  2. Well after the long friday´s session I was busy to wash some records and while washing I spun some easy listening stuff in the background Earl Klugh with " wishful thinking " Ry Cooder´s " Borderline " and " Get Rhythm " finally Lee Ritenour´s " Festival " As an exception, I turned on the TV earlier in the evening around 8.pm and watched a thriller, normally I don't turn on the TV before 11.pm and only once a day.

  4. After running some measurements and checking what parts I had on hand and seeing how they modeled in LTSpice I just put a 1.3uF cap across the tweeter. green=CDX1-1412 wide open. orange=CDX1-1412 with the 1.3uF capacitor. brown=stock K-79. Honestly if I had another K-79 on hand I would probably just use it to replace the busted one I’ve got. But, since I don’t, it’s nice to be able to replace it with something with better power handling that can hang out past 20kHz. Time to go see if there are any lonely dogs at the local brewery and check out the classic rock cover band playing tonight.

  5. I use to wonder the same things especially with my UG Jubs but after I added the KPT-1502-HLS prototype to the system I was amazed at the amount of realism it added to many recordings that you would never expect. For example I love a lot of the older acoustic blues recordings and when the sub was added I was shocked at the increased sense of the acoustical space of the recordings with an increased spaciousness/envelopment with the musicians clearly more defined/realistic within that space. There is also a perception of increased clarity in the rest of the spectrum with an improved overall tonal balance which is especially and easily audible when you turn the sub off and on. After experiencing this sub with my La Scala AL5s and my UG Jubs I really don’t consider it an option but actually an essential part of the systems which brings the systems to another level that IMHO isn’t possible with any electronic improvements someone could add to their system if they already have descent equipment. IMHO Roy’s vented horn loaded subs are the absolute cutting edge designs with shocking clarity that makes someone feel as if you can actually count the frequency cycles being reproduced which I have never experienced with any other sub design types. The clarity/definition is incredible with Roy’s horn/vent sub design. IMHO Subs of these qualities when added to your systems will connect you with the musical performance in such vital ways to realism that until you have experienced it most listeners simply can’t imagine. miketn 🙂

  6. I wanted to share some pictures with those here who enjoy viewing music rooms with great equipment. The pictures were taken during our visit with some dear friends who truly love sharing their music through their Klipsch Collection as well as sharing some of the most enjoyable meals a person could experience. miketn 🙂 This is their Underground Jubilee clones with retro equipment collection that they restore and enjoy in all their systems. Heritage Jubilee in their living room with McIntosh MC30s and a Custom 45 single ended tube amplifiers. Theater Room which can be switched between Home Theater duty as well as 2-channel Music with again his custom built Tube Preamplifier and 300B Amplifiers. Heritage Jubilee and UG Jubilees for surround and center duty with a KPT-1802-HLS sub as well. Pictures just cannot do justice to these Klipschorn AK6 “Teak with Lambs Wool” which serve as a bedroom system again driven with great tube equipment he has restored.

  17. One of my best friends of 54 years with Joe at Normans Rare Guitars. Hal giving Joe's 59 Les Paul a "test run". The Les Paul on left in Joe's hands is about $7,000.00. Hal was asking Joe his opinion before purchasing it. The Les Paul in Hal's hands was Joe's and worth around $350,000.00. Hal said he had never been so nervous holding a guitar before in his life. That is exactly what Hal said. A guitar geek through in through. Bill

  24. They look pretty tired for 2K. I've noticed a lot of people are shooting pretty high when they price speakers lately. I guess the reasoning is that groceries went up around 30% that everything else has as well. I would offer 1K and have fun refinishing them and doing some driver/crossover work.

  25. Recent developments and advancements in the understanding of all things Klipsch have led to the conclusion that the K-77-M should not be used with an AA crossover. It is too hot. WAY too hot. The K-77-M is pictured in this pair of La Scalas. The AA crossover was also designed to be used with the single phase K-55-V. In the speakers pictured here the date code is “W” which would imply the dual phase plug (soldered lug) K-55-V is used. The dual phase plug driver extends higher than the single phase plug driver and is not optimal for the AA crossover as designed. Whether these came stock from Klipsch like this, or they were modified, I don’t know. I do know there were anomalies during driver and crossover changeover years. But as these stand right now, they are not representative of what the Klipsch sound should be, according to recent discussions on here, with all the graphs to prove it. Don’t despair, others in better condition for the same price will be along soon enough. And when they do show up don’t hesitate to ask away on here. Welcome to the forum,

Same as the ad that says "one small malfunction, but it's only a $50 fix"....if it's so small of a fix, why doesn't he fix it? Give him another day or two, and he'll knock another $2500 off.

