  2. We cook up about 2 gallons, i get a day with it then the wife takes over, she likes her spices, so in the last few years i split the pot, she gets to do anything she wants to hers, and i like mine on the mellow side.

  3. Speaking of chili. Who has chili one night and then a couple nights later has chili dogs with the leftover chili? Man, those are the best!

  4. Morning gang 57 in the cave Dryer is installed, all new vent hoses, flapper thingy, and all metal this time around. Pulling the old one out yesterday i found we (had) a visiting mouse, last cat died two months ago. The mouse was stashing cat food under the dryer/washer and only could have come in at night when we left the side door open. Chili cookin weather, think ill do that today.

  6. So the guy I am installing the ceiling speakers for, is flipping the house. So I never took the time to recommend any speakers. Guess I didn't have to as he knew what was good. I was actually quite surprised when I opened the box.

  7. Finishing coffee, then need to go install some ceiling speakers for a guy. Then hopefully back to the house in time for the Husker/Wisconsin game. After that I am thinking beer and music.

  9. For me it would be a hard choice between chili and chili dogs, but never tried it with little smoky's. Although the little smoky's could be added to almost anything and make it better........Ok I just love meat I don't have a really good recipe for chili but when using ground beef I shape it into giant burgers and smoke it on the smoker then break it up in the pot, I like flavor better.

  10. Also, next time you make chili add those "little smoky" sausages to the chili. Takes it up a notch I tell ya!

  12. Hey guys. Coffee is good this morning. Every morning our eldest daughter has the coffee ready. My wife will get up and bring me my 1st cup. But this morning I got up and took coffee to her. So today will be wood stacking day. 3 cords of stacking. Today will be the 1st fire of the season. I think I'll give my self a break from the shop this weekend. We worked late all week. I had dinner with my old shop helper and his family last night. He is going to do a timming belt on my Odyssey van for me today. We have this joke with him that.........he can never repay me for all the crap I have done for him over the years..lol lol. .......Mark how's the dryer thing going? Take care all... :-)

  13. It wouldn't add to the value if I were the buyer, but who knows what the general public would find attractive? Might find a buyer who thinks this is a real upgrade over his Bose "system." At least it's Klipsch. In-ceiling probably has a decent WAF too. I'm just grateful my better half has no problem with my big honkin' floor standers.

  17. That is something you and I could agree on. However I have came to realize, that most people don't look at home audio like we do. Does it add value? No, but it may be a selling point or help sell the house at fair market. That's just my thought

  20. It did! I was the kid who always had to touch things and had to see what would happen if I put my hand over the nozzle. Of course the ball fell and rolled down the aisle. My mother had to get a clerk to put it back up. I naturally got tore up at the appropriate time when no one was around.

  22. If I had it like that right now I couldn't think of a nicer person to help out but unfortunately I have my own JVC projector fund that needs help LOL.

  23. If the whole house were wired for sound with in ceiling speakers I would say it adds value.

  26. I don't like the sub $2,500 stipulation. The only reason I say this is because I researched projectors a lot and feel like JVC is hands down the way to go but to get there you'll need $3000+ unless you can find a Youthman deal there in Florida somewhere. JVC makes an amazing projector. Nothing I have seen compares to them in 2d anywhere near their price range. As deep as you are into your theater room at this point, I'd either wait til you can swing a JVC or just dip into savings if you need to and make it happen. It's like the final stamp on the theater room and you should go all out on it IMO. LOL In all seriousness though, every JVC I have seen knocks your socks off.

  27. I think the crux of what is being said is... it's not the speakers. though even the 7's could probably be mod'ed to perform better. what is your listening room like? hardwood or bare floors?

  29. Mine too but I have to finish the spare bathroom first which is about 85% done. Maybe over Thanksgiving i will relate to my "new" digs we have been in for the last five years. My tails of living in a "Flipper" prepared house will amuse everyone.

  30. Good Afternoon gang Just workin on the second cup of Major Diciknsons Blend and waking up. There is NO such thing as "Overslept" or "Sleeping in" when Retired. Workin in the Cave into the Wee hours, neglected projects and such. One such task i MUST take on is thinning the tool collection, i just realized i have three of everything. I either get another rollaway, or keep just the new chit. I see most everyone is getting a taste of winter, time to prepare if not done already.

  31. I have a pair of medium oak KLF-10s for sale - local pickup. $225 for Forum members. They are functionally in great shape. There are some plant circles on the top from the previous owner and a few scratches. The grills are in great shape with badges. Let me know if interested and I can take more pics or answer any questions. Thanks, Brian

  34. I heard mixed results from folks using these test records based mainly on the fact that most home LP's have to deal with arch issues when manufacturing is done linearly. I have test records and have played them, but mainly I used the one I have to back up the set up and tuning I had done by ear. I don't have electronic test equip myself.

  36. Just curious how loud are you listening to them when you get ear fatigue? When I was comparing my RF-7 to my previous RF-83, I made a comment that I could easily see how at loud volume, one could get ear fatigue. Not so with the RF-83's because they were very smooth sounding, even at extreme volumes. The Onkyo might not be your problem, it's part of the characteristic of the RF-7's.I have been following this thread quite intently as I and Mattser have the same Onkyo 3008 running 7's. I have only really noticed ear fatigue on rare occasion where the system is being ran at very high db's for extended periods of time (read:parties), but isn't that kind of too be expected? If I weren't experiencing some fatigue from high volume, after lengthy listening, I'd begin to question my own hearing going out. That said, my previous receiver was also an Onkyo TX-NR609, much less ability but with apparently the same inherent sound profile. I didn't notice any harshness increase when upgrading, despite than listening at higher volumes more frequently just because I had the power, I also added the XPA-5 at the same time. My 3008 does very little work output wise, relegated to powering just the rears in an 7.2, or rears and fronts heights when I experimented with 9.2. I've been experiencing weird HDCP playback issues lately that I think may be the result of old firmware on the 3008. Haven't nailed it down yet, but I intend on swapping in an Emotiva UMC-1 at some point just to check if the problem persists. Overall I feel that the 3008 has been fantastic for me. The Audyssey XT-32 is fantastic room correction software, the wattage output is solid, build quality is great, UI is very intuitive. Now, had I spent $2500 I'm not sure that I'd have all of the same feelings, particularly with this handshake issue arising. However, at a used market price anywhere between $900-1200 when I bought it, it provided a great value IMO. Alas, much like anything else in life, personal preferences can play the single biggest role with ones happiness with what they own.

  37. I bought them! Paid $110 for them. Cabinets are in great shape except for a chunk missing out of the front bottom lip, not a big deal to me. Woofers and horns look fantastic and no issues with functionality. Hopefully I can move them into my house this weekend and push them a bit.

  39. QFT I had to google that Me too, and I'm pretty sure I'm the youngest one here I'm picking up an Emotiva later today. I'll try that out before making a decision on the mod. Thanks for your help, guys. I'll be back later. It saddens me that the consensus on my Onkyo is so negative, but it should work well as a pre-amp, right?

  48. You want live levels your gonna have to move from reference line. Setup up to the cinema line. I won't speak for him buy message ref head (now pro cinema head??) he will tell you about the differences between the rf-7ii and the kpt-904. If you've been chasing for years it would be wise to ask him his thoughts on it. But I can tell you my speaker hunt is over after getting into the cinema line. The 6 15's up front and the quad 18's give plenty of chest thump and get much louder than any rock concert I have ever been to in my life.
