Oh.... sorry guys! My apologies! I had a rough day at work and didn't really read into the replies. I glanced over it and took it the wrong way. Again, my apologies![emoji16] Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk6 points

No worries. Honestly, I've never ran the LS's with just the Marantz. The Marantz replaced an Onkyo HT-RC270 which was powering the LS's and then the amp was added. I can tell you that when I was ab'ing the Onkyo and the Emotiva, the Emo gave the LS's a warmer sound which I loved. The Emo will give you tons of headroom given the high sensitivity of Klipsch. As of now, all I can tell you is that I have tons of headroom. The sound stage is wide, deep and huge. If you want, I can do a comparison with and without the Emo this weekend to give you an idea. Sorry I can't be of more help. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk4 points

The $350 doesn't sound like a crazy price but I'd want that stump cut to ground level so you can mow. I live in West Virginia where there are tons of people with a pickup truck, a buddy and a chain saw so getting trees cut up is cheap. I personally think most home owners should have a chain saw just for the trimming of small trees around the house. I have a Husqvarna 440 with a 16" bar which is a decent saw for light work. A 14" bar is less expensive and will do 95% of the work the large ones do. You might consider a $200 saw and $50 worth of ear protection, gas can, two-stroke oil and chain oil. It's fun and you can impress your wife and neighbors with your manly outdoor skills. http://www.homedepot.com/p/ECHO-14-in-30-5cc-Gas-Chainsaw-CS-310-14/1006754573 points

I was merely expressing that it hurts to see good gear go at prices like that. And half because you're no where near me. Nothing harsh about it. Seems like everyone is uptight around here anymore. GLWS anyway, OP...3 points

28 pounds of butt, rubbed and ready for the smoker tomorrow morning. After this photo, coated all with my wife's awesome crabapple butter, which, after 12 hours in the smoker, turns into the most incredible "bark" you've ever tasted. Annual neighborhood party on Saturday. Bringing out the garage La Scala's. More photos to follow. @CECAA850 @oldtimer3 points

I am in the market to try out a tube CD player. I realize these are pretty scarce and there is not a whole lot of variety to choose from. I am interested in name brand items that are in very good to mint condition. If you have one and are contemplating selling it, please let me know. Thank you for your time. Phil2 points

The tree is gone. The cleanup is complete. The work done was excellent and worth every penny. The only severed limbs had sap running through them. Thanks for your collective wisdom.2 points

Wow...great weather around here. Currently 70, high of 72. High of 80 for the next 10 days, and the state fair started2 points

It's not a problem at all. In fact, now you've got me a little curious as well. I'll do it this Sunday and let you know my take on it. Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk2 points

You have been plenty of help, thanks. Don't go to any extra bother for me, but I have to admit being curious. The reason why is the Marantz already puts out more SPL than my ears can take, and by the Eco power meter even at high listening levels with power saving OFF I am still not tapping even 50% of the power available. I am all about dynamic headroom, but without actually A/B'ing stock and external amp it's hard to imagine what the difference would be.2 points

I promised myself I'd wait until the Frankensmurfs are delivered before investing further in @ClaudeJ1's "Super Heresy" speakers, but then I went to PE site to check out Eminence Delta Pro 12A. Before I knew it, the check out became a checkout. When I saw an EDP12A on clearance, I couldn't get ahold of my sponsor and pulled the trigger. Now I need to order some 3/4 Baltic birch to make cabinets. Does anyone have a cut sheet for Heresy cabinets? Will I need more than one 4x8 sheet? FedEx tracking indicates shipped yesterday to arrive by Tuesday 8/8.2 points

No worries....no offense taken. Sorry to hear you had a rough day.2 points

No msg in this one. Carl turned me on to the tex-joy brand, and it is really good. Probably 50 people or more will show up, but there will be so much other food, salads appetizers desserts etc., it's always more than enough…2 points

Sorry if my comment came across as trash threading, as it certainly was not my intent. I feel $1000 is a good deal for LaScalas and was merely encouraging anyone that is local they should consider these. Regardless, best wishes with your sale. I added a smile and a winky face to my original post to clarify the emotion behind my comment.2 points

