  1. For you foodies out there, this is how I start my day just about every day. I have my weekend coffee mugs, my McIntosh, and Klipsch mugs. Today you can see the McIntosh.

  2. Just took this of our birdie 'GB' and how he would go very nicely with Chuck's new paint color ;0))) Noticed that if you zoom in on his eye, you can see the winter scene on the deck.... Next snow storm later today, which is just beginning now! Ok, time to get going on this breakfast... Coffee going down nicely so far in new mugs...

  3. Morning Gang Nice flyin day yesterday, today it is supposed to hit 74+. The lawn is green again and needs mowed, Skeeters are a Breedin. Now as far a the Marine project, got up early, drank a Pot of the Dickinsons Blend/Duggans enhanced, all by my self, to say jittery is an understatement, thank god the wife is making breakfast. On the Bench @ 3am and just tested the "Brains" of the panic button, 90% done. A during/After shot, from now on im using a bigger box.

  4. Morning guys. Ready for a second cup. Putting off walking Jake though I don't expect it to warm up much in the next hour. Heading to Myrtle Beach later to take LF's niece to lunch and then spend the night with my sister and brother-in-law who are on a layover on the way to Florida. One of the lottery winners, a 26 year old woman with four children, lives 30 minutes away. Lump sum payout or $127,000,000. Enjoying the dac. Must order some tubes for the horn monos. Oh....I have a new cable for the dac. Enjoy your weekend! Gary....what do you think of the room color on page 318? Cheers Gents

  6. Thanks for the tip Duder..... I rebuilt my MK III's from parts ordered at Dynakits (Kevin)... Pezz suggested D. Doctor... I LOVE the character of the PAS 2 just the way it is. Joe was kind enough to NOT sell me his phono stage OR line amp because it would alter the sound in refined ways that would change what I enjoy now. However, I agreed that the power supply is a weak point and will only be better for the tubes etc. when the supply is more robust.. So, that is what is happening now... Just finished re-installing the original volume control and changed out some wiring that had burn marks on it from the factory tech back in '65 Here is the beginning....

  9. With all of the doom and gloom discussions we have had on here lately, I think it's time for something uplifting. This was sent to me this morning. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/embed/ovj5dzMxzmc?autoplay=1 Maynard

  10. Thanks Gary. I went bold with the color and it didn't hurt a bit. Going to start the large foyer that leads to the upstairs and will use a golden kiwi in about a week. The white, latex, semi gloss really makes the color pop and I will use that in the foyer as well. The kitchen painted in 2010 was my first adventure into color. I used a butterscotch on the walls. That will leave just two rooms to go....the great room and my music room. May have to wait on those for a while. Looking forward to photos of your kitchen!

  11. Budgie pre/SUT arrived from Schu today boosting the signal from the Denon 103D as I message. Since I have moved the big rig to finished downstairs I have been able to replicate my system from those 35 years. Yeah in '77/'78 bought factory fresh walnut stained LaScallas played over a Denon DP790 table, Denon 103D and Ortofon MC20 carts. LS had to go for who knows why but the Denons travelled with me in their OE boxes. So did the plastic lined album collection. So in the past month bought '78 LS, five days later '81 Fastlane KHorns w/2-piece ALK's and tonight, well tonight has indeed allowed me a fantastic return to some great memories. This is freaky cool --

  12. I am NOT getting involved with you guys!!! If I were, I'd be tempted to reply with something like "hi, I'm a flipper of audio gear, and I'd like to buy your turntable for $50. If you'll go ahead and send me the item, I'll send you a check only after it gets here. You pay shipping."

  15. Did you by chance check out tubes4hifi.com they specialize in dynaco mods. I built a pre amp kit designed for the PAS3. Will say it's a wonderful pre, plus Roy is great to work with. They have all sorts of updates and mods. At reasonable prices to boot.

