  1. Walmart blue vinyl. Not as good as the half speed mastered. Vocals seem toned down. Brad Delp is as much as Boston as Tom Scholz. Still pleasing to listen to. If one is found at Walmart, it's worth picking up. I've seen on Ebay asking stupid money. Pass on those.

  3. Which one? CBS, Mo-Fi, other? That album is my pet project. I've probably had 25 version of it. Currently probably 10+. Single Wally, Double Wally, Friday Music, Gold Foil promos, blue Epic re-release. Every time I see one in a used record shop if it has a orange CBS label and no barcode I buy it. Side one is pretty iconic in my book. Out of all the high dollar ones I've tried I liked the Mo-Fi the least. Kinda noisy. Love the blue on your P3, nice!

  4. Jackson Browne wrote the song "These Days" when he was 16, and it was was first recorded by Nico. I am always amazed at all his lyrics. The depth and quality of his songwriting is superb. https://blackbirdpresents.com/video/days-gregg-allman-jackson-browne/

Didn't see anyone moving her out of her position ... And she could shoot the ball. Averaging somewhere in the 20pt/game. letting some air to my boo boo. No, no pics and I don't wanna see John's, either ... especially that LOL

  9. We know speakers can sound different depending on placement, room dimensions, etc., etc. Importantly, horns can sound very different depending on the space they radiate into. For example, if you design a horn to produce low frequencies, and then slice it short at say 1/2 it's length, the lowest frequencies will be lost UNLESS it radiates into a more limited space, as it would if it were placed in a corner. This is the principle behind Klipschorns. I truly love my RF-7s, but unlike some heritage lines, the high/mid horn radiates straight out into 3D space. The more box-shaped speakers in the heritage line provide a "backboard" for the midrange horn because the mouth of the horn is set into the larger face of a box shaped speaker. So, the waves exiting the mouth radiate into 1/2 of a sphere for just a bit. Now, how big of a difference does this "backboard" really make? Well, as an experiment, I made simple backboards (anyone could do it) for the top 1/3 of my RF-7s. I made them much larger than they probably need to be, 11" on either side and on the top. Anyway, the results were truly, absolutely and measurably astounding. The backboard accomplishes two things. First, it makes the mid/high horn more efficient only for the lowest frequencies it's designed to produce (For reasons stated above, I don't believe they have the same effect for higher frequencies, which would be unwanted). I think it's well known that the RF-7 is quieter in the mids. I discovered quickly that the vocals in some of my favorite songs were put solidly into the background as a result. These backboards absolutely corrected the issue. Vocals now have that presence and ghostly realism that made my spine tingle when I owned Klipschorns. The second thing the backboard accomplishes is to change the waveshape of these mid frequencies. This is crucial. It's well-known that to maximize the imaging from the RF-7, you must point them almost straight toward you. This is because those mid waves exit the horn in elongated fashion, like a blimp leaving a hangar. The tip of the blimp needs to be pointing almost at your ears or else it will seem like the sound is "moving past you" on the sides. But the backboards make the waves more spherical, matching the geometry of the high frequency waveforms. I can now point my speakers nearly straight ahead, yet both the imaging and the soundstage are very noticeably enhanced. The RF-7 is already a great value, sounding as good as many non-Klipsch speakers twice the price (in my opinion). But this little "adjustment" absolutely propels them into another realm. Now, I'm sharing this experience in the hopes that someone with RF-7's and more diagnostic equipment than me (and/or better ears than me) gives this a try. I expect some will argue on principle that A), this "changes the design", or B.) "effectively changes the profile of the horn" or C) that, in theory, it will negatively impact the linearity of the frequency response. My responses are: A) The backboard is already a feature of several heritage lines and makes a valuable contribution, B.) The horn profile is not changed, just the space the horn is radiating into and C), as I said, the frequencies that are boosted are exactly the ones that would benefit the RF-7, by virtue of the shorter mid/high horn with smaller mouth. The most worthwhile feedback will be from someone who gives this a try for themselves. So very interested to get your feedback!!

  10. A buddy of mine hauled around a pair of La Scalas as his PA system back in 1977, and kept them in his van when not in use at a gig, and kept them hooked up to his car stereo. We spent many hours driving around Denton, TX like that, listening to a lot of the KANSAS / Carry on My Wayward Son LP, and Fleetwook Mac / Rumors. That experience prompted me to get my own La Scalas several decades down the road, although not using them as a car stereo -- but they sounded great in the van.