Not sure what the negative part of the thread is OP? I am thinking $1000 for LaScalas is a good deal and they are going to bring interest. What was wrong with that?2 points

Listening to these for like 10 minutes. I've had Rp-280's and Heresy's. These are a grand slam. Turned the sub off. My addiction is over. These are the best sounding speakers I've ever heard. Done buying. And I still have a Parasound coming.... On to retirement.2 points

Hey guys just an update. I set the 440c up, but it doesn't appear to have any sound coming from it when in the "direct" setting. Once i change to the "multi st." Setting then i can definitely hear it from the center. Am I doing something wrong?1 point

A false wall might be your best option, or you might have to take Ole Dollar's suggestion with in wall speakers.1 point

Adding to what you see the sn looks like it is missing the first 3 digits, xxx14115. 1983 to 1989 is YY WW #### 1990 to 1997 should be DOY Y2Y1 ####. The second format does not seem to fit, assuming I am right about missing 3 digits. If Lee is sure it is circa '89 to '96 then 1989 would be the most likely guess without knowing the first three digits.1 point

You could if you had an electric smoker, maybe a pellet fed smoker.....but us REAL BBQ cooks use pure lump charcoal, and they take some tinkering with over the course of 10-12 hours, which in reality isn't that big a deal. Yes, should be a beautiful day tomorrow for a block party.....1 point

Haha.....blast from the past, I haven't heard that address in 45 years....thanks1 point

using the 16 ohm tap would be my go to option and it should sound the best also. You are then loading the entire secondary of the output transformer which is the way it should be done.1 point

See this post from Feb 2014 for a Bob Katz video on "Loudness: War and Peace" originally posted on YouTube in Nov. 2011: The video is also found here: It's one of the key videos that I've found on the subject. It's interesting that it shows the progression in thinking of the cultural aspects of recording and mastering as it transitioned from analog to digital, and the problems of over-saturation used for decades in analog tape recording. Very informative insights into the cultural issues that persist even today: the notion that mixes have to be "loud", even though both radio and mp3 players now use auto-loudness compensation per track.1 point

That article got a lot of response from a technical perspective in professional journals. The gist of the article is that there is no precise or standard definition of DR. Bob Katz collected a number articles in his article in his thoughts on the loudness wars, a couple are from AES presentations. https://www.digido.com/portfolio-item/loudness-war-peace-is-almost-here/ and he links to his excellent video on it.1 point

Mike Bentz: I again recommend setting up another thread on these specific effects...which you have in the past have been reticent to do for reasons unknown. Then you can go in the direction that the OP (that would be you) wishes to go, instead of strong emotion-tinged responses filled with obvious angst over each response from the audience to "turn the tide in a different direction"...or perhaps other less friendly motives. I understand that you have near-and-dear thoughts on this subject--as evidenced by these type of responses. I'd recommend channeling that energy into productive dialog and/or exposition instead. Everyone will benefit--including you. And I certainly won't get in your way... Chris1 point

Do you have a chainsaw, cut it at the base and bring the tree down in less than 20 min. Then cut the branches to size for easy pickup and removal. Hire him if you don't want the fuss of doing it yourself.1 point

You've never seen Texjoy? Next time I send some peppers I'll throw a bottle in.1 point

Thanks Bill, I've owned several B&W speakers over the years. Unfortunately, the DM bookshelf speakers that I had didn't have a lot of bottom end. The RB-61's have a very good amount of bottom end for a bookshelf speaker. I think they would be perfect for my office. Goal here is to have little to nothing out of pocket. Just gotta be patient (I tend to be good at that).1 point

I will be at an undisclosed location in the Northwest. Matt at Klipsch has arranged an even bigger event for 2024, the Great EKLIPSCH. It will commemorate the 7th Anniversay of the Klipsch Museum of Audio History. There will be a total EKLIPSCH over the Museum in Hope AND he Klipsch HQ in Indy. The duration will be twice as long as the one this year. Travis1 point
