  1. I have been looking for a new (used) boat. I decided on a 22' to 28' Sea Ray bowrider. While conducting my search, my favorite Craig's List ad read, "EXCELENT BOAT, NO DISAPPOINTMENTS. NEEDS NEW ENGINE AND OUTDRIVE." Other than that Mrs. Linclon, how did you enjoy the play?

  6. Now that is pretty cool.... Didn't know they did that ! Yes they can, I have ran into them a few times operating a tractors and bulldozers, they attack even the equipment trying to sting it and they hurt for a good while. Just as bad is the Ginny wasp which look similar in color but like to build nest in bushes. These suckers hurt till the next day and leave a bump for days on your skin.

  7. Hornets built a nest on my house. I called a guy that came out after dark and removed the nest just for the hornets. He placed a ladder just under the next. Climbed up with a machete and a garbage bag. After carefully pushing the garbage bag over the nest, he cut it free from the house. He told me after getting home he would drop it in a freezer for the night. Next day he would separate the hornets and ship them to a pharmaceutical company to use in making anti-venom.

  8. I have a friend from Croatia he has the same attitude, he is a very nice guy. He is marring a friend of my wife's, he cant believe the things she is buying for the wedding. He says we spend to much money on pointless things. I don't even try to talk to him about stereos, if its not small or practical he wants nothing to do with it. Except his car. One thing for sure, don't offer him any tickets to see Nebraska play this year....

  10. So far so good, wife in mourning over the the last cat, so be it. Ant's/pool service and by that time i should be ready to fire up the stacks. It's been a few days, dont want the neighbors to think i moved. When that neighbor came over, i just happened to be wearing the Klipsch shirt, and stated i would "Adjust" back my Bass, however by no means was i going to stop enjoying my self between the hours of 7am and 10pm. I await my morning Tarheel update before getting along with my day.....

  11. Just thought I would post a few photos of what the recessed wall should look like. Grabbed these right off the Seymour website. Hopefully I can get this done within the next 2 weeks and start mounting the Kl-650s as well as the JTR’s. definitely interested to see how the anamorphic lens will work with the curved screen.

  12. My KP 360's are much like the Chorus line-up. I drive my KP360's with a Carver TFM 42. That set-up is at my auto shop :-) I am trying to get a friend of mine to get the KP 301's cuz I want my other set of 360's back lol lol...

  13. I really like my KP-301-II's which are a professional Chorus I believe. I put Crites crossovers and Titanium diaphragms in them. They thump and sparkle. They accompanied me to the last gathering and impressed a few that had never heard them before. They're some big ugly suckers though. I love 'em.

  14. Love my Chorus II's! They definitely dwarfed my original Forte's in size. I loved how deep the Forte's could go, but I just love the mid's and the highs on the Chorus' even more. And when you are able to situate them in a good corner the bass on them can be pretty impressive too with enough power.

  15. I had offered you a demo of my personal chorus ii's a couple months ago(my preferred mains). If your impressed by stock chorus ii the clarity and thump my chorus ii's provide would be a step above or more. Anyhow cheers on your chorus ii demo. In my opinion out of any klipsch ever made the chorus ii and the epic cf4 are truly in a league of their own. Then with mods they go beyond anything(although iv only heard stock cf4's) I have ever heard or truly prove their value at a fraction of many other manufacturers models by quite a bit, imo Its amazing to demo all that klipsch has. Everybody has their own take with preference in sound and klipsch tailors to this variety with the variety of klipsch models

