  6. I think it would be fun going forward for all sports to rotate the kind of ball they play with. I can see Lebron dribbling a bowling ball now. Tiger teeing off on a hockey puck. Brady passing a basketball. Taking LF to outdoor jazz concert at the Bellamy Mansion tonight. Weather should be great. Annuity deposit finally posted.....5 days late. Jerk wads Jake slept out last night. Prefers digging in the dirt behind the boxwoods to a soft bed in AC....go figure. Cheers Ladies and Gents

  8. Mark, have you thought about a Toaster BOT?? It could be engineered to do things no one expects and that no toaster has ever done. Happy Thursday all.

  11. We had a Newfoundland (Schultz) that we brought to a 4'th of July fireworks display. I had him on a leash and was sitting on a lawn chair waiting for the display to start. He had walked around the back of the chair and was laying down by my side. All was great until they shot the first rocket up.. It was just a loud explosion to let everyone know that the show was about to begin. He bolted and as he did, the chair I was in did a 360 due to the leash being wrapped around the back. The chair flew and he dragged me about 10 yards on my stomach much to everyone's amusement. I didn't really get too hurt other than a good sized bruise where the leash pinched my arm against the lawn chair.

  12. BTW...I've found something that answers that mystery. Put your classical tracks into Audacity and bring up a spectrum plot. You'll see why the strings sound so poor in almost all classical recordings. The good thing is that you can actually correct most of that stridency put in by the MEs so that the tracks sound natural again--and it's pretty straightforward to accomplish. We're basically talking ALL two channel recordings of orchestras. I believe that this comes very close to answering your question. I believe that it's not so much about why horns (the musical instruments) sound good on horns (the loudspeakers) so much as it's why horns sound so poor on direct radiating drivers. Chris

  13. To my ears, jazz, particularly saxophones sound the best on my various systems. Classical massed strings the most strident.

  14. I have never heard either of them, but I like the simplicity and quality of the Parasound. Sometimes these complicated AVR's can take away enjoyment because it seems you are always fiddling with them. The Parasound is like the olden days where you had a bass and a treble knob. Nice and simple. Just sit back and enjoy without wondering if the settings in the LFE are correct or the mains should be set to small, etc etc etc etc etc etc....

  15. Just don't do this, we will just call it the xwife robot. http://www.cnet.com/news/dawn-of-the-worlds-angriest-robot/ Angry Robots are old news these days, mine WILL be different, i will take well known Bots and engineer them to do things no one expects, now that, is brain food for the enginer, and entertaining when complete.

  16. A million for the Pats is chump change. Like all pro teams, they want to be right on the fine edge of gamesmanship vs flagrant cheating. And when they can get away with the occasional cheat, Belichek and company have little problem with winking. This is the second time they have been caught out on the wrong side of the fine edge in the playoffs. This one is a very small cheat, and one they did not need to do to win, but they did it because their team culture is to grab whatever edge they can, so they did.It is a shame, because they had a superior team, and they did not need to act like cheating chumps. Then they deny, then they cover up, and now they lawyer up. Papa's got a brand new bag(of footballs)

  20. The KV-3 is not the timbre' matched center for the KG 5.2's, the KG 2.2V is. That is the one that you should seek. The RC-52II will stick out like a sore thumb when the movie or audio soundtrack pans across the front stage. You will even tell the timbre' difference when running pink noise through it. You should get three KG 2.2's two for the rear to replace the synergy series KSB 2.1, and one for the center. They are cheap enough on the used market. Your ears will thank you.

  21. These guys also make interesting horns, which I think have been shown here before. The tube amp uses 6L6 tubes in single ended mode, for abut 8wpc. http://www.specimenproducts.com/single-ended-octoblock-tube-amplifier/ The large horns use an Eminence Beta 12CX and APT50. They are also $36k a pair. I'm sure the cost is in all the woodworking... http://www.specimenproducts.com/xl-horn-speakers/ Bruce

  28. Crites sells upgrades for your speakers so before I went to Reference, I would consider doing that. The KG are still great bang for the buck speakers. IMO, the most under-appreciated Klipsch speaker there is. I agree with all the above that KG-2.2 or 2.5 as a center. I use a KG2.5 between two 4.2's for my most used HT.