  16. Hey Duder, the unit came from Joe C. over at Dynaco Doctor.... His boards are beautiful, but I am not afraid to say that the fit and finish of these units is not up to my standards and I let him know about it..... The replacement volume control is TINY and the threaded barrel is undersized and floats around in the original chasis hole... The original worked very nicely, so that is getting re-installed again.. $18 out the window right there ! NINE connections on that stereo pot !! So that will take a bit of time to restore. I got all the instructions out and my tools at the ready for the pwr sply transplant. Lots of stuff being eliminated in the process... Ok, Pandora plays on the Wave System via iPad...... Bill Evans radio..... ;0)

  17. Sounds great Chuck! I know you will share when ready.... Meanwhile, since I have been handy at dropping and smashing coffee mugs recently, I picked these up at a local shop on the way home.... These things are BIG! Freshly poured and the new bag my dad gave us is to the left and the brew this morning (0: These came with a nice tag on the handle with a little history as to where these are made.. Enjoy.... ;0)

  18. Good Saturday morning coffee lovers (0: Chuck, that is a nice color, and it looks like the framed artwork around the room had an influence (0; Tropics? Looks great with the trim color too ... Any other rooms ready for change?? Our kitchen is under a transformation on the cheap, new lighting and VERY bold color.......coming soon! Ok, getting my coffee photo ready shortly.... .....gw

  19. Saved this from almost going into a new home owner's dumpster. Storing it in my garage until Spring. Will hold a lot of LP's in the bottom. May or may not use the deep TV section. May modify the depth of that section or just use the three bookshelf sections. Only cost about 4 hours.

  20. Very nice! It's funny how we will encourage people to NOT sell their equipment here. I know that these are big and might be difficult to find a place in your or another family member's home. They can also be heavy to move around. Give some serious thought about keeping and USING these if there is any way you can! Money can not replace these. If my father left something like this for me I would be ecstatic to be able to remember him that way every time I listen to music in the house! So sorry for your loss!

  21. Hello all I am remodeling our garage loft and am converting it to a media room. While I love the clean aesthetics of in-wall speakers I have opted to spare that expense and go with conventional external speakers that might offer more presence and mobility. I am a little new to Klipsch products but am a big fan of middle to high end audio. I have been lurking here a while and on AVS forums for several years and have a few questions I would like to field to you regarding budget choices for front, center, and rears. The application would mostly be for weekend movie nights. So far, the plan is this: 17'L x 21'W x 8' vaulted ceiling Walls are finished with typical insulation Denon AVR4800 or AVR5800 125 and 175 watts repectively Klipsch front, center and rear speakers models TBD Carver/Sunfire True Subwoofer Sharp Aquos 70" LED/LCD Dalite Senor Electro high gain screen Optoma HD 21 projector I would like to stay under $1500 and am not opposed to preowned equipment. I read an earlier recommendation for a combo of a pair of RF-62 II's, an RC-62 II center, and a pair of RS-42 II's or RS-52 II's for the rear. What would this setup cost me if I shopped hard on the used market? I have also read raving comments on the RB-75 bookshelf units? Towers are great but was wondering if the same sound quality can be acheived with bookshelf speakers half the height on stands? Appreciate any advice and direction you can offer.

  22. I'd like some opinions on how this turned out. I'm kind of on the fence leaning towards I like it. The name plate follicles are not bent or anything but are not great cosmetically. I decided to make grills that cover the entire motor board. Also, I went with a tan/gray grill cloth.

  35. Welcome Mike, great first post! You already have a well thought out plan and a budget, so I think there are some here who can help you refine what models will give you the best bang for the buck. My question is about the $1500 budget. Is the $1500 for 5.0 speakers only, or does that include the AVR and other components you listed?

  36. With such quick turnaround during a time when thousands(maybe 10's of thousands) have been sent in for repairs, you know Onkyo is using some(if not all) non corporate repair facilities to expedite these numerous repairs. I am sure QC'ing is not at the top of the priority list where just get it done is. It is great Onkyo has taken full responsibility in these matters but quality control MUST be just as important as quantity of quick repairs. Bill
