  4. Hey @dirtmudd I've grown to like side b of that one almost as much as the first side. Starting to feel more like a home in here. The color I picked for the walls in the main part of the house has a gray hue in the early morning light or any light when it's reflecting the off of all the snow we still have on the ground. In the evening light, without the bright reflections, it has a tan hue to it. Heck, I can see a difference with the back wall and the walls on the right towards the pantry in this pic. With the flooring in today, it looks better! The current lot does have a lot of the lighter color in there, but I still like it. Walls will need a second coat to satisfy this former painter.

  8. Funny you just posted this. On Monday I wrote AS to complain. My last order just before Xmas was $150.94usd, plus $30.95 for International Ground to my home just north of Toronto. Last Friday I got an invoice in the mail from FedX for $100.09cnd... Canada HST: $26.65 Clearance Entry Fee: $54.00 Disbursement Fee: $11.00 HST on Disb/Ancillary Service Fee: $8.45 AS did respond the next day and pointed out their new FedEx International Connect Plus shipping option as per your above video. This afternoon I just place a new order and used the new International Connect Plus, which cost me $26.46 for the 3: regular LPs and one UHQR Vinyl Record (Steely Dan / Aja). I will report back after delivery to let everybody know how it worked . Fingers crossed!🤞

  9. Had an old beautiful brick for my first house. Quarter sawn oak, sliding panel doors, built in quarter sawn kitchen cabinets and I loved that house. Built in 1920 by a guy who owned the brickyard in that area of town His superintendant built one exactly like it next door but had one less window. If you could turn back time... Did I ever tell you how I abhor plumbing? That was the start of it all. I'll paint, shovel snow, wash cars, climb telephone poles, rig, jump outta airplanes, do PLF's off a chicken coop roof and just about anything else on the planet EXCEPT plumb! Couple weeks ago the ice maker stopped making ice. Oldest daughter was all over it and replaced the water line on the back of the fridge. Perfect! Today I got a card from the Duckburg water dept hangin on my front door telling me to check for leaks. Yup, I'm on it and made the call only to find out I had a 300$ water bill this month. Normally it's 60$. Checked the crawl space out and yup.the ice maker line had broken down in the basement too. Oldest daughter was here in a flash and made quick work of it. On the upside when I checked in at the Water Dept they said I'd signed up for some water leak insurance. Must of had a weak moment but they said they'd pay the majority of it when I filed a claim. Crazy day in Duckburg. See why I hate plumbing? I'll do anything BUT plumb! Sure glad that stripper pole in the crawl space is made outta brass! She asked and I told her. She was laffin and gonna tell her sister! I told her to go price a 12' lond 3-inch brass stripper pole with all the hardware. 😂😂😂 Called the youngest in Phoenix to wish her a Happy Birthday and yup she was out having dinner w/friends and asked me about my stripper pole after I sang happy birthday to her. Her dinner gaggle was loving me on speaker phone. Lotsa great comments in the background. lol Carry on!

  13. Been playing with headphones as of late trying to keep it in the sub $400 range I have to say all three of these models sound really good but for me the clear winner is the PX-7 S2's. The Sony's have a lot more bass than the other two but they're kind of veiled sounding, not sure it would be that noticeable if not compared to the other two. The Bose were a nice change, more open sounding and seemingly higher resolution with more details compared to the Sony's, very different but they can be a bit bright on certain tracks and the bass is just not there. The PX-7's are kind of a blend of the two with even better clarity and resolution than the Bose with a slightly bigger sound. Bass is maybe halfway between the two? Most songs it is very balanced and although not as much as the Sony's still satisfying. I started out with the Sony 720's and after about 30 hours they seemed to get better- clarity and openness improved either I adapted or they broke in but they went from pretty muddy sounding at first to pretty decent headphones if you can pick them up when they go on sale for $100 I think they're bargain just let them break in a bit. With this experience I'm cycling through all three of the models want to give them a good amount of time before settling on a pair. So far it seems the Sony's are improving a bit with some time on them, haven't noticed any change with the Bose and I just got the PX-7's today but right out of the box I feel they best the other two.

  16. Thank you. Funny thing is, there are two fireplaces in this home across two floors. Spent big $$ having a brand new chimney installed, and NEVER used the fireplaces, basically for looks. Here, my primary heating is with refrigerant. Nat GAS furnace is very expensive to run vs. the 42k BTU of heat pump system which costs less then half in the dead of winter.

I find something VERY endearing about the the Original folded horn Bass Bin over the modern Ported design even though it's less capable. UJ has been tough to wrestle with, and its been trouble to get right... but it's been a cool journey.

