  1. Dtel, he will need one of these... 454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet V8 produces 412 horsepower Just in case your havin' any trouble removing snow from your driveway... this baby will blow snow back to where it came from. If you're tired of anemic, one-lung snow blowers with their slipping drive belts, you might consider Kai Grundt's V8 snow blower which raises the bar on the traditional snow blower in every respect. With electric start, electric block heater, antifreeze heater and eight cylinders, it has no drive belts to freeze up and you'll never get bored with the job as the 454 cubic inch big block Chevrolet V8 produces 412 horsepower, 430 foot pounds of torque and can throw snow 50 feet at just 3500 rpm. Nor will you get cold as the machine has been ingeniously designed to route the engine coolant through the handle bars, with the rear mounted, enclosed radiator keeping the operator nice and cozy. Maneuvering the massive beast (it has a total wet weight of 912 lbs) is a breeze thanks to the hydraulic-drive 4WD skid steer on independent walking beams which offers a zero turning radius. It's also as fast as you like, with an infinitely adjustable speed range on the drive wheels via dash mounted flow control. At the opposite end of the scale, it has more than enough torque to pull your car out of the ditch before the hydraulic motors stall! Adding to the well-balanced feel of the unit, just 15 pounds of down force on the handlebars will lift the auger blade off the ground in order to climb stairs/walkways for ease of snow removal. Safety has and continues to be paramount with spring return to center "fail safe" type directional controls with emergency stop and tether cords. Safety is one of the key themes, with a flashing blue light (as required by law in many areas) being the least of the safety features. No-one will fail to hear you with those twin throaty exhausts, which come standard with 92 decibels at the controls, though if the rumble of a V8 exhaust is music to your ears, you can obviously go much louder. Even at the standard baffling, hearing protection is strongly suggested. The powerful yard machine lights and a dashboard with back lit gauges complete the package to ease the burden of this normally reviled task. The custom 42 inch, two stage auger has a Chevrolet 10 bolt truck differential with spool and a centrifugal auger clutch with shear pin protection, further adding to the image of this "automotive theme blower." As each unit is custom-built, optional extras for the snow blower are both diverse and outrageous as the base unit - there are unlimited auger choices from single to multistage designs and various motor combinations to suit the religious preferences of the customer (Chevy, Dodge Hemi, Ford) and such exotica as a V-10 or a diesel engine or remote starting can be accommodated. And if, after a while, you feel you've outgrown the 400 horses, this particular engine is well catered for in the performance modification area, with Lunati camshaft, Milodon Gear drive, Holley and Edelbrock components to name a few, and there's always the fuel injection option too, if you feel you need to throw the snow out of the county or ensure your seat in the "neighborhood blower blingster hall of fame."

  2. 3100, I couldn't sleep at night. Our house was built by us after we decided to scale back everything and get out of high notes. Being out in the country and about 15 years ago there were NO restrictions, I built our house with a $5 building permit and not one inspection. I did electrical for a good while and knew how to build a house, not a dollar was spent to hire someone to do anything. It's not fancy but very strong, it made it through 140mph sustained winds for almost a whole day with no damage. We had planned to build a log house in the back part of the property so we thought this one would be empty so I didn't want extra maintenance so the outside is colored metal like they use on roofs.

  3. So this sunday i had a bunch of friends over my parents house to watch dolphin game and to get in pool, ended up turning into a pool party. I thought about what i was going to have to play music. Us music and audio fanatics must admit the music and what is going to play the music is of utmost importance. My dad has a onkyo receiver with two older smaller jbl speakers out side. I thought to my self this is not going to cut it:) So i brought my 2 heresy II's and my NOS valve restored fisher 500c from my house, placed on a table and facing terrace and pool. See pic below. I have this set up in my room mostly for movies/tv and some times music. I really dont put it that loud or rock out. Honestly they dont get much use.... But wow did they sound awesome!! I had several people ask me about the fisher 500c, how old it was and they couldnt beleive how good it sounded. People were up and dancing in no time. People would ask to play there favorite song just to hear how good it sounds with this setup. The fisher 500c, restored, is so addicting to hear, just reproduces the music so beautifully. Detailed, nice tight punchy bass, smooth non fatiguing highs. To think that i was being lazy and didnt want to bring speakers and receiver over to my parents house. Never again! Dont ever let the lazy side get to you boys. Exploit your audio systems and enjoy music to the fullest! That is all. Alex