  29. One would be better off to order new Cornscalas from Bob for a little more than to purchase the advertised used ones, or so it would seem. Very inflated prices for used stuff.

  32. I've always really liked Blow by Blow. My college roommate had the CBS Master Sound half speed mastered LP and it was in the regular rotation of the LPs that we listened to. That was 1981-1982 (unfortunately a pipe broke in the duplex we rented which destroyed 150 of his LPs that were stored on the floor; my LPs - only about 50 at the time - were off of the floor and were OK). Anyways.., I still listen to my 35-year-old "run of the mill" Blow by Blow LP when I'm in the right mood. One of these days I think I'll buy the SACD version and give it a try. The Ronnie Scott video is worth buying IMO (I bought a copy after hearing/seeing it at a Klipsch Forum locals meet up at Chris A's place several years ago).

  33. This is the place to go for bikes or sport cars, went last summer to take some pics and watch bikes and cars, for a casual ride don't go on the weekend, the crazies are flying through there, during the week is safer. 318 curves in 11 miles http://tailofthedragon.com/ The Dragon, yep ridden there a couple times from KC. Many, many great riding roads in the area but the Dragon gets all the talk. A great ride on any bike for sure but not for the feint of heart. You can get over your head Real quick and with all the tight corners not many places for a second chance. One must be very cautious on a big, heavy, cumbersome bike like the HD.

  35. Yeah steer clear of reference series. Always want to try and match front three. Otherwise if your looking into reference Id seriously consider changing the front three together.

  39. Hey, everyone. This was today's path. Just stopped in South Fork, CO and had dinner at Ramon's Mexican Restaurant. It was pretty good. The most amazing part was actually the soup. With fajitas, you get rice and beans and your choice of a soup or salad. The waiter said the soup was Meatball and Vegetables. I decided, "What the heck..." That soup was chunky and full. It was delicious! It was a sizable bowl for a side order. I could have had two of those and skipped the fajitas, rice and beans. We are are staying the night here. Unfortunately, we can't make Silverton. We went there last year. That is a great drive down to Durango from Ouray. I have done it 3 times, now. This time, it just doesn't fit the itinerary because we are trying to see as much new stuff as we can. We are expecting to be back home, not this Thursday (obviously), but next Thursday. It looks like Colorado must have had a fair amount of snow very recently. We've seen a lot of pretty scenery so far. I'll leave you with today's highlight, taken at Great Sand Dunes National Monument. Here are the people ahead of us, trekking across the shallow, cold stream barefoot to get to the dunes on the other side: Here are my travel companions after we took off our shoes and walked across. It was really cool to contrast the desert-like dunes right in front of the snow-capped mountains, Tomorrow, we head along the path which takes us from South Fork, CO to Monticello, UT.

  40. Except for the depth of and breadth of sonic information from vinyl that even my 34 year old nephew can hear yes vinyl has no charm. Yes tubes color the sound. everything colors the sound and its all slightly different. If you like what you have be happy with it.

  41. He never made it big in the mainstream because he did not go with the rock and roll flow. That and apparently he was a real bear to work with. He kind of reminds me personality wise of Steve Howe. Steve just wants to play, to do his thing, and that's about it.

  45. Inspection station was actually final assembly...the person who installed the drivers/horns/crossover networks and the back panel (when there was STILL a back panel)...was the inspector signatory on the labels. Whenever orders had to go out but there was a backlog in getting the final assembly and testing and packing done, people were shifted to where there was a need...normally final assembly or packing and stacking. I am pretty good at both since I spent SOME time at least once a year doing one, the other or both...as did most of the builders and sanders and some of the office personnel, when necessary.

  47. You might want to give prospective buyers some help on how to use these. For instance, they require a 2 inch throated driver (eg, JBL 2445 or 2446, or TAD 402 or EV DH1A). They are constant dispersion horns (on-axis and off-axis response is comparable). They load down to about 500 Hz and control directivity down to about 500 Hz and provide great efficiency. When I sold my set, I found there are buyers for these but you might need to be patient. Good luck. -Tom
