  1. From the link Chad provided: Klipsch didn't insert the vulgarity thoughtlessly, and I'm sure they have deliberate reasons for using that exact phrase. I'll speak for myself, I don't like it; I find it tasteless. It's 1970's thinking. In fact, it's 1970's thinking that didn't work even in the 1970's. I already have a Klipsch sub, but with that kind of advertising it doesn't make me feel like I want to buy another. I'm just not the kind of person who has such anger, that I want to buy a product just to piss off another human being.

  8. I have the RSW-15. If Klipsch is working on a replacement for that is there a place I can pre-order? I love that sub but it's a bit long in the tooth electronics-wise and I'd rather put monies into a new sub than fixing an old one.

  9. Chad, That was awesome. Let someone else say it. Bill

  10. So they are improved! Good, very good. In what ways? Specs sure look nearly identical for the SW-115 & the New 15". 'Course, if you wanna send me one of each, I'll write an extensive review.

  11. I would guess the performance of these are similar to the SW-110, SW-112. and SW-115 that they replace. But I will say they look much nicer IMO!

  14. So over the past few months I upgraded everything and I want to hook everything up soon. I have rc64 with 2- rf83s 2-rs7s and 2-rb81s with 2 SVS pb12 nsd sub's and a Denon 4520, panamax surge and a pioneer bd62f blu ray player and a 60 inch Samsung 8500. First option but the room won't be ready for a couple month is in the basement all walls are concrete the room is 8.6 ft by 24 ft unfinished. The other is the master bedroom which has five walls. The north wall is 14ft the west wall is 15 and the east wall is about 10 ft and the other 2 walls are about 8 ft. I don't know exact measurements but can get them. I leaning towards the upstairs master bedroom, just wish the basement room was wider and somewhat finished. And I am single so that is why I can put everything in the bedroom and I'll make the spare room the master.

  15. Pulled the carpet out of the living room and replaced it with pergo. Looks fantastic but I've lost the sonic mojo. SOMETHING is out of whack and I can't fix it because I can't put my finger on exactly what it is that I need to fix (short of putting carpet back down and the wife isn't about to let that happen) frequency-wise. I've jiggled the EQ and and I've adjusted the sub but it just isn't the same. /cry.

  16. Ignorance is bliss, especially when it comes to home theater subwoofers. Unless you are forced down the rabbit hole, I would avoid it. Not trying to discredit you in any way, you just seem to like the equipment you already own (many of us do). It's just not fair to compare a $200 Polk sub that has been out for a few years to a new $899 Klipsch model that only a handful of people have actually heard. I am still confused about your integrate comment though..

  17. I have tested other Klipsch subs against it. So yes, I do know that to me it sounds better and have found no reason to call it mediocre by any means. I wasn't aware I was supposed to give you a headline grabbing comparison - I was under the impression I was going to give you the model of the sub I personal find suits my ears better. But whatever you guys say. I'd like to think that I know what sounds best to me between the two more than someone who isn't me, who doesn't know my room specs, and who hasn't heard the same that I've heard. I still stand by what I say in that I don't think (I said think, yes) that there's much here that I don't already have - and that I don't like what I've heard from Klipsch subs from the RSW line to now. I don't hate Klipsch for it, I just don't like what the subs sound like - I didn't know I was overstepping some huge line of logic.

  22. Rick, I'm not going to start a gray vs. black plate tube discussion "war!" But, if you really want to evaluate differences in brands (as that is much more likely to render sonic differences than the color of the plate or whether the pins are gold plated or not), have a trusted friend come over and swap tubes while you are blindfolded. Then simply listen to no more than a 2 minute track without changing the position of the volume control. You may be amazed at the conclusions you draw when the knowledge of which tubes you are hearing is removed from your consideration. The sonic differences are usually traceable to manufacturer differences in inter-electrode capacitance, transconductance, and other factors. And even from the same manufacturer, variations from one lot to another may be audible as a result of the normal production tolerances. In any event, with small signal tubes the lifespan should be so long that once you find those you prefer it's unlikely you will need to change them for a very long time. Maynard

  24. Also use a felt rug pad under your area rugs, which come in various thickness, preferably 3/8" or 1/2". Naturally you don't want to cover too much of your pergo floors, but perhaps you could get a larger area rug and still see and enjoy a large portion of your pergo. We have hickory hardwood floors and a 8' x 10.5 foot rug between two L shaped couches, but there is plenty of hickory still visible. The right balance is a personal preference. Haven't done the percentages, but I think the rug is only covering about 30-40%. Then again, I am not using Khorns in this room, but using the 7.1 reference HT setup. I guess Rick and I were posting the same time.

  25. It's the floor bounce from your "collapsing polar midrange horns". You'll need at least an area rug for each loudspeaker, starting at the front face of each box and extending out toward your listening position for at least 2 feet--and 4 feet would be better, and at least the width of each loudspeaker. Having a rug that extends from your loudspeakers to halfway to your listening position would be even better--on each side. BTW if you can post a pix of your setup + floor in front, it might also help the troubleshooting. Chris

  32. The Duggans is tasting mighty fine this Monday morning. I have no plan of the day, coffee w/wife. 80s today, dry w/fires, normal in Kalifornia for this time of year. Hear on the news last night, all current fires suspected arson, yup just another normal Kalif season.

  33. Is it for sale? Do you have a price in mind? What is a potential buyer to do really? I never have understood what a "feeler" is supposed to do I guess. A bump non the less. All good valid points. The "feeler" thing is kind of like if anyone PM's a seller and inquires about the item(info, condition, etc.), requests more photos, and price options. In my case specifically, I am currently using the Denon on an almost daily basis, and did not want to go the the trouble of removing this 40+ lbs beast of a player, take a bunch of photos, only to put it all back together if no real interest. The Denon DCD-3520(and 3560) is one of those "special" pieces that potential buyers know what they are looking for and are just waiting for one to occasionally pop up for sale in good very good condition. 34. Hi gang. Just wanted to take back what I said earlier about Peet's Major Dickason's Blend back on post #2987: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/148141-coffee-and-cables/?p=1778276 I messed up the French press process which is pretty easy to do. Ran a trial cup through the trusty Zuto and the difference was night and day. After some research, I determined my mistakes to be water too hot, and using way too much bean (I don't have a scale small enough yet, so I've been going by the spoonful ). Although I'd still consider Major Dickason's Blend on the robust side of the flavor scale, having dialed back the water temp and amount of bean has yielded one helluva good, strong cup with a very smooth yet tasty finish. Easily 5 stars for a dark-roast cup, just like all the previous reviewers.

  44. It's so easy to find the winner in this debate. Try it both ways and see which way sounds better. Everybody has different gear, speakers and subs. Every room is different. Push a couple buttons and see what you like.

  45. I think that plays those giant plastic CD's from the old days ?
    1 point
  46. It depends on the sub. Some subs play well up to 200-300 Hz. I guess the bigger question is wether the OP is wondering if the Veldyne sub can keep up with his mains. Mustang guy said best: when you keep turning up the volume of the system, the sub volume should go up with the speakers. If it can't you have your answer.
