  5. Good morning, all. This is TPD!! (Turkey Pickup Day). Ordered a fresh bird from a local meat market. Gonna brine it on Wednesday and smoke it on pecan wood on Thursday, then feed it to the mob. Most likely will not be looting it, either. Check back in a while. Cheers.

  7. The climate has been changing since the earth was formed. Over the last 450,000 years or so there have been 5 temperature cycles. The current cycle, the second warmest recorded, has peaked and is now trending downward. The warmest cycle, the one previous to the current cycle, occurred before man began using fossil fuels. Those who suggest "man made global warming" are ignoring a lot of evidence to the contrary.

  9. We are under attack! Again! I was going to take advantage of calling that number at the bottom, as controlling others has always been a dream of mine.

  10. A lot of receivers run hot under normal operation. I have a 10-year old Onkyo that can nearly burn your hand after playing loudly, but it's been cranking along all these years with no hiccups. I found that my RFs seem to really open up only after hitting 50% volume, getting incredibly loud around 75%.

  11. OK, TAZ. You know, in order for this whole experiment thing to work, you have to put your glasses on when you use the calculator.

  12. While I could, I am not going there. As someone once said: while I may be too old to cut the mustard, I can still lick the jar.

  13. Boxx.....I replaced my fronts with the Jubs and my rear surround Heresy III's with The LaScala II's. Again I thank you so much for all of your help. This is the best purchase ever and my son has already laid claim to these bad boys......I heard Jubs for the first time a few years ago in Hope, but they are even more impressive here in my familyroom..... 18. I had heard the same thing with a slight twist. Instead of nickels it was pennies (inflation??) and it directed the couple to put one in the jar each time for the first year after the wedding and start taking one out after the first anniversary. Yes, it supposedly would never empty.

  19. He stays away from home? Since he is married, I have always heard that it must mean spending the paycheck on her...... There is that old proverb (or was it an aphorism) that says a couple should place a nickel in a jar each time they have sex before marriage while dating. Once married, the couple should take a nickel out of the jar each time they have sex. Proverb (or aphorism) states that married couple will never empty the jar.

  21. What the heck. I offer my car up as a test mule to see what happens. If no increase, I'll stop. If the car suffers damage I'll quit. It's not like people, it can be replaced. I have a stereo system worth more then the car. As should be.

  22. Well he IS self proclaimed as being snarky. It doesn't help that I continually poke him with a stick though. One of these times he's going to turn around and snap my head off. I'll deserve it though.

  25. Lemmie guess. When your truck has an oil leak, you clean it off and put a big blob of RTV on it and call it a day, right? Edited for emoticon. Didn't want to appear too snarky to the snarky one.

  26. Arash, this seems exactly like Greg's horn. I use it with BMS 4592md mids. They sound great. Which tweeter and midbass you are planning to use it with. Have you done a crossover design? Check http://www.klipschupgrades.com/crossovers.shtml I am using the VTK400. Its great to have the flexibility on adjusting mid parameters and woofer cutoff point. I have padded down the bms drivers around 9db's. have also added 22 and 2.2 resistors to tweeters to pad them down 3db's, get the woofers cutoff lower and have a more flat response now. I am happy overall. I am planning on building a nice horn subwoofer. I have a few plans in my hands. I also will change the tweeters to fostex t500amkII's. If you have these, why not try and build a nice midbass. Maybe you can try the 80hz midbass at Inlow (http://inlowsound.weebly.com/diy-80hz-midbass-horn.html). It seems with your knowledge, the plans supplied and your equipment it ll be easy for you. You can then add a 20hz to 80hz hown sub to complement that. If you have good tweeters like the fostex ones (t900 or even t90a) then you are set. People with upgraded khorns get a good sound and sometimes stop investigating. I have been on a continous journey. I have covered 20 to 20k now and having the actual full range is really nice and its hard to turn back. Now I am looking for more resolution. Thats why I am going to change my sub to a horn sub and tweeters to t500amkII.