  17. I just don't like that idea. I mean, I understand it, especially if someone is flat broke - but consider: Most people will only do this once, so what is the point in half-assing it? You can't make a signal better, you can only make it worse. The signal leaves the amp - that right there is as good as it gets. If the downstream components corrupt the signal, the network isn't going to fix it. Most of us know that, so we ask a lot of questions about preamplifiers and amplifiers - and spend a good deal of money on them too. This full range signal then hits the network, where the signal is split up and gets sent to its respective driver. At this point we should quit using words like "crossover" and "network" - we should really be seeing these things for what they really are - filters. So, we have simple filters that really don't do much except tie the drivers together, and then we have complex filters - which correct for all manner of things. The preferred approach is left to the individual. The parts issue has become such a point of contention, for reasons that make no sense whatsoever. Build any piece of audio gear with cheap parts, and though it will be affordable and sound pretty decent - I think we're all smart enough to know that it won't sound as good as the higher priced stuff. Why? Why is the expensive stuff "expensive"? Like I say on my site - sometimes it's brand related, but people forget that the brand became "established" largely due to an established pattern of using high quality materials and superior workmanship. Capacitors, resistors and inductors aren't any different. The price point the part inhabits is mostly related to the materials and the amount of hassle that goes into making it. Some things seem overpriced, until you learn more about how they're made. Jupiter Flat Stacks are a good example, which are mostly made by hand. The advantage is that the film isn't put under any form of duress while being manufactured. Due to the amount of time and effort it takes to make these, combined with lackluster sales - Jupiter has decided to discontinue making them. A simply amazing product is going away, and in my world, it's like being told that BMW is going out of business. There is a real lack of consistency when it comes to this topic. We have all of these different parts, and they're all really quite different in many ways, and yet we are told by some that a single measurement has determined that they are "the same" - and so sound the same. Seriously, in what other world does that happen in? Amplifiers? Preamps? Cars? No, only on message boards. Reality is this: things that use different materials, or use them in a different way, and are built differently, WILL perform differently - and they will also not sound the same. Effective marketing requires that outlandish claims be made - you see it with everything. It's a shame that flooby dust and voodoo are such a big part of this hobby, but if you dig, the engineering behind the product is there. Try to remember that we are not average consumers. Average consumers don't have much interest in the engineering behind things, and the manufacturers of these various parts know this. I've spent countless hours on the phone running people down who will talk to me about their product, only to be told, "I would very much appreciate it if you kept that to yourself." A 2uF Dayton capacitor costs $1.48. It is an entry level metallized capacitor. The film is so thin that if you touch it and try to handle it, it immediately begins to tear. They sound okay - much better with DC biasing applied. A 2uF AudioCap PPT Theta costs $18.41. The Theta is a film and foil type. Construction is vastly different, which is reflected in the price. I don't want to hear how the price is what it is because it's an "audiophile" capacitor - because you will pay the same or more for a Vishay of the same type. ESR measurements won't be all that different, they will both be in the milliohms. Raise your hand if you think these two parts, which are made completely different - will sound the same? So, which do you really want handling the filtering duties between your amplifier and your drivers? When comparing capacitors of the same type, there are differences there as well. The Auricap XO and the Sonicap are both metallized capacitors. The Auricap XO is double wound (one of those things I'm not supposed to talk about). So, physically, they are significantly bigger than a Sonicap of the same value and voltage rating. Everything from the top down is different, including lead terminations. Think they sound the same? I wish people would exhibit some common sense with this stuff. A $2 cap is a $2 cap for a reason.

  18. First of all, I didn't realize the size of those beasts....they don't look that big in pictures....but, they were mighty impressive! Pretty well balanced overall, but they do definitely thump....Didn't buy them as I thought they were WAY overpriced relative to what I've seen here on the forum and elsewhere, but at least now I know....And, interestingly and coincidentally, they were driven by a Marantz 2270B receiver, which I saw for sale earlier in the Garage Sale (not the same one)......nice unit.

  31. What I have learned from building active systems is that the processor is the heart..........your budget shoudl be generous here. If you try to cheap out, the whole experience is ruined. Ask me how I know. You need a good (expensive) processor.....trust me on this. The other thing you need is I/O.......trust me on this also. a 6 output device is not enough. It will only do a stereo 3 way system, and no subs, and no spares. You need at least 8 outputs........you will expand your setup and be in a pickle if you cheap out on your processor.......just my 2 cents. If you are concerned about budget...........get passive networks and forget about building a good active system.

  37. im sure it would. i just ran audyssey with my denon 1713 downstairs to try that out. same thing. all negative 12 except for the sub. subs at -7.5 i got out the omnimic and checked levels. fronts were at 77 and and surrounds around 73. so just turned the rears up 4 db an subs up 4 db as well so everything was level matched. not sure dean. all i know is that my speakers are just too efficient for my room. go figure they are movie theater speakers. however i love their sound. is it possible if you did my crossovers that i sent you yesterday that you could make them less efficient? not sure if that would even be a good idea or possible. i should probably just get the pro amps like i am thinking and turn the gain down to a tolerable level and go from there.

  43. This is the center I've used for years with LS front and CW rears. Bigger horn than the Academy. I've had two Academies while owning this lovely and sold them both. This is a great deal for somebody. To my ears and thought process this would go great with the Legend Series (Chorus, forte, Quartet) also.

  44. Thanks! We typically don't travel too far from Portland, with the coast being about as far as we'll go. Anything that distance or further means living away from home during the week, which can be a blessing or a curse. Our design team is less limited, with projects in Hawaii, and as far away as Morocco. It's very satisfying to work on this end of the spectrum, with some designs being built in the $2000 per square foot range. Not for everybody's pocketbook, and nothing speculative.