  32. @JohnJ That's just temporary to appease the other B1G teams. The funny thing about it all blue said they weren't going to press the issue with a fight over a temporary restraining order. They just said they'd honor the 3 game ban since it could hurt recruiting. They no more than said that and the B1G AND the NCAA made statements that there WOULD be more coming and that the suspension in no way meant it was concluded. The word I got last night was that the NCAA is talking about forfeiture of ALL games in the 2022 and 23 seasons. Possibly games from the 2021 season too. Stalions was on staff both of those years. In 2021 he wasn't on staff but it's entirely possible he was proving to UofM that his system could work. Can take that fwiw . I look for Harbs to quit after the season but that's nothing new since he has his eye on the Head Coaching job for the Chicago Bears. With all of the blowback coming he'd have a hard time landing an NFL job again. Ya have to remember he was the head coach for the San Fran 49er's prior to taking the job @ U of M. Additionally, with his brother John coaching the Ravens he could find something somewhere. John has publically stated he didn't see much wrong w/what Jim has done. It'll sort in time.

  34. It should make sense that if you make physical changes to the loudspeaker you will hear changes to the loudspeaker. No surprise there. The problem is that without measurements, you have no idea what is going on. You have nothing to tell you why you are hearing what you are hearing. Something can curve terrible and a person will tell you how great it sounds.

  35. A subwoofer cannot be "airy". Since these are horn loaded, the effective radiating area is the area of the mouth, not the driver. But, also since they are horn loaded, the sound is clean. They don't have that subwoofer sound. They're musical and sound "effortless". We listened to (special) AL-5s with the larger 2 and the pairing was excellent. Having the entire bass range horn loaded stood out as clean, detailed and easier to separate instrument sounds. If you need to go with the Medium because of size, I'd suggest buying 2 to get the max output up to where I'd want it. The Medium will cover all musical notes and most LFE effects. I'm leaning toward a Large, but 2 Mediums will fit in my room easier.

  36. I have no idea, but I will say either the 2 and 3 or 4 size (no names yet) would be enough for about any Heritage speaker unless you normally play at insane levels trying to go deaf but these will help with that also. Very much so, this was one thing I did not really understand, but it was explained with many other things, explained where it could be understood which was great. I usually do not care about the how things work technically as long as they do so I trust people like Roy and others when I have questions, but this weekend taught me many things about why in a way that's easy to understand in the overall picture. I use a very capable sub and was VERY impressed with all of these subs, no BS. One thing I have never noticed before was at one point Roy had the volume so low you could not tell what was even playing as he was talking. But the sub was still loading the room and you could slightly hear the bass but could feel it to the point that If I had known the song I would have known what it was just from the deepest bass notes. I was in the back row but it was the whole room as I was not the only one who noticed it. Made me want to come home and try these test tracts because it was impressive, you normally expect to have a little volume at least to load a room like that. Hearing the new Heritage Jubes was also a shock for me set up in a proper listening environment. I did not expect that much of an improvement from the originals but it is an amazing improvement and have I have heard the originals for many hours. Very impressive and also NO need for a sub, again in the teens, real full range speakers. Both the 4 new subs and the new Jubes were way more than I expected, VERY clean and effortless sounding. I told Roy when these subs get out to customers and people start talking about them after hearing at home it is really going to take off in a hurry. This is NOT your normal direct radiator sub sound in any way, when you hear music with steady mid sounds in the teens and there are no odd sounds just clean smooth reproductions it stands out quickly. IMO OK that's enough, I had not planned on saying anything much with all the people who could explain much better then me but I was impressed to the point where I had to say something. Truly impressed, you will hear much more as people get these at home, people wanted good Heritage subs for a long time and it is now going to happen with ease and style. Good Job Roy impressive

  38. There are (5) Klipsch UG Jubilees total {ie: (3) behind the screen and (2) for rear surround} + the Heritage Jubilee pair for L + R channels in the home theater room. You can see (2) of the UG Jubilee-K402 elevated somewhat above the screen in the picture I posted.

  39. Yes, the XL sub is different from the Jubilee bass bin. While the XL is slightly narrower than the Jubilee bass bin, it is also taller than the Jubilee bass bin. The lower response is due to several things. One is a 14 Hz horn flare rate vs. 18 Hz for the Jubilee. There are also more ports in the vented enclosure that fires into the horn in the sub (in think there are six if I remember correctly vs. three for the Jubilee). Finally, the Jubilee bass bin must be able to have high enough response and correct polars to match up with the K-402 horn at the 340 Hz crossover point. The sub does not have that concern as it will usually cross over to the mains much lower than that.

  40. The evidence points to bad tweeters .See if they’re working , and While you’re at it , check the midrange . It’s not likely a coincidence that you found a couple of replacement tweeters laying around .The owner seems to have been interested in changing out the original tweeters , so it is possible that various other changes have also been made to these speakers . I’d offer to buy them and fix them , nice little project , probably a very simple fix🤓

  41. You can't go specs alone the newest RP series have significantly better / higher quality horns, phase plugs and driver tech. Cabinets bifurcated and heavily braced crossovers are much improved as well. I would expect a much more refined, detailed accurate and smoother, more pleasing sound from the 8000 ii's than the older 82's.