  28. The OP is clearly on a budget, not spending serious money, and is not a delusional audiophile, so what's your point aside from insulting the entire forum? Thanks for the post. I was kind of confused by what I was reading. By no means am I delusional audiophile. Just an A/V enthusiast of 20+ years, who is looking to make an upgrade and wants to reach out to the community so I can make the most informed decision possible based on member's past and present experiences.....

  29. Well guys as luck would have it my local Best Buy ran a sale starting yesterday and wouldn't you know it they had the R-10SW sub for $100 off of retail ($349) and I combined that with a $100 dollar gift card that I received for my birthday. Walked out with the sub for right around $160. It sounds great! Now its time to wake up some neighbors. Have a great Turkey Day everyone.

  30. My thoughts are he could take that 2K and buy one high quality tube amp that would sound far better than what he currently has or what he proposes with an Emotiva amp. Sometimes simpler is indeed better. Shakey

  32. Morning Gang Well after three guys spent the day near my driveway, ends up the guy that lives behind me has a hydrant in front of his house and the 10" main has cracked under his lawn, so no water shut down for the neighborhood. Spent the weekend shopping the web for boat goodies, i do love spending other peoples money, with this wonderfull tool Al Gore has given me, i shop the world, research my buys, and before i buy i do it two more times, end up with a deal dam near everytime because im in no hurry. Just started shopping for the audio system the farmer wants installed, this boat has many bench seats that are hollow storage underneath.....so we are talkin some major room for speaker install(s). Farmer likes his country music, i did not ask for his budget in mind, i just told him if he is going to listen to music on my installed system, dont plan on coming home with any fish that day So far im shopping 1K watts, 8 speakers, and likely be a Sony based install. Coffee time, happy Monday.

  33. Happy Monday, guys. Denver metro is actually warming up a bit this week although our central mountains got a fair amount of snow. Good combination ... we stay warmer and the ski resorts/tourism do well. Don't think I'll shuffle off to Buffalo any time soon. Not much to report ... getting ready for Thanksgiving mob, Broncos won and life is good. Check back later.

  38. I don't have much (don't let the HT fool you ) ...but I'm going to pitch in tomorrow! I'm in for helping people. Gotta add this - I remember selling my entire HT (in '97) to feed my family and help a friend feed his. It's taken 15 years to get back (this time I bought everything used). Every bit helps, and you sound like a proud - hard working man Joe! Hopefully you won't have to go through what I did! Bravo Zulu for hanging tough!!!!

  39. I have a phase linear amp, preamp and tuner. They work very well except you need to giggle the outputs on the amp to get a good connection when setting up. I will sell them all for $250 plus shipping with 100% of the proceeds going to Joe (you can Paypal him directly). They put out a good deal of power. I used them all summer with LS's in my garage and you could hear them 1/2 mile away at 60% volume. Let me know if you are interested. Write if you want pictures.

  42. This would not be a loan so repayment is not necessary. Sometimes you just need to let people help. I went through a hard time during a hurricane, people like to help, it makes them feel good. Allow us to feel good.

  44. Here is what I get when i run the front 3 individually, and the subs individually. Left channel... Center channel... Right channel... Sub 1 Sub 2 When I look at the 2 subs I see (what to me is big) a difference. Can you tell which sub is close to the wall and which one is farther out? Is it EQ-able to get them to be closer in the sweep... Or does it not matter? When I look at 15 Hz I see almost 15db difference... Would one DTS-10 out of phase do this?

  46. Interesting experiment. Sometimes the old half tank thing can lie. I will be waiting to see how it does when the tank is lower. I'd think Acetone would clean the injectors. It might improve atomization of the fuel. It may also raise the octane. If it increases mileage, it should be one of those factors. A common misconception is that higher octane is more combustible or flammable. The reverse is true. Regular gas is more volatile and prone to preignition, which means the explosion is occurring from pressure and heat before the spark plug fires. If you get preignition, you put higher octane in.