  19. Sorry about that @grasshopper Do you have your greens planted and covered with newspaper at night? When and if I can get my stuff I'll see what I can get growing here! My neighbor was up here the other day and she told me there were particularly nice herbs growing in the big pots left here at the house. Told her I'd leave them where the sun hits the most and see if any seedlings come up this spring that would be real nice

  22. Ignatius said “How dare you present such abortions to the public.” ― John Kennedy Toole, A Confederacy of Dunces < more quotes I love that book and need to read it again. This is crossing the line and shouldn't be called klipsch or Klipsch. From the ad: Prototype klipsch concerto, read the add (ad) if it’s posted it’s available well basically 1978 Hersey with a folded horn kinda a small lascalla? Better than old Hersey bigger cabinets with top hats off they really wide sounding. There (they are or they're) heavy, would be awesome man cave speakers. Tweeter is out of 1978 lascalla mid from 78 Hersey and woofer crossovers for forte 1 1985 so lower crossover point more bass with bigger cabinets. Some bucks worth of parts alone if add (ad) is up it’s available other gear in pictures not for sale,,,,,,,,,,

  24. Yeah, today is Thursday and we're essentially still snowed in. I took most of the month of December off (I hit all my work goals in August/Sept). I DID work three days during the last week of December for some specific reasons.... went back Tusday after New Years. Running hard, having a bunch of meetings right out of the gate and have twice the number of meetings as my next colleague (nationwide I might add) Then, door slams shut..... stupid snowmageddon happens. Fortunately the guy filling my Propane came monday DURING the snow but got here early. Now I'm full of Propane, ready. Only issue is, I'm heading to schools this week and don't you know, they cancelled school for the entire week. Not only that, the big roads have been cleared. The side roads are still full of snow.....and I don't live on a side road. I live a level or two UNDER a side road. Snow on our road is still looking to be 8-9 inches deep. Fortunately, I'm now off for the rest of the week......sun is currently out so that will thaw some things and maybe warm up the pavement a little.....because on Monday, not only am I back at it but not going to a local school....Monday I have to drive 2-hours into another (further north) snowmageddon location. I'm So looking forward to spring and HAVE been since maybe last September!!

  26. Interesting thread. I don't know much about these headphones other than a few years ago my wife's employer gifted most employees with a pair of Bose QC35 ll's. She didn't have much interest in them but knew that I would and I've been using them ever since. At the time I had a Samsung Galaxy S8 and it had a 'Tube Amp Pro' option. Really surprised at how good it sounded because I thought it was just a gimmick but I gotta say that it sounded great. Not long after, I got a Samsung Galaxy S21 and the Tube Amp Pro option was gone. A lot of people online were upset about this. Me included. It still sounds ok but it really sucks that they took that option away. I don't take these things too serious but man I love those things for going on long walks or hiking.

  31. I'm selling my 500C. Given it's age it's in great condition. I purchased it 5 years ago intending to have it restored but never got around to it. Now that I've had my 990DB done and my LK72 up next, I'm calling it complete. Everything works as it should and it sounds great driving my Klipschs. The output tubs are Sylvania but all the others are original Fishers. $850 Located in York, PA More photos available upon request.

  32. @Von Hoellert If I were looking for a Cornwall, I wouldn't waste a second and would buy this Cornwall 1 immediately....directly to the Netherlands.... 2 to 3 hours drive from Cologne and catch this CW1 @Flevoman linked. It has often been said here that the CW1 sounds better than the CW3, but I would leave that to those who have already experienced it. If money is a factor, then the CW1 for €1,150 is three times the better buy than the CW3 for €2,500. You might have to replace the capacitors, but that's about it. The photos look like they inspire confidence, it's not for nothing that the seller has a Mcintosh amp from the same period as the CW1. I have already posted it elsewhere in the forum. I use hifishark.com, a hifi metasearch engine that collects updated adverts from everywhere on the planet. You can register for free and get an email every day with new entries. Martplaats from the Netherlands is also scanned, as well as Audiomarkt, Ebay, Kleinanzeigen etc. from Germany. You have to scroll down a bit to skip all the US offers. Here is an example link, you could also search more selective for e.g. Cornwall 3. https://www.hifishark.com/search?q=Klipsch+Cornwall

  33. I always thought having cassettes and CDs in my car was a nuisance and a distraction but... (I came across this on some social media network...) Muhammad Ali had a record player that played 45 rpm records built into his automobile. In the 60s, Norelco "Auto Mignon" only held one 45 rpm record at a time, for 4½ minutes of play, potentially distracting the driver with the need for multiple record changes. Consumer Reports claims the Norelco players were able to keep the needle on the record while driving and that the needle performance was "unaffected by rough roads, car sway, and sharp braking." However, "a steady stylus had its price, wearing down the records from the high pressure required to keep it in place. And the RCA unit's turntable ran fast, speeding up records," according to CR. In addition, there was nowhere to put the vinyl since the Norelco didn't store any records. Car record players soon made way for the eight-track tape deck. In September 1965, the Ford Motor Company introduced factory-installed and dealer-installed eight-track tape players as an option on three of its 1966 models (the sporty Mustang, luxurious Thunderbird, and high-end Lincoln), and RCA Victor introduced 175 Stereo-8 Cartridges from its RCA Victor and RCA Camden labels of recording artists catalogs.

