  7. I have been here for 12 years. I remember when the K Horn was the king of the hill, then not because it had to be modified with extreme slope crossovers, which were the greastest thing, until they sounded bad because soemone said the Type A was actually better, then the Jubilee was the must have, unil it was also trashed because it is big and ugly, then the Palladium came along, it was great, but now it isn't all that because it too sounds just OK. Keep up the good work...

Saw the Seminoles get handed their azz back to them in a sling by a Duck. Was watching Alabama and Ohio but, left before half time...so will find out later. Bama was looking strong. Had to eat all the appropriate food, including a nice corn casserole.

  11. Hi & Welcome. My 2 cents is LaScala with Sub (if you have the space) over the Cornwall. Keep it horn loaded & keep the distortion to a minimum. Remember, "if it moves, it distorts" which means the place of the most distortion is in the bottom end. Therefore the lower you go, the more you can benefit from horn loading (at the expense of size)

  12. They're early on ebay, so there in no telling how high they might go. A few good points, to me, about these: Original owner who will not ship, so the price might stay on the buyer's side. They all look to be in great shape, well cared for and it pains the seller who seems to be very forthcoming with the information. The Chorus II have figured Oak, which is something I would rather have. I hope this is a deal for someone local on here or I hope he fetches a high price. Starting prices are what's posted Chorus 2 $495 Chorus 1 $435 Forte $345 They are not Forte II as the ad said. Academy 2 @ 225

  13. Hey guys, I guess most are getting back into the "swing" of things. I will be going into the shop some time today......but I no work there. It has been the slowest December ever for us. Even the used car lot next to me has been slow. They get 15 to 20 cars out a month..... I think they got 12 out in December......not good.......but hey that's the auto buisness. So today I will be cleaning up the shop, might do some work on my own junk.......but as of now........I'm drinking coffee and checking out my Klipsch boyz.....lol lol... Check in later :-)

  14. overrated IMO. The 7007 for 699$ is a great deal. Spending two or three times on a pre/pro and amp than you did on your speakers isn't the route to go IN MY OPINION of course.

  17. I survived the two bathroom deep cleaning yesterday with lungs in tact. Lovely wife came home from work and thanked me over and over. She said in front of my mother, "I have never had any man clean a house for me like that before." (To be fair to me, we have only been married for 17 years). I responded, "Well, I have never been a kept man before with the woman as the primary breadwinner nor have I ever been somebody's trophy husband before." I hope I have not set a precedent, unless it is to only clean the bathrooms once every 17 years!

  18. Well i want to jump in on this subject for just another opinion. I have heard the P39s in two very dramatically different setups. The first time i heard them was on a poorly setup system in Tampa florida when i sold my 4 THX ultra two subwoofers to someone who had the P-39s setup with a Yamaha AVR. they didn't sound nearly as impressive as i would have thought for the price tag they carry. I listened to them with another good friend on the forum who also agreed. That being said i took the opportunity when i purchased my Lascars to listen to them from a forum member who had them setup properly with very expensive Macintosh gear. My thoughts are that they sounded about 80% better than my previous listening environment. The Palladiums have their place and outshine most of all the speakers i have heard across the board from different companies in that price range, but that being said they in my opinion only are not Klipsch's crown jewel. They are by far the most beautiful speaker they make and a lot of time and engineering went into these for sure and if they were for the right price/deal yeah they are worth picking up but i feel for certain environment and purposes different speakers are made by our beloved company for different reasons. The Cinema speakers of course probably have some of the largest and most effortless powerful big sound that represent movie soundtracks and music very accurately. Why shouldn't they they are enormous speakers that are used behind gigantic screens in commercial cinemas that are out of sight from viewers. They are not aesthetically pleasing and are meant to bring beautiful accurate sound from behind screens. Even the THX ultra 2 system that i use in my private cinema are nothing to look at but Black boxes which i also hide behind my theater screen. The heritage line which i feel mixes some of that huge sound from the cinema line with some nice aesthetics are some of my favorite sounding speakers Klipsch offers but also are very large and hard to place in an every day environment if you own say Khorns, lascalas, or anything of that sort. I think your interest and purchase of the P39s was a good one. They are not within reach of some members and will bring very nice sound both for movies and music to your home theater and be probably the best looking speakers you will own from Klipsch. If you were building a theater that had a enormous wall to hide commercial speakers behind sure then you could try other options. The Jubs are something i would love love love to listen to for a very long demo and have my mind blown for a few hours but i'll admit i wouldn't plan to purchase those speakers and bring them into my home because of their size and appearance. None of what I'm saying is meant to be offensive in any way just another honest opinion on what i have heard. For movie theater like sound over even the heritage line i still prefer the THX ultra 2 KL-650s behind my screen paired with my anthem amps and the only upgrade for that type of sound i could think of after hearing so many different klipsch speakers would be the pro line if there were an enormous room with a false wall for them to hide behind. For music it would still be the Heritage line with their large cabinets and silky smooth highs/accurate mids. I think you made a good decision on your P39s and to the OP for $1200 i would pick up that center in a heart beat and if i didn't like it sell it in your situation. I don't think Scrappy meant anything bad he is just giving you an honest opinion that yes i admit has truth to it because some of the other speakers from Klipsch sound better than their Palladium line. He is someone who's opinion i value and i consult with when making purchases etc and although sometimes he can be direct with what he tells you he is telling you from his honest two ears. We all on here for the most part consult with each other for good reason.

