the RF transaction and knew the sub would be as described for a great price $350. The EPIKs have always been the subs I've always wanted and been drawn to. Why ? I dunno really I just have. The HSU only because there was a like new one I could get basically for half off of what a brand new one would run me. The LAVA well because it seemed like the most practical choice, If you're an AVS forum member you can grab one of these for $287. And with my previous 2 subs, the ES250P and SUB12 were both more than enough for my room. I figured the LSP12 was going to atleast be on par with these if not a little better at a great price, plus I like the look of the sub, again cosmetics are important. The deciding factor was LAVA offers a 30 day trial period where if you're not happy send it back and they will refund your money. So I pulled the trigger on it and it should be here tomorrow. The output is supposed to be great from 35hz and up but falls off pretty quickly once you go below that. So EQing and room placement will be a key factor. I already know the sweet spot in my room and with audysseys help I think this will be more than enough sub for my room, but if not i'll send it back and most likely get a Legend. I've searched the Klipsch forum for LAVA subs and found no results and was a little surprised. Anyways I'll let you guys know my subjective opinion on the sub when I get it setup tomorrow and how it compares to the SUB12 in case anyone else is interested. Below I'm gonna post some pictures of my past JBL system, XF system, my new RF system, and some other random photos. Hope you guys enjoy my thread and thanks for looking and thanks for the wealth of knowledge this forum provides. Cheers!