  11. When I was a teenager my best friend and I would visit Audio King, our local audio store. They had all kinds of Klipsch. I unfortunately don't remember the exact model, it was either a Belle or LaScala that they had set up in a sound room. Absolutely blew me away. I used to go there almost every week to chat with the sales guys and occasionally buy stuff. Never bought anything super high-end from them in terms of home audio because I was more into car audio at the time. Eventually bought a KV1 center speaker as my first Klipsch purchase. In the 30 years since then I've had probably a couple dozen different pairs of Klipsch including RF-7, forte I and II, Quartet, KG4, Heresy I, II and III, RS-42, SS2, KG 3.5, RF-25, and on and on. My current setup of 5 Heresys, two AW-650 for Atmos and two horn subs is by far the best I've ever had and the best I've heard anywhere.

  13. It’s in the article…. The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standard for rated speaker impedance is as follows: the minimum impedance shall not fall below 80% of the nominal (rated) impedance over the defined frequency range of the speaker. For example: 4 Ω speakers have a minimum impedance no less than 3.2 Ω 8 Ω speakers have a minimum impedance no less than 6.4 Ω

  19. Time flies by very quickly, now the last week of my rehab is already beginning. In addition to swimming, I often go to the gym or do back exercises. Of the passive treatments, I like the electro-interference diadynamic treatment, the hydro-jet massage in the waterbed and the mud baths the best. I'm going to enjoy the next week, but I'm looking forward to coming home again soon.

  21. Don't crank up the bass controls that the receiver has. That'll be the fastest way to suck out all the power it has. If you are using a subwoofer, make sure all your speakers are set to small and let the subwoofer handle the bass.

  23. Way back in 1986 my dad told me he wanted a new stereo for his penthouse beach house. We went to the closest high end audio store, Genesis Audio and listened to a full lineup of Heritage speakers. I can’t remember how he chose the Forte 1s at the time but they were far and away his favorite. Genesis was a very high end store and had mostly exotic amps etc. my dad wanted a simple receiver so I gave him my Sony and bought an NAD full separate system for my listening room. I had Cerwin Vega 380 SE at the time and loved them. When I got the fortes setup at dad’s house we played a Linda ronstadt disk which sounded incredible. I came home and played the same cd on my system. The Cerwin Vegas were no match to those Fortes. when my dads wife got home she had a sh#@#@t fit. lol she hated them but my dad listened to them every day the rest of his life. They passed to me when he died and are now my surrounds in my living room to go along with my Forte IV mains. I love the Klipsch sound signature.

  25. It may be good to have more input..but. If you like the set up is the most important. You shared your set up and opinion, that's what this forum about. If I had any issues with mine I'd give it try. Fortunately my placement and room work pretty well but it's great to see opinions.

  26. Google "baffle step compensation" there is science behind it. One would have to think that the engineers at Klipsch would have accounted for this in the crossover design but no doubt expanding the width of the baffle can dramatically alter the sound.

  27. Interesting idea. I'm always trying to make my speakers/systems sound better, so this is not such an odd idea. However, may I add a 4th letter... D) It will look very awkward in a nice living room and only be allowed to exist in a single man's mancave. I have a set of RF-7II's that I could give this a try on... probably won't happen for a bit though.

  29. Today it's looking a bit more like spring here in Duckburg but the curmudgeon almost surfaced last evening w/the neighbor kid. Spring training started next door and naturally migrated to my back yard. The wiffle ball rule has evolved into a silver duck taped ball. Gonna hit 70 today so it'll prolly be time for the 10 year old to break out his bow w/real arrows next. Imma dead man.

  33. The instructions for both connections are in the owner's manual, with a Y cable is just written instructions, balanced has a diagram. Don't believe you will have 6 watts doing this, tube amps don't work like solid state, about 4 watts at best.

  37. Hello, I'm looking for a good amp to drive a pair of Heresy IV speakers. I plan to have a turntable (that will probably need a pre-amp) and CD, and my room is 24'x24'x10'. I've spoke to Klipsch and they say the Heresy's need going with an amplifier that can provide between 80 and 120W (at 8 ohms and sticking within 20% of the Heresy's rated power handling of 100W. not an audiophile (yet) but I have some friends that claim they have extraordinary hearing. I'm looking to fulfill a dream from my 20's with a family when I couldn't afford a good stereo. I'm 70 now andI don't want to start too small and move-up latter. I've read a lot of recommendations where smaller amps are good, so I really don't know. I'd like to stay under $1000. I hope someone out there can help on this. Thanks Tom

  38. I think most people, including me until a few years ago, miss the real question... Which watt sounds best to you? If you can hear a few amps to find the sound you like, the watts question may become less important? For instance I prefer vintage amps to more modern AVR, chip and power amps, the few I’ve heard. I really like tube amps but they are a non-starter with the wife (little fingers could get burnt)... so they are out. Someday,I may acquire a First Watt amp hoping to hear near tube sound. Good luck in your search.

  47. A much more balanced sound and the harsh upper midrange some people says is gone, and for me after mod a big plus was obtained: an easy load for my Marantz 2245 and 2270, before the mod both receivers have problems with the difficult load my Heresy´s has. mod 100% worth best regards. Pio
