  4. Rain will just not let up....been going on for ever it seems. Not going out tonight. Just hang out and stay dry. Just had coffee with next to last girlfriend and its goods we can now be friends. The date yesterday with Ms. Indiana did not live up to expectations. Had a martini, couple beers, and wings and talked for two hours but in the end no sparks. Dating in your 60s sucks. Hope Sancho's son is okay. Hope Mark shows up soon. Too late for coffee so...... Cheers Gents

  5. Daughter flew in from N.C. for a visit and to be with my wife on her birthday Monday. Life is good. I've been working on a very elaborate lie to tell my wife that would allow me to leave the house at 10:15 PM and not raise any suspicion. It worked to perfection. I left my house at about 10:30, drove an hour and a half to pick my daughter up at the airport. We got in at 1:30 AM. All was good till my Rottie figured out that someone was with me and almost blew the surprise. Luckily my wife was sleeping hard at the time. The dog was doing his best "STRANGER IN THE HOUSE" alarm. I "hid" my oldest daughter who had just got in with my youngest daughter in her bedroom for the night (another surprise for my youngest daughter!). The surprise visit was unveiled at the breakfast table when my oldest daughter snuck up behind my wife and touched her on the side. All was well till my wife figured out that all the people that she knew were in the house were already in the kitchen and accounted for. She went from panic to elation in a fraction of a second. Wish I had filmed it, it was great.

  6. Normally the bid process is like the honeymoon. The contractor is generally on his best behavior to get the job. You're currently seeing the BEST SIDE of him. Don't expect things to improve or his attitude to get better once you sign on the dotted line.

  9. Beautiful CW's Jimmy! I love the cane grills. Cornwalls were my second set of Klipsch speakers. If I hadn't needed the cash to buy my wife's engagement ring at the time, I know I'd still own them now, awesome speaker for sure, enjoy them!

  12. The 1.4 inch exit means you can go two way with a little EQ also there are a fair number of 1.4 inch entrance horns these days if your look. The EV DH1A can be used as a 1.4 inch exit with the extender nose cup removed. I bought a pair of excellent condition DH1A for $260.00 shipping included. Unbelievable vale don't know of anything that can stand toe to toe with them. A used set of JBL 435 would be stellar they have three inch beryllium diaphragms but will set you back around $700.00 0r more for a pair in top condition. Best regards Moray James.

  15. Since this is HT, you gotta have it for the voice channel. I had PWK's resistor box for 30 years with Khorns and LaScala center, which allows for wide wall spacing. Under 12 feet, you don't need it. Over 15 you do. Went to Klipsch HQ a few weeks ago and their center between Khorns wasn't hooked up, which is silly because there was a definite R and L and NOT a solid wall of sound, which is the ideal behind all stereo configurations.

  17. It seems to me that the size of the theater room and intended coverage area would come into play, where things like Haas and precedence effect become important. Those of us with smaller sweet spots to accommodate can get great results with a phantom center, but bigger rooms with more listening positions to the left and right pretty much demand a center speaker.

  18. Congratulations on the Conrwalls, Of all the Klipsch gear I have purchased so far, my favorite was the cornwall purchase. My only recommendation would be to get the risers for underneath them, It only raises them 2 inches or so but I think they make a big difference not being directly on the floor. Enjoy the sound sir , may you have many more purchases to come Charlie

  19. To DaBomb, Welcome! Like you, I have read a lot of posts about this/these issues, too. I surely am NO EXPERT, so I offer only opinion: People (typically) have strong opinions at just about every point along the continuum. You know, the way they do it is about as perfect as is possible (perfection occasionally actually being possible)! The passion is fun for the participants. Toe it/them in just 1/3 of a degree more, move the left speaker back 1/4" and, voila! From barely tolerable to (near) perfection. For that particular spot/area of listening. Of course, be somewhere else in the room, or just passing through (in a large-enough area that allows it), and the result may be very different. To go to all the effort and various gymnastics to attempt to produce a wonderful "sweetspot"/area that could be produced very simply in reality. My question is why (outside of the fun of the effort and the discussions)? I mean, how often--if at all--can a good center (timbre and volume-matched) NOT enhance the delivery of primarily vocals? Literally, providing good horizontal and vertical delivery in the center of the action. Could be that my opinion reflects an insufficient immersion in the technicalities and equipmental possibilities, much less the joys of the endeavor. Could also be that my "senior" ears appreciate not having volume attempting to compensate for clarity wherever I am in a room. It is likely that some remedial instruction will follow this post, but, that is the fun and the profit, right?

  20. Two good speakers are better than 3 mediocre ones. 3 good ones are best IMO, but everything needs to match sound wise. The first time I tried the multi-channel thing I was using a RC-7 with Fortes. Not a great fit and the Fortes sounded better by themselves. But if you get everything matching and properly set up it is great for music and movies.

  21. When you have the time, go through this thread; https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/151224-my-new-deang-networks…/page-1 It shows how different people, most of them with huge experience, think about active versus passive. Personally I would go for active; I'm a believer after leaving a high-quality set of crossovers and went for a active setup , it never sounded so realistic and the flexibility of a active setup is awesome for fine-tuning. my 2cnts. 25. how small of a room is "small"? how far is the LP from the speaker placement going to be? fav's would be the Cornwall for boom or the La Scala for all around.

  26. I used to attend a drama camp where there were night dances with very loud, clear sound. They used two Heresies to fill a huge hall. Crossing over to a good sub -- or pair of subs -- at about 80 Hz would help the dancers feel the beat more. Some bass (kick) drums have a lot of output as low as 60 Hz, where the Heresey gets iffy. In a SFSU recording class we could strengthen the bass drive with boost as low as 40 Hz. There used to be a loft in NYC with a Klipschorn in each of 4 corners, with McIntosh amplification. Incredible!

  34. I would think you are on the right track. I'm not a sub expert by any means but the idea that a quality small 8" sub should work well with 5 1/2" bookshelves makes sense to me. A 1000w 18" sub would be way overkill in my humble opinion.

I told them I will not sell my stereo, tools or tractor, you two figure out the rest, it would take the better part of an 18 wheeler to move just those. Minermark left on his trip, just wondering, have not seen him this morning ?

  45. By denigrating what has become industry standard components and methods for dealing with performance anomalies, and insisting on adherence to "the path" of simplicity as the only way to go, you hope to steer business to yourself. You have insisted that the simplest "path" gives the best results in all cases (such as with tube equipment), with no proof at all of what you state as true. Perhaps that is because there is no such proof. There have been advances in horn technology during the last 30 years or so. Constant directivity horns are a good example. They require equalization for proper performance because of their design. When implemented properly, CD horns have much less, or no, beaming of high frequencies. Folded bass horns have traditionally caused time alignment problems because of differences in the acoustic path length between them and the other drivers in the horn. With the Khorn that difference is about 4 feet. It is impossible to correct this in a practical manner other than to do it electronically. You say the solution is to redesign the speaker. That's not practical. It is much easier to correct the time alignment with a processor. After that alignment was done on my Khorns they sounded much closer to what I hear when I hear live music. And recordings I thought were "bad" suddenly sounded "better" with no other changes to my equipment.

  46. Hey guys, I was going to sell my TSCM's but once they were removed from my system I couldn't live without their bass. So I am going to rebuild them, while they are down for rebuilding should I consider other drivers? Here are some thoughts I have been having....maybe a field coil driver from Classic Audio? Although this would be VERY expensive. Perhaps a 15 " servo driver from Rythmik and then of course you have the Altec fans. Has anyone played with different drivers in their K-horns or TSCM's? Thanks guys,
