    • Thanks for the lead on the Type E, that opens up a few more options. Looking at some photos of different original autotransformers, some look pretty beat up and weathered. Do the windings get loose and go out of spec at all?
    • here you go $250. for two nice looking AAs:   https://www.ebay.com/itm/256344675717?_skw=klipsch+crossover&itmmeta=01J9M3Z251M1C8HPWTSTBGNR8G&hash=item3baf555585:g:nC4AAOSw4tdi-Q8m&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKmyzwFg7DlJQkIaOIckSod2z9IHs%2FTX3AKe897sQ9YB%2FZh7SVxOiU6pofIo1dNyoVH6gjfGDFKcnpQQHoViwNFTGq8siXR0DUffKz4Gl%2BQ%2BEEGgK77SILJrtpgTrvX8Kzie%2FTGssXOdXyimLRlsT9Man7mb3PNpISqO7aD1zybIhXGHbDm19UY%2F8Xz512kLndYZ3G%2FeL3DHgc%2Bgp303%2FMrcFCWxn81HnE9JphFX9iw0g2lQ%2Bvq9ZDxe3TnJlk3w1Xg%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR9ai_IPNZA
    • @Jdiesel87, snipe a pair of E crossovers off of eBay for 150 bucks and then get the polyester caps you need from Crites and the tweeter coil from Parts Express.   There's probably a pair on eBay as we speak.    I really think you want the T2A autoformer. There's some magic there with the K-55.    When it's all said and done you might be in for less than $300.   Don't be shy with any questions. The more you ask the more opinions you will get. Most of them qualified, lol.
    • You may want to put a WTB in the garage sale section...someone will likely be able to help you
    • Building this crossover yourself is absolutely not rocket science. It's very straightforward and really easy if you know how to solder. There are plans for it all over the place. Instead of investing the money in a Crites crossover, I would try to find old type AA on the web, for example on hifishark.com , or buy the components. I'm not familiar with the subject, but I remember that there was talk here on the forum that bass coils, tweeter coils and T2A autoformers can be bought again @Deang. The T2A for the squaker is the most rare component. You can also buy the other two coils generically... plus the JEM caps. Just a suggestion instead of Crites.
    • I'm unfortunately starting from scratch with them as my current cabinets have already been pillaged for parts by the previous owner and currently contain no crossovers.
    • Question is how much are these 15 year old RF-83's with some seemingly cosmetic blemishes worth today?
    • I’d love to check out those banca boats—seems like such a cool way to get around.
    • My friend inspected and listened to the RF-83's over the weekend.  His report was the speakers sound great.  The cabinets are in good condition and while 3 of the 6 drivers have small dings/dents and a single scratch they otherwise seem to be in good condition and the sound is not impacted by the cosmetic dings/scratch.  Grills are in good condition as well and function as supposed to with magnets accounted for.  Seller has had them just over a year and got them from a pawn shop which seems a little concerning but seeming how they still sound good I shouldn't let that fact deter me(?)
