  3. The live version. Haha. double necked guitar in D not A minor as the song is written in. The guitar is tuned funky. The other neck is in standard tuning. The other thing is Bonzo is not in 4/4 he is making triplets in a whole different timing that resembles 4/4/ looks more like - triplet for two bars, triplets for two more bars, 4/3 for two bars, with a 4/4 at the close. Its insane, how his timing is counted x,x,Y, and 4 you can hear it without vocal (stairway lies on the whispering wind..) and at the bridge. iirc for the live version.

  4. I was just about to post this. I am glad I took a look first. Someoen said. Pompeii hasn't changed. My response is: oh, yes it has: David Gilmour's version is far more complete. I can and have only listened to this one track. It is so good that I have all but, stopped listening to the original and or versions that are not this. Problematic. I know. Riddenour on the High G. The bass its transformational the cymbals crashs' are like the frolicking of feet on the water. The bass is like the jellyfish or dolphin beneath the water tickling the feet of the runner as they splash into a carnival of sound that terraces itself in transitions of three (triumvirate). The wandering bass is one. The frolicking bass is two. Then there is the solo. Its all resets again, and again. The drum not possessing bass floor tom for grounding the sound. It remains airy, aloft, aloof almost. Each part signaling a section of itself; as, yet, becoming and then is. Powerful. A big tent with kaleidoscopic features (astronimae Dominae 'ish in its presentation) where the carousel triggers a larger tent. Then, an even greater one. That very large tent houses the guitar. That guitar holds the truth of the solo. The solo that has not changed in over forty years.

  5. Sounds to me like you may need bigger speakers if you're listening loud enough to cause damage try and find some Chorus II's if listening loud is your thing or maybe some of the Pro models; KP-301's or KI-362's- I believe there's a set of 301's in the garage sale section right now, not sure where you're located but these would do the trick:

  6. My first experience with Klipsch was a long, long time before I owned a pair. I was in a store called Audio Labs in Des Moines, Iowa, probably about 1972. I spent enough time there that I had gotten to know a couple of the sales people fairly well. When I walked in one day, one of the guys grabbed me immediately and dragged me into the large room where they had a pair of K-horns powered with bi-amped Audio Research 100 wpc tube amps. He sat me in the sweet spot and fired up Karn Evil 9 by ELO. It was mind blowing! It took me 50 years to buy my own...not K-horns, but I'm happy.

  7. Been a very dry winter here. We so hope the 'fire' season is a quiet one, but 'things' do not look very good this year.. Another gorgeous day. Early spring showers with sun breaks.

  8. This amp is fully functional and in outstanding original condition. I had it hooked up to my Fortes and my music streamer recently and it sounds wonderful! Since the amp is over 60 years old, I was going to replace some of the critical capacitors, but after taking a look underneath, I chickened out. I'm including the new caps, a parts list, and the schematic with the cap locations marked. I don't have the ability to fully test the amp so I am selling it as is. In preparation for recapping, I opened everything up and did a deep clean. I used Deox-it on all of the terminals, connections, pots and switches. Everything work smoothly and noiselessly, and seems to be doing what it is supposed to. As far as I can tell, everything is original with the exception of the rectifier tube and the brass caps on the knobs. It has the original oiled walnut cabinet and the brass mesh vent panel is even in great shape! The amp is currently listed on Reverb for $995 and I may try a couple of other places.

  11. Time flies by very quickly, now the last week of my rehab is already beginning. In addition to swimming, I often go to the gym or do back exercises. Of the passive treatments, I like the electro-interference diadynamic treatment, the hydro-jet massage in the waterbed and the mud baths the best. I'm going to enjoy the next week, but I'm looking forward to coming home again soon.

  12. Today it's looking a bit more like spring here in Duckburg but the curmudgeon almost surfaced last evening w/the neighbor kid. Spring training started next door and naturally migrated to my back yard. The wiffle ball rule has evolved into a silver duck taped ball. Gonna hit 70 today so it'll prolly be time for the 10 year old to break out his bow w/real arrows next. Imma dead man.

  18. If it sounds good on most things, and sometimes not on others - it’s not the speakers it’s the recordings.

  19. Okay...they have arrived and they are set up. The first listen in order. Gary Moore "Dunluce Part 2" Rush "A Farewell to Kings" Rush "Xanadu"...both on Vinyl and then Andres Segovia playing some Ludovico Roncalli. Sounded effing AWESOME!!! I can't wait until they are fully broken in. In any case keep this chain going. It's interesting to hear about everyone's first Klipsch experience.