  5. I have been using Old English Scratch Cover for light woods with my cherry RB-75's for a few months now. I wipe it on about once a month and it really does hide the "surface" scratches pretty well. Bill

  7. I have a Yaqin CD-1 tube buffer that I use on the tape monitor loop of my preamp to help my digital sources sound more tube-like. I think I paid around $150 for it..........and at the time thought I got quite a lot for the money. Nice looking unit, not cheaply built, heavy duty packaging. Then I sent it to NOSValves and spent another $285 on it and had it all hot rodded with Auricaps and power supply improvements. I stuffed it with an Amperex Bugle Boy.............and it's been a very very nice addition and does its job very well.

  8. Never seen anything like that before, well the guy really thought of everything, coolant going through the handlebars shows he is a veteran at dealing with snow and cold. Anyone within blocks can tell when he is moving snow, it's kind of scary really, just to see that thing sitting there at idle would intimidate people.

  13. Been using one for over a year, not as good as quitting but much better than cigarettes. I just use a tobacco favored liquids, I tried other flavors but for me I wasn't looking for something else I liked just something to replace cigarettes. Every liquid no matter the flavor comes in different strengths of nicotine, for a replacement for a cigarette 18mg strength is a good place to start, you can over time reduce that with lower percentages. After switching and a couple of weeks it felt like I quit smoking, which I did a couple of years ago for 2 months so I know how it felt. Now I don't have that smell or the mess of cigarettes, not perfect but better.

  16. Minermark, I was addressing those who run the normal Klipsch stuff near their maximum output levels, not those running rigs from Hell. Some bi-amp because they want more power for the bottom, while others have to by default because they're running active filtering, which is where you're at. Right, you don't need to worry about power compression at 25 watts, but if that's all you need to agitate your neighbor, and you have a good passive network, you sure don't need two amplifiers.

  18. The first I have seen like that. They must be pretty old as the hats aren't triangular shaped like what has been built in the past 2-3 decades I think. They could be modded versions. Maybe some of the old timers can give us more info.

  20. Frigging Heron got my largest Koi this year. Too big to swallow so he laid the fish nicely on the side of the pond. Now I have netting with PVC pipe floating in the pond, with plants and the fish hide under that. Not suppose to shoot the damn Herons, but I have sat out with the Judge waiting for it. Like to scare it if I can. It still flys over from time to time but I've not seen it stop lately. My last house we built a Pergula over the pond so it wasn't visible from above and I never had a problem with the Heron. We have heated cement patio around the pond. Keeps the ice off the path in the winter. I REALLY don't want to cut through one of the wires when anchoring something down,

  21. The Chinese tubes may not be that bad. I replaced some Chinese tubes with some NOS General Electrics on a tube buffer and the Chinese tubes sounded better. Mullard reissues are nice for 12AXX tubes, if we haven't cut off Russian imports. I was looking at the new Mullard's earlier. I've heard they're good and may get a quad of them since I have two devices that use them. Oh, also Russ, I'll bet there's a bunch of the new Mullard's already outside of Russia, so we should be good for a while. I hope so but I just bought a small lot of 12AX7s and 12AU7s to be sure. I was really happy with the EL84 power tubes I recently bought, I might need to get more of those.

  22. LOL....you are bad Billy....so bad. Not sure about any "proven" ways of removing scratches from wood laminate. I'm bad....If it were me, if you haven't already agreed on a price, I would show up with cash in hand with less than they offered and see what they say and be prepared to walk out if they say no. You can always come back with more money. However if this deal is less than $1500, you might not even want to try and negotiate. Just take the deal and run.