  19. I've been ripping with EAC for well over a decade and don't even look at another. Outstanding program that can rip CDs that look like they've been sandblasted if you let it hammer away long enough. Of course, no data, no deal, but in the damage isn't catastrophic it's amazing how well EAC can piece it together. When I had little ones I had CDs that went all night before either completing or pulling the plug on them. Dave

  23. Hi Mike, and welcome to the Forum!! Between the two of your choices, I definitely agree with your thoughts on LaScala IIs, but...... If you have the room. and can afford new LaScala II's, have you considered Klipsch Jubilees? The Jubilees clearly sound better, and a forum member hear was offering up his 4 LaScala IIs at a substancial loss as he wants to upgrade to the Jubilees for the improvement in sound. Jubilees can be bought new for the same money as LaScala IIs and if you buy new, you can upgrade them to have a veneer beuty panel of wood on the front. There is a list kept here of the Jubilee owners and an audition of them could probably be set up for you if you are willing to make the trip. The above poster Coytee has both LaScalas and Jubilees, but he lives in Tenn. I am sure Coytee would be more than happy to tell you about Jubilees and help you out in meeting an owner closer to you. 35. I'm not going to claim to be as good of a story teller as thebes...because, hey...who is? I'm an academic writer...that means I add little numbers next to ideas and hope someone pays attention to where the ideas come from (most of the time). This evening, I stumbled upon Alex's post over transparency. But honestly, I read that thread - and I think to myself "hell, I might actually love the company that much too." Anyway, I love you guys, my wallet hates all of you, and I'm pretty sure the audio-craving is a contagious one now ever since joining here. When I joined here, I had a pair of RF-3 II's and a Gen II Quintet system...now, all but 2 speakers and 3 subwoofers are Klipsch born-and-raised. Those 2 speakers by the way are 1998 Jamo Cornet 175's (oh Chad!), they can hold their own without too much worry. At any rate - there's a certain fuzzy feeling and a special place I have for my RF-3's - and that's mainly got to do with how I received them. Growing up, I was not a child who did the toy thing. I think my idea of toys was limited to model airplanes - otherwise...it was big-boy toys. TV's, VCR's, Amplifiers, Tuners, and Speakers. I'm a product of two band directors - two symphony chair players - a song writer, and a music producer. Members of my family have played for Manheim Steamroller, Alabama, and Guns N Roses at various gigs around the Midwest. Those same family members have also been involved in musical performances in theater as well. I was raised on a trombone, played with cellos, blasted out with the trumpet. I toyed around with the piano, and banged on drums and always had a guitar within reach (unless it was my grandma's, then it was a ukulele). I live in a world of perpetual music - melody, beat, and rhythm - the same one I was raised in. When I was 6...my dad bought be a GE boombox. Yeah! Detachable speakers too! I was totally a boss then (I look at some of you with your kids and RF-7's...trust me, I'm so jelly). I kept that thing until I melted the faceplate off it next to a bonfire on one 4th of July. Before I did that though, I bought an Aiwa NSX-AJ20 Shelf Unit...which survived all the way from January of 2000 (I bought it with birthday money) to November of this year. It was with that system that my brother and I would have "Stereo Wars"...where we'd try to overshoot volume against each other. Of course, he had a pair of MTX floorstanders and a Yamaha V390...I had an Aiwa...lol. 2002 - I had a Kenwood HTB system...with my first subwoofer, and first surround speakers. VR-414...couldn't shake the floors too much with it, but we tried. In early '02...I acquired some JBL Northridge speakers - the models of which I can't remember...those were my first floorstanders...they sadly did not survive the move from the old house to this one (they perished in 2007). The Kenwood sub lasted until late last year somehow. Anyway...it was 2002 and my school experience was not doing well. Straight F's in fact! 7th grader with no ambition for the course materials...and was made fun of by just about every student in the school. I missed so many days of school that it wasn't even funny. I still loved talking audio, and had since made friends with a manager at one of the local electronics stores. One day that same manager (Ian) had called my mom, and we both went over to talk to him. He handed me the 2002 catalogue of Klipsch speakers and pointed at a pair of RF-3 II's, and said that if I could stick out the year at school and not miss a day...and at least pass...they'd work out getting me a pair. I had no idea at the time he was literally going to do half-off + a free speaker with that deal for me and my mom...I was 12...and they were beautiful to me. I made it through that year (that was my last year I attended traditional school...I dropped out in 8th grade, got my GED in '07 and went right into a Tier-1 Private College in '12) and I got my first pair of speakers...the very same ones that are in my bedroom, and the same ones that I spent all of these last 4 months finally completing (with the RC-3 II, RS-3 II's, and now the RB-3's). It is with that accomplishment, that I feel like I finished what I started on this system, and I never foresee myself parting with them. They're not the 7's, not even the 5's...they're older and smaller - but they damn well look better than just about any of the other RF-3 II's out there still. I babied these speakers every day...and still do. So for me...these specific towers are more than just a signature of great sound that my mother and a good friend got me going on. They're also a symbol to me that I survived a teenage hell, and am still going strong. Funny what happens when you realize that you're bleeding copper. 12 years after the first Klipsch speaker ended up in my house, the whole house finally turned. What will the next 12 bring me?

  40. Everyone, please bow your heads for a moment of silent prayer for me. I am going in to clean both bathrooms, sinks, and toilets. I have not done that since I was young kid in the army. The lovely wife is at work and I am here at home. So I think I will just get my pressure washer out and see what happens! It will do 3200 psi. I just have to figure out which nozzle would be appropriate. ;-)

  41. My audio ambitions were to own MTX speakers like my brother up until I was about 10. Never crossed my mind that there might be something behind the fact they were 12" woofers, but even I could lift the boxes. lol I'd say right now, my hopes are to get a pair of La Scalla II's or Epic CF-4's after graduation. I was going to be a meteorologist. Of course the older I am now, I realize I wouldn't be able to take all the flack. Those guys get seriously ripped on during the winter. Totally brutal! I always wanted to be a gynecologist but alas it never happened. Too much school. I still dabble as an amateur from time to time however.
