Cosmic_surfer, Hi! Welcome to the forums!! Come in and stay a while.... I bought my mother and father a RF-7 home theatre setup and I use to have Klipschorns and La Scalas. I now have 7 Klipsch TSCMs which is the Klipsh Pro Version of Klipschorns. To me, the RF-7s provide a very nice home theatre and an obvious wife or mother acceptance factor, but the Referance is not nearly as good for music to my ears, and as such, the Heritage also makes a more articulate center channel. Anything the Heritage may lack in Bass can be handled by a Killer sub or two, or four subs!! The main recquisition for Heritage like Klipschorns and La Scalas is space. You need a room big enough to not only look appropriate, but to let them breathe. Many here will argue that Klipschorns sound good in a small room, and they do, but you really haven't heard them if you haven't heard them with 20 feet between the right and left channels. How big is the room you are thinking of doing in Heritage anyhow??? Look forward to your response. Roger

Found some excellent condition Belle's (4) on CL locally. Original owner purchased new in 82-83, all original. My first listening experience with these in his garage. He powered them for me with a vintage Pioneer receiver and they sound fantastic. Looking forward to bringing these back so spec for an even greater experience......sorry for the crappy iPhone pics Running these now in 2 channel from the Oppo and wow, incredible sound.

If he named them, he is the DADDY. Now, as the whether they are Heritage, or not is neither here, nor there; they are ALL Klipsch.

I mentioned that i recently jumped into home theatre and purchased a fleet of reference class speakers. I have started getting interested in the heritage series speakers (Khorns, la scala, belle, etc.) and was curious how these compared to the reference speakers i purchased (rf-7, rc-7, rs-7, rsw-1)? I have seen from the specs that the heritage class speakers dont really have the punch that my reference speakers have, but do they excel in areas that my reference speakers do not? Is it feasible to assemble a second set of theatre speakers consisting entirely of heritage speakers? I definitely am appealed to their furniture like appeal.

What is the material that is inside the cabinets that looks and feels like a layered paper, secured with string? What's the term used for it? Can it be purchased anywhere? Or should it be replaced? Mine is very, very fragile, and in one of the cabinets has been ravaged by mice....

I don't really agree that they sound way different. I ran them side by side for hours and think they sound more alike than different. The cornwalls have a little bigger bass and a bigger voice than the rf7ii. The rf7ii has better top end sparkle that sounds a little better. Both speakers play with an effortless sound. And they both have that same klipsch sound. But thats compared with the top of the reference line per say. vs the lower levels the heritage would walk all over them imo. So in general with all speakers in the reference line included i would say the heritage line are just a better speaker with better everything. This is my opinion of course and i only own the cornwalls and heresys.

I honestly feel that anything would be better than what I have experienced. For the past 6 years i have only had the stock soundbar on my 52" sharp aquos. Before that, my dad had a sony 5.1 system out of the box. It was decent at the time and really changed the home theatre experience at the time. I am not really asking which speakers are better, I was just asking what areas the heritage speakers excelled at better than the reference line. It sounds like they would be more laid back and smoother. I really don't feel that one is better than the others, but the longer i own klipsch, the more I want to follow the rabbit into wonderland. If I have it my way I will have 2-3 home theatre audio setups, just to switch it up once in a while.

When I was very young, my father had a friend who was a custodian at a local hospital in Syracuse, NY. He was a kind, gentle, hard working man. His employer did not provide him with health care coverage. Imagine, a hospital not providing their unskilled workforce with insurance. I will never forget the day (I was probably 10 years old) when I saw him tear up after the death of his wife from cancer. He was telling my father that he found out that his wife, prior to her death, had been cutting her pain pills in thirds because they had no insurance and the pain pills were expensive. She did not want her husband to know that she was stretching out the medication because, even though she was dying, she did not want HIM to feel bad that he could not afford her medication. I am sorry, but in the richest nation in the history of time, how can ANYONE deny health care coverage to another? Are we savages?

I run a reference set up close to yours in a dedicated ht room, and a heritage ht in the family room. I don't think your missing to much with what you have. If you were just starting out i think the heritage would be the way to go. They are really awesome speakers for the money on the used market. As far as bass the Cornwall have more bass than any speakers i have spent any time with . I think depending what you get it wouldn't be a huge upgrade but if you go really big like 3 402 horns with horn bass below that would be an upgrade worth doing imo of course.

I would go with one or the other for the HT. I own a RF system and I don't think it is lacking in any area for HT. A subwoofer/s will be the dominate player on the low end for HT. I also don't see much advantage to not running the satellites as small and handing over the bass and LFE to a sub/s. Music taste is a whole different ballgame. A kick azz system for HT can be done with THX, Reference, Heritage, Icon or Syneregy.

