  7. I like to listen to OSTs. From there the step to Classic isn´t a great one (sometimes). "The Planets" is/ was both, Classic and OST: https://www.discogs.com/release/15588236-Gustav-Holst-Berliner-Philharmoniker-Herbert-von-Karajan-The-Planets

  9. Good morning/afternoon. Members of this band are local to me, and I came VERY close to joining them some years back as their keyboardist for the live shows ! (they use tracks).

  11. Yes sir, that one's very interesting. Mine is 50-year-old version on vinyl. Too bad I didn't listen to it in the various states I was in back then it could have been more interesting ha ha ha!

  14. ....and that tonearm is ON FIRE Paul !! Hello everyone, been visiting my folks nearly 900 miles from my home, an annual 'vacation', and hit their 'to do' list during my stay. So, for the first time in a couple of weeks, back in the Longfellow Music Hall on this LAZY Labour Day weekend to spin a bit of vinyl before a deck dinner party here for my neighbors later this evening. A sunny and HOT afternoon, but the Hall is always atmospheric no matter the time of day. Here then, from the movie soundtrack on 180 GOLD METALIC vinyl. Tubes and Horns for this one. Rear cover....

  16. So today, I came home from work early as I'm not feeling well, and my apprentice is not either. I just spoke to him by phone and he says he has tested negative for Covid, but still feels bad. I'm old and broken down, so feeling bad is not unusual for me, but he's young and strong, and for him to be feeling that rough concerns me a bit. If you are a praying person, please send up some words for Ryan's health. That said, I thought I'd take a minute to sum up this thread for any interested parties by saying that last night I made the decision to spend a fair amount of money ordering a number of parts that will be going into my Cornwalls in an attempt to make them sound more like what I want. I won't detail what I'm planning here, as such things are understandably frowned upon by the good folks who host this forum, but I will be discussing the work on my YouTube channel, the link to which can be found on my profile page. It will be a couple of weeks before work begins, as it will take a while for all the parts to arrive from the various vendors. When it's all said and done, assuming I'm happy with the outcome, I will have a lot of original Klipsch parts for sale, and I will post them here before putting them on eBay, and that way perhaps someone can repair/restore their speakers with original parts. Thanks!

  17. Hello Dave we hadn't hit the '80s at the bottom of the 10:00 hour a while ago. Another cool front for us including the highs in the mid-90s! Yard work jeez it's been a while kind of miss it, need to line some up. Did get the bugs off of the windshield The mirrors and the front of the brick this morning. Right now I'm in the middle of another MOHS procedure looks like only two rounds for today yay!

  19. The timer on the oil pumps for our popcorn machines at the movie theater where I used to work had a row of dip switches to set the time that the pump would run. Typical 8bit octet of switches with the units in seconds. first switch was 0/1 seconds, the next switch was 0/2, 0/4, etc. One morning someone had messed with the switches on one of the timer units and the guy that noticed(who might have been the guy who messed with it in the first place) thought he knew how it worked and he figured we needed about 8 seconds worth of oil so he flipped them all on and pressed the start button. 255 seconds later…

  20. If it’s been working with another monitor then it’s probably fine. Are you setting the monitor to use the VGA input via it’s on screen display and menu buttons? Sometimes even if they are set to auto detect input they won’t switch depending on the display protocol passed through from a docking station.

  21. @grasshopper Well SOMEone thinks he can make a difference. I wondered but it could happen. I couldn't believe Ohio State hired John Cooper in 87 after two years @ ASU. THEN they kept him for 12? Coop had soooo many NASTY habits on the field coaching. Got a shot of him once w/his headset on throwing up his right arm to signify we got a TD and the entire time he was holding his nuts w/his left hand. Another one I got was the same thing. One arm up the left hand buried up his nose. Thought about makin t-shirts and sellin em up in Ann Arbor on game day.

  22. Why do that when you can use what Klipsch uses. Contact Jim at JEM Performance Audio and buy a kit. If you want me to do the work, I’ll do the pair for $215 parts and labor.

  27. Thank you so very much, fine folk. Sorry I was away for several hours yesterday evening and night. I hade done something even more basic than most of you guessed or surmised. I had the main speaker connected to the Height input rather than the Main. In hindsight this makes absolute sense, duh!, but the single pair of (Height) connectors lured me to mis-wire the speaker. Thank you all so much for weighing in - fabulous community for folks like me - obviously in over their heads - have great days. Bruce

  28. Kinda cool this AM.... High 50's ... signifying an end to this year's monsoon. Was a lean year. We didn't get more than 3 inches, if that much. Normally, 6 to 8 inches between July and Oct. I didn't have to cut weeds or mow the grass. The big rain missed us. We got a sniff of what hit CA and NV

  35. Absolutely. I don't always agree with the player, but in this case. He is the best and they (The Chiefs) will NOT win another SB without him, I can tell you that. Has them by the dangles he does, no doubt about it. They are gonna pay him is what's gonna happen. 🤣

  38. The chapel above was huge, with terrible acoustics, but the room underneath for rehearsals and practice was certainly large enough. Maybe 25x35. I probably have the floor plans on my PC and could look it up. However, they let me go for not being busy enough (now I work at a place with way more computers and only three of us to do the work). No sour grapes, it's a different place than it was.

  40. In my next video here if you skip to 4:00 with a pair of earbuds or headsets, I have my Forte's against the wall about 10" and the bass is more audible in a good way in my opinion. Yes, it's a different room with different acoustics, but Upscale has their own dedicated listening room and others can judge for themselves. Their setup sounds nice, but I would have preferred a bit more bottom end.

Reading other's reviews: The people who never read the book gave the series a few stars. The ones who read the book gave the series a one star. ..just sayn'

  45. We have a picture of your tube gear thread so not to discriminate I started this thread. The gear from the 70's just have a look you do not find in modern equipment. I did what I would call a complete restoration of this Sony receiver. Replaced all the electrolytic capacitors except one that checked fine that I did not have in stock. Forgive me but I did not want to combine 2 to make the correct value. Cleaned the pots and aligned. Did some repairs to the beautiful walnut case and it now sits in my bedroom. I had a Sony receiver in the 70's and in my opinion was one of the best looking ones ever made.

  46. Technics SA-800 under the dbx 3bx Series 2. My first piece of stereo was a Technics SA-200. Back then in 1978 Technics had a very large line of receivers, nine in all, each one with a little more power and one or two more switches or knobs until you got to the top of line. The amps sounded fine until you compared it to anything else. I came across the SA-800 by chance in a friend's warehouse and it works fine as a tuner preamp for me.