  21. So..... I have spent now hours trying to find the right answer to this question as I'm sure many of you can understand. Matching an AMP to the RP-8000F speakers. My concerns are most of what I read online says to get an amp that can push 1.5 - 2 X the wattage that the speaker can produce. Most of the responses to message boards I see online say anything close to the wattage of the speaker should be fine for Klipsch due to their efficiency, but I would like more specific direction. I have a large room that is about 20x30. The owners manual for the RP-8000F says reads: "Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and will operate easily on a wide variety of amplifiers. All Klipsch speakers are 8-ohm compatible and can be driven to very high levels with low distortion. Due to the high output levels Klipsch speakers are capable of reproducing, exercise caution with the volume control. Excessive volume over long periods can permanently damage your hearing. Overdriving your amplifier could also damage your speakers. Check with your dealer or amplifier manual to make sure your particular amplifier is best suited to your application. We want you listening for a lifetime." So really I'm down to a few choices at this point The yamaha A-S801 which drives 8 ohms at 140 watts per channel or something more powerful like Emotiva XPA-2 which drives 300 watts per channel Help

  26. So far so good. I know that there is a break in period but they still sound phenomenal. I know that most Audiophiles frown on this but I just ordered a Schiit Loki Mini+. I've been a drummer most of my life and the high end sometimes needs a little boost. I figured the way that the Audiophiles roll their tubes etc...it's almost like using an eq to fit your taste anyway. Like I said...this is just to boost the high frequencies on the recordings that need them for my crappy hearing.

  28. Don't chicken out just replace the big can caps with some from Heyseed Electronics and that big brown electrolytic and you will be most of the way there. I love these fishers and can't get enough of them. Good luck.

  29. Thanks! Oh I guess that I should mention. My first Klipsch experience was around 1980. My Father's new Heresy's. The first thing that I heard was The Victory at Sea soundtrack. I really felt like I was in The Navy during WW2. I was sold. I knew one day I would have to buy something from Klipsch.

  32. He doesn’t need new crossovers, he just needs to update a couple of parts. He needs to replace his current autoformer with a T4A, and substitute the 4mH in parallel with the midrange driver to a 5mH. The caps on those are fine, I have yet to find a bad one, and I’ve measured plenty. I stock both parts if interested.

  33. If they sound dull and recessed, caps may help. Use a good film and foil cap. I have not cared for the sound of metalized caps.

  41. @wvuvt1, Welcome to the forum. I have driven my RF-63s with my 90w/ch@8ohms Yamaha A-S1000 in my 5000 cu ft room and believe me it drives them with ease at higher volumes and high transient peaks. Bass drive is fast tight and punchy. That Yamaha A-S801, though not the 48 lbs beast that the A-S1000 is, should do a fine job with the RP-8000Fs. Bill

  43. Turn the sub volume down on the plate amp and increase the signal coming out of your AVR. You'll keep the same overall volume and the sub will receive a hotter signal to keep the auto on feature awake.

  44. I haven't given much thought to adding absorbers/ diffusors but I do want to do something in regards to insulating the sound and bass. In my current house I'm renting, the bass travels through all the walls and will be rattling shit on the walls in our bedroom and bathroom. Super irritating. I originally wanted to build or find a house for sale with a full basement so that I could turn that into my theater. I'd assume a basement would provide much better insulation for the sound but I couldn't find any existing homes for sale that fit my criteria, and it was another 50k to add a basement to the floor plan we ultimately chose. Anyways, as for the ceiling hight, I don't know for sure. I'd assume either 8 or 9 feet. Most likely 8 though. And on the side walls it's probably 5.5-6ft until you hit the 45 degree slants. Luckily half the bonus room is above the garage so I'm hoping that'll help reduce the bass felt/ heard throughout the rest of the house. I couldn't actually soundproof anything as the overall budget of the house before all the "upgrades" were right at the max I could be approved for a loan. I don't have any knowledge or experience with the "mirror test" but I have an idea as to what it is. Soundproofing my house to the best of my ability will surly be a priority though. But I'd almost need someone who knows what they're doing, test the room for the acoustics and how and where the absorbers and diffusers should be located. I'll be sure to do a lot of research on it though and I'm sure I'll have to consult you all with more questions I have in that regard. Also, since the bonus room sits half over the garage, the garage has to be completely finished to meet the builder codes so the bonus room will be fully insulated on all sides. I know that won't eliminate any of the bass but that's better than nothing. lol The floors will be carpeted too. I'm not sure if that makes any difference but there's that, too.

  45. Ok thanks man I really like these. So do you still use a screen for your setup? If so, any tips or suggestions or is it literally just set it up, calibrate the projector (or whatever you call that) and that's it? haha sorry for all the questions.

  46. Ok, I set my subwoofers to "Plus" in the MCACC settings. I don't however have a Y sub cable and may look into that. I never used one before and everything seemed to work amazingly. Is there a benefit? I did notice after changing my subwoofers to "Plus" that my KW-120 was working but not my SW. First thing tomorrow I'll continue to trouble shoot to the best of my abilities and I'll be sure to keep you posted. Thank again for the insanely quick responses and I hope you all have an awesome weekend!