I feel that Michael is probably one of the better members to give us an honest review on dean’s work. Some of us have no problem with being brutally honest and some of us are reserved with what we truly think and feel. I have read several of Michael’s reviews over time and if you were to bring up his comparison over the RF-83s, RF-7s and RF-7iis he was quite upfront and honest on each and every piece explaining what he thought was good or not on each product. He didn’t rave on how the RF-7iis were the best of the 3 being that they were the newest revolutionary reference speaker from Klipsch. He had no problem pointing out that the original RF-7s are a very bright speaker and can be fatiguing to listen to, or that the 83s were a very laid back and don’t provide the upfront in your face sound that both the RF-7 and RF-7iis provide. I feel he has given a good honest input so far and just has been busy and unable to spend a lot more time with them. I understand that part of the point in this argument was that the bias would be because he received the work done for free and feel obligated to post greatness on them but for the cost that he paid for the entire RF-7II package deal he found on craigslist he might as well of gotten them for damn free at that price and could have posted that they were a must buy for all klipschonites. The thread got to off topic and I look forward to hearing some final thoughts later in the week on if he enjoys the new sound dean’s XO’s brought to an already incredible speaker and think Michael has given a more honest review than some could.

welcome to the forum David. first thing is DO NOT try and remove the grills until you find out what year they are. the grills are not removable on them until 1975 ( the letter N = 1975 ) and all letters in the serial number from A thru M serial numbers are stamped into the wood on the top back edge up to 1983 ( Y )

While having my second cup and listening to the words to Tommy by The Who on CNBC I wondered if the words would have to be altered to reflect the zeitgeist or politically correct environment of today? The line "that deaf, dumb, and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball"......would that now read "that hearing impaired, vocally challenged, visually impaired adolescent sure plays an aggressive pinball and always shares with his team mates". I have a pair of the Jabo horns available on Ebay. They are made of fiberglass I believe and have a gelcoat finish. You might consider that method of construction. They seem to be tough too as I dropped one and no damage occurred.

Niles equipment is great. It seems like they make everything nobody else fools with. Since you are using a 12V trigger device, you can get a Niles AC-3 to turn on the device when you switch to that device. That's what I do, and it works great.

I forget what they call that stuff but dang dude if you dont like'em hollar...i got cash for another pair...not enough room...although i will stack them. Prolly be there in a couple hours and you wont ever have to worry about that stuff again...Cheers!

I find this interesting also since I've heard them on a couple of occasions and thought they were very well balanced, I noticed an MC275 was listed with them and wondered if you have tried them with the different speaker taps of the unit? miketn I was just kidding. I was trying to lighten the mood. They are very nice sounding speakers. omg lol I also read in the mark livinson amp sale thread and i was hooked...im not even gonna alter my above post lol Bless you :lol:

They didn't support my argument. You just happen to be the latest in a pool of posters across multiple threads that question our objectivity because of free parts and/or labor. I guess i don't know what the pool is but thats what it seemed.

Palladium is state of the art, there is nothing to "upgrade". I could possibly reduce some of the attenuation, but it depends on how they implemented it. How about some Teflon capacitors - I could probably do the networks for less than $2K. : )

Its so frustrating these days being about 40 and how twisted the listening to music has become. I understand the dead spot many years ago and appreciate filling that with a center. I also hold dearly audio blurays and sacd truly it is a great standard to show the appeal of true surround sound music. Money is the factor i find that has saturated the world with music in surround sound. To actually walk in to a store so very few and so very far away with any 2 channel setups for demo then buy are basically obsolete. I do watch my movies in surround. Music on the other hand under all circumstances should be in 2 channel. Its so simple. And manufacturers that cater to the 2 channel truth music movement as i see it reserve such a premium to obtain the gear to enjoy 2 channel if you can find it at all. Its all on the internet by order and take a chance and send it back if its not what you want. And even at that point with a 2 or 3 way 2 channel system a subwoofer makes music happen in ways that need to be done. There are still not 2.1/2.2 preamps made to provide the clarity other than to use lfe which is a loss in so many cases of valuable tones of bass. I do not understand why surround sound has completely wrapped music into a non possibility of 2.1 or there about due to the surround sound movement. Its terrible

TV dinner part 2 21oz choice NY Strip for the Game of Thrones premier last Sunday . Strip was coated in chilled bacon fat then rubbed with salt , black pepper and brown sugar . Grilled over store bought Kingsford charcoal . Cut that sucker in half and broiled it with a healthy amount of jalapeno pimento cheese . Plated with spicy black beans and tomato turmeric rice . Side ceaser slad with tomatos and spicy ranch ." I lika the spice " For desert double coconut and almond ice cream with a bunch of frozen Heath Bar miniatures .
