Schu Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Could this unit be used to PASSIVELY control the crossover for a Jubilee 2 way system? Crossover network for the Utopia Be Focal NO6ACTIVE 2-Way Systems Two woofer knobs give you a choice of 10 low-pass frequency settings and 8 different crossover slopes The tweeter knobs let you select from 7 high-pass frequencies and 8 level selections In total, the Crossblock gives you 80 woofer settings and 56 tweeter settings Heavy-duty, hand-rolled coils and capacitors High efficiency and low distortion Quote
mark1101 Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Neat unit. But you would still need to EQ. Why not a pair of passive networks and an EQ? Quote
babadono Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 And....correct me if I'm wrong...... still no driver time/phase alignment. Quote
babadono Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 High $$$$$ ( I am assuming) crossover with electrolytic capacitors? Hmmm Quote

Schu Posted April 13, 2018 Author Posted April 13, 2018 So these would probably be better suited for a direct radiator application versus a long horn loaded LF. Quote
pzannucci Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Focal two way speakers likely using Be tweeters will have a much higher crossover than what is used to the typical 402 horn. 1 Quote
Coytee Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Do I recall that Roy's original crossover cost about $600 to build? (maybe it was cost of parts or something?) Looks like this one is $1,000 after a $300 savings. http://www.woofersetc.com/focal-utopia-be-cross-block-crossover-network-for-the-utopia-be-2-way-systems.html Quote

Roy designed a passive for Jubilee, it is pinned and up here somewhere. You have to live with the time alignment issue. @mark1101 has experimented with this extensively and can tell you his opinion about passive vs. active with time delay, and analog vs. digital crossovers. Moderators Travis In Austin Posted April 14, 2018 Moderators Posted April 14, 2018 This is a Jube passive Quote

Coytee Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 This might give a better perspective on size.... it's big..... really big. 1 Quote

Coytee Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 I think he hangs them on his wall as functioning art. Quote
Coytee Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 Yeah...one person could carry them....then you realize what might happen to you if you dropped it with nowhere to hide.... Quote