  34. That's funny! I allowed over 100 hours break in on both and in the end it was very close I could have been happy with either but ended up sending the Focals back. The Focals needed a ton of break in but eventually smoothed out nicely I found the PX-8's to be more a bit more detailed and realistic sounding and more comfortable but like I said I thought they are both excellent I'd recommend either.

  35. I want to thank you, and others, for not reacting in an aggressive way to me. After reading your answers, I have googled for 'large speakers in small room' and it seems you can't go wrong with (really) big speakers in small rooms. This was new to me, and counter-intuitive. I stand corrected. Enjoy the music!

I can take them back and I do still have the oppurtunity to get a pair of SS-3s for $350. If you could please reply to this as quickly as possible I would appreciate it. ---------------- I think the ss-3's are what you want due to timbre matching for those speakers. Timbre matching simply means that all of your speakers will have the same tonal qualities which will yeild a better listening enviroment. I just got the RS 35's for my RB35's. I was running some boston surrounds with my set up, but with the RS it all sounded much smoother and to me the dialog was more clear. Hope that helps some. Im sure someone will come along soon with a better explination than that so hold fast.

  40. I am in the process of replacing my surrounds to RS35 and maybe a new RC7 to replace my RC35 and then put the 35 at the back surr. position. As things stand now I am running my old infinity mains which are two way bookshelf set-up for my back surr. and was wondering which is better for back surr., my old infinity mains or the infinity center channel at the back? I have been searching out all this surronud placement stuff half the day and it seems that experimention is the final word. But what do you guys mostly do for surr. back? One speaker or two? My room is 13x22 with a vaulted ceiling running the length of the room. My T.V. goes along the short wall and that would put the surr. back about 12 feet behind me. Also, if I keep the two speakers for surr. back, what would be the correct distance apart on the back wall? Should these speakers point down towards the sweet spot or flush with the wall? I have the bookshelf infinitys on the back wall now but even with 6.1 dvd's It doen't seem to fill the back of the room very much. I did use the spl meter and calibrated all the speakers to 75db and really had to crank up the infinity's to keep up with the RB35's but still don't hear em much back there. Do you guy's recomend using a RC35 for the back surr. and if so will the RC7 sound right with the RB35's? Thanks for the direction!

  42. Hey everybody, My buddy has a sony amp powering his Paradigm&Difinitive speakers. He's ready to replace his amp and he really likes my Denon with Klipsch. I learned here, (new guy) that some amps don't go well with certain speakers, that is to bright, to warm, ect. Could someone help me direct my Bud in the right direction concerning a good amp choice for his set-up. He heard my klipsch set-up and drooled so now he is on the hunt for a new amp. He likes mostly HT. He's got about 600.00 bones to spend give or take. Any suggestions would help greatly. Thankyou in advance.

  43. I was thinking about another set of RB35's, in fact Im thinking more and more about it right now. Yes, Rb 35's it will be. Would the RS 35"s work well with back surround to complete my 7.1 system? I would end up hanging them from the vaulted ceiling directly behind me and pointing down to the sweet spot. Would this work? Thanks yromj

  44. I just calibrated my RB35's,RC35,BostonCR65,InfinitySS2003,Velo, with the DVE disk and I noticed a bit of (as I would call it), crackling in the RF-RB35. This occured while playing back the full bandwidth pink noise but it dosent seem to do it every time I replay the DVE pink noise in that speaker. Could something (a wire) in the speaker be loose? I ran the DVE pink noise about 6 times into that speaker and could detect the crackle twice. My main volume(DENON) was set to -05 FOR THE RF-RB35, and the speakers were then calibrated at 75db for the rest of the system with my new $40.00! rat shack SPL METER(I here there only $15.00 on close out now). It's amazing to see the difference of each speakers spl number compared to the Klipsch. The Infinity's and the Boston's had to be cranked up about 4db higher than the Klipsch. One day I will just replace the surrounds with more Klipsch but for now must make do. By the way, thanks for this forum, I have so far followed the advice of this forum and have heard things in some well known DVD's that I have never heard before. Thanks all!