  23. just a push to the top for a good guy They really do look better than you describe and at a great price, they should be gone by now. If anyone thought about the D45 it is a really clean sounding amp, for being a pro/commercial amp they are really have a good sound for home use.

  24. Looks like everything is going great, I really like how you are going (what seems to you) slow, all these little things your fixing now is the best way to deal with them. If you put any of it off the odds are they may not get done later, it's just the was things go. All these little details will make the end result that much better. Well done

  25. Naturally you would not expect this to happen, but Charlie Strong has a lot of housecleaning to do. However, UT has a QB commitment from a kid out of New Mexico that has the town talking.... Indeed it does Boxx and I sure hope Charlie can get his new prospect up to speed and get the Strong Ball format in place. You know as well as I do that Charlie is a new era for Texas and that the powers (and money) that be will be expecting a quick revamp With his coaching cleanup and player extraction I'm literally hoping we can pull one or two out before this years gone by

  26. Not for long, I suspect. If (when) they lose to another B1G team, they will be doomed, as losses to a team in the weak B1G conference will be especially damning. In the unlikely event that Nebraska or PSU were to run the table, including the conference championship, they would have a small chance if the other power conference teams trade losses. It's more likely that pigs will fly, and I'm not talking about the Razorbacks.

  27. In all sincerity, just be yourself. I've been to about 18 weddings, most of which as a photographer with no personal connection, and all of them were pretty pedestrian in nature. And honestly, it's not about you to begin with - so put the focus on them and whatever they have in mind and just blend into the background.

  31. What makes that tough is it goes so much further than sound, they look so different, like from one end of the scale to the other as far as looks go. The "average person" considering Palladiums would never consider any of the Pro line. imo I know it wasn't the question and I actually love the look of my speakers also, so I will hold out my answer for now.

  32. I can understand narrowing the dispersion angle on the vertical axis to reduce reflections and provide more efficiency. Like Arash says, there is a cost. I would think making a non round tractrix horn would be more difficult. A round one could be made on a lathe pretty easily. It would be tedious, and you would have to keep your measurements, but in the end, a perfect tractrix shape.

  33. i’ve definitely been a big city guy most of my life and don’t hate it; but, you know if i see one more used condom tossed onto the sidewalk, i may give the country life a try. I hope you country folk are a bit more civilized. I have lived in both, plus suburbs, the more space the better. Space = privacy and less rules and restrictions, after I moved out of the suburb's and lived with more space I found I could never go back.

  38. Ok I have to go do some grass and listen to some music. I know what your thinking............ cut some grass with headphones might sound better, but since the tractor just needs someone to steer, and it does have a cup holder, might as well make it fun.

  39. I use FH speakers and have tried the direct radiators and the RS speakers. There will be minimal difference if any between the two speakers. FH speakers deliver spatial cues and add ambience. There is no discrete FH channels on BD or DVD's. I use RS 35's for front height because they are easier to wall mount and don't stick out from the wall. There is no need to purchase special brackets to hold the speakers. I have use the FH speakers on and off over the past 3 years and like the vertical dimension that they add to the sound field with movies and music.

  43. My other half is a SECS member, and we too had to go to quite some length to find the right size for the S3's Indy so kindly awarded us. It was much easier sizing things in the company of P Thump in the library (he had one hell of a tackle box full of the buggers) than through target practice on Amazon, but she finally managed to get the right size.

  44. Nice picture. I thought the CW II had the woofer moved up closer to the mid horn. I am a happy owner of H III. They are easy to move around and being off the floor with a bit of a bass help from the amp, they sound fantastic. I have to note that I am not a fan of HT type low undefined bass. I like my bass to sound warm and accurate whithin the bass guitars region i.e. 50Hz -150 Hz. Never heard any of the CW's.
