  2. When I worked doing construction plumbing, we were always working with back hoe operators. Some were very talented. One guy would cross a wide ditch without the tires touching and for sport would pick up crushed cigarette boxes with one tooth of the bucket without disturbing the ground. He was a hell of a video game player as well.

  3. That took a high level of skill. My dog "Sparkit" is a really big Great Pyrenees. He brought a young fawn to the house in his mouth. Little creature was unhurt and we were able to return it to the wild.

  4. For about the first 24 hours, I was doing case counts on pallets, had to work in pairs and crawl up in the racks and count the physical cases. After that, I was driving straddle, a stand up fork lift that goes 6 bays high and has two legs that straddle either side of the pallet. you have to get off and throw cases to the side of the hole, pull out the old pallet, find out where a full pallet of product is with the telezon, and fill the hole. I was still getting over 100 pallets an hour at 52 hours which is better than a lot of guys get on their regular shift, but because of tunnel vision and not being able to take in what was going on around me, I almost ran into a guy and almost ran into a fork lift as well the last 8 hours? Roger Yea, but that's just Roger's part time gig.....in real life he's a brain surgeon.....

  6. Enjoying some "Clubhouse American Cream Ale from the local Griffin Claw Brewing Company. I couldn't resist the cans. The brew is a little to "Bud-like" for my tastes (I prefer something that can't be mistaken for a urine specimen), but it's perfect for getting in the mood for Opening Day, Friday April 8. My nephews and niece are treating us to Opening Day tickets as a thank you for help with my late sister's estate. I've never been to Opening Day. The tickets are in section 132 behind the Tigers' dugout. Now, if we can just have weather like yesterday, sunny and 60'ish, it'll be great. We'll have a good time no matter what the weather. Go Tigers! Isn't it amazing how that beer stays in the glass when tipped on it's side like that?

  16. Good luck with the turkey hunting. I won't likely get in a turkey hunt this spring. Did well this deer season though. Between myself and my 15 year old son, we put four deer and a hog in the freezer. Had a ham from the hog for Easter dinner - you cannot buy a ham that tasty at the supermarket!

  17. Budget? You mean we should limit what we spend on audio related endeavors? Back to your question... The difference in total output between a 60 wpc AVR/amp and a 120 wpc AVR/amp is 3 decibels. If you double the power again (240 wpc) then you get another 3 dB in potential output (if the speakers can handle it). The difference between 100 wpc and 120 wpc is less than 1 dB, meaning you wouldn't likely hear it. If you're going the AVR route, then make sure you get the features, inputs, etc. you want and not be too concerned if one has 10-20 wpc more or less than the other. Personally I'd stay in the $500 and up range as you'll generally get all the basic bases covered. That particular Pioneer receiver does seem to have most of the basic "bells and whistles"... But, it DOES NOT have separate pre-amp input jacks. So you wouldn't be able to add an outboard amp(s) in the future. So if you wanted more power, you'd have to move to separates (amp & pre-amp) or buy another, higher powered, AVR.

  21. Too right. The general "chef" wisdom is to go with multiple smaller turkeys when needing a lot of pounds of product. Two 14 pounders are better than one 28 pounder, for example. The reasoning is it becomes way more difficult to cook a very large bird correctly (evenly without drying out some parts). Not only that, but you get more wings, drumsticks and thighs and breasts. MMMMMM, thighs.....and breasts.....

  22. Almost exactly one year ago, the last week of March 2015, I acquired my first pair of Klipsch speakers, 1979 Heresy 1 H-BR. These little gems improved my listening experience so much that they led me to purchase my second pair of Klipsch speakers three months later, 1994 Chorus 2 with Crites crossovers, Crites Titanium tweeter diaphragms, Crites Phenolic Midrange diaphragms and newly reconed woofers. Both pairs became the core of my Home Theatre system and are used many hours daily for TV, movies and music, usually together in an A/B configuration for stereo music listening. In November 2015 I got a pair of KLF20's, bone stock, no loose baffles. These are set up in the Master Bedroom and are used for 2 channel stereo listening. I have Titanium tweeter diaphragms that will be installed in the next few days and will post my thoughts after I've listened to them a bit. Because I listen to these wonderful speakers so much, it has become difficult to listen to lesser quality systems. It's like a whole bunch of the music is just missing and it takes quite a while to get used to. I'm now accustomed to hearing the details, a drum stick hitting the bell of a ride cymbal, the nuances of a vocalist, slight string noises of the guitar and fingers plucking notes on a bass guitar. Without these details, the music is basically background noise, which leaves me looking forward to getting home to MY system. It's not so bad if I'm at someone's home with a decent rig, but that doesn't happen often. Many thanks to all of YOU, for sharing your time, knowledge and experience with new guys like me. I've learned a ton about Klipsch and fine audio in general. I don't get to visit here as much as I'd like, but whenever I do, I learn something new and have never been treated badly, which speaks volumes about the quality of the folks in this community. Thanks again and rock on!

  28. Well I was off today and had a chance to work on the screen mounting a little. I was still deciding just how to configure the brackets when I stated so as a result I'll be running to Lowe's once again for more bolts and brackets. Still have fine tuning to do as well as fine something other than my old set of Heresy's to hold the 64. The AT screen is great so far... Thanks Clinton for the encouragement to do it. 33. What is your actual budget? Sub is the second most important speaker in home theater following the center. Your doing it right by three towers why stop at a wimpy sub? Save up some extra money and spend I would say at least 500$ on either a pair of bic pl-200's or a single better quality subwoofer like a Svs pb-1000.

  36. You pretty much nailed it Roger. I bought the LaScalas on a whim just to hear them in my own home and had no idea what I was about to hear. I realize not everyone has the ability to have very large floorstanding speakers but if you ever get the chance to demo some heritage speakers...they are great...for both music and for HT. What's a reasonable price for a pair of used La Scalas in good to excellent condition? I considered Heritage speakers to be sort of the endgame, whereas I'm just kind of getting started in all this, but I'm listening... You guys are freakin' dangerous!

  38. Hey Jeff, Are you interested in starting a multi Billion dollar class action law suit? and I'm not talking about the link, but something much bigger? Roger Multi-Billion isn't enough. Sorry. Kidding aside, I had a brief stint in a firm which brought me just outside the tier of Big Plaintiff's Cases. It was then when I understood 2 things much better: (1) in the big arena, law is a business, and (2) when big bucks are involved, you need a bottomless pit of money, and it is pretty cut-throat and nasty.

  47. welcome! how far down the road is the other stuff gonna be added? if a long time, maybe just a nice integrated amp right now. seems like music is high priority. a nice integrated amp will almost always be better for music than a surround sound receiver.
