HIFI-NEWS La Scala AL5 review

Recommended Posts

Great to see a very positive review of this latest version of the LaScala, much- deserved and well written. Great work on this, Roy!

Fantastic review, finally people can read about what La Scala owners have known and heard for years

I thought it was a far better review than the one of the Khorn. I would also disagree about listening to softer music. I  find certain orchesrtral music to be incredibly relaxing on my La Scalas. Perhap they were simply listening too loudly.

Hope no one minds but I tried to take some pictures that would show off how great Klipsch did with the new design that allows the veneer grain pattern to flow continuesly on the cabinet.

This is the right La Scala

Great looking speakers Mike, bet they sound just as good!

As for the article, just as I was getting sick of all the metaphors, he came up with the La Scala is like "a double espresso  in an instant coffee world"! Kinda liked that one.

I haven't heard the AL5 version, yet.  I did get to hear an AL4 and it didn't sound much different than my '81s.  I am running a tractrix tweeter, now, too.  So, their frequency response curve is bothersome.  My system measured +/-4 dB re 1k in my old house, up to 14k, and was reasonably balanced across the spectrum.  I don't think I hear what their response curve shows.

The descriptions of detail and sounding "live", yes.

Take 3db off the tweeter :-)  Similar to the khorn review measurements.

Very very nice mikebse2a3
