Fantastic speakers they are. I did get to hear a pair of Allison designed AR3s one time, but the setting was totally wrong and they were totally unimpressive. That particular store sold a lot of Bose, though. I would have loved to hear the AR3s set up correctly.

MicroMara
Despite my satisfaction with the hybrid combination with my SS Powerstage Marantz SA11-S3, I could not let it go. The knowledge alone that there is still something going on, according to the moddys from the American DYNACO forum and subsequent euphoric enthusiasm of those who have done it,...it left me no peace in the head. The curiosity was too great , so I stared the moddys today . Origin Layout with WIMA Caps Completion with Mundorf 4 x 1.0 uF 450 V Mundorf Evo Caps , 2 x 0.1 uF Mundorf Supreme Silver/ Gold Oil Caps 400V , 2 x 0.1 uF Mundorf Evo Caps 450V & 2 x 0.1 uF 650V also Mundorf Evo Caps & 6 x Silver Micas 1000uF 500 V plus assembly. connected to my SS Power Stage After a few hours of operation it´s clear that the DYNACO PAS 4 is a worthy successor to the legendary high-end components from the 1970´s traditionell DYNACO Line of products. He plays now in the 4K$ League . I `m going to continue the moddys with ELNA Silnic II or Nichicon filter Elcos , I will see in some month ...

I have a slightly newer one with plastic leads... and a vta board not yet assembled. Bought the amp in early '70s from a friend who built it. I paid him $50 for it. I need to get the board populated and installed.
TFR1
When my Fisher 500C quit working last year, I began a search for a replacement tube amp. I was contacted by several Forum members with suggestions and some with equipment they would sell me. Jimjimbo was instrumental in my acquiring my new amp and preamp. Without his help, I would never have found this great equipment on my own. McIntosh MX110Z and a McIntosh 275, a match made in audio heaven.

It doesn’t look like those RCA’s and speaker wire are doing any justice to the Mc equipment. However, great find!

However, great find! I was so excited to open the boxes when I got home, I just sat the amp and pre on speakers, grabbed some cables. Jimjimbo provided some Emotiva cables that are now connecting my devices. Jerry

mustang_flht
Hi, I have just recaptured my 1996 Cary SLI50, the chemical capacitors are about 27 years old (1995 marking) so it was time to change them: 1 x 2200µF 25v, 2 x 47µF 350V and 2 x 1200µF 450v. For the little ones I bought here in France some 105°C and for the big ones I bought from Mouser at your place in the suburbs of Dallas some superb VISHAY BC blue, to replace the old NIPPON CHEMI CON. The amp now works wonderfully, the sound is more defined, when turned on, after 3 minutes of heating, the 5U4G/5C3S rectifiers are less stressed. Room for photos
michaelwjones
As much as I like flea watt amps, I could not resist adding this Cary to the fold: 60 watts triode or 120 watts ultralinear. I am glad I replaced the HVAC in that room last week. 😀
