  1. Greetings! Been lurking on the page for some time. Finally posting to share my Heresy restoration. Picked up a pair of 1978's for $200 but they were pretty rough but the sound! WOW!!! SO impressed by these I started doing homework on re-veneering them. Re-did them in red birch and used Watco Danish Oil Red Cherry to finish them. I wanted something little different so I ran the grain vertically in the front and front to back on the top. Bob Crites re-cap and risers (same veneer). The came out better than expected considering 1) I never did it before and 2) They were ROUGH. A couple corners were trashed. One tweeter had been replaced with a second generation. Not sure what I will eventually do about that. Anyway... I took a LOT of pics along the way. Photobucket link below. Be glad to answer any questions... I have a few to ask myself! LOL My goal is to pick up some La Scala's at some point. I'm in Alabama. If anyone hears of any, please let me know. Perhaps some trading could be involved as well. I have a few systems. Complete album here>>> http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/MCoffel/library/Klipsch%20Heresy%20Restoration

  3. The benefits you are talking about was being considered a second class citizen in many parts of the country. Being denied seating in certain restaurants, movie theaters, seeing the National guard attack your people for trying to go to school, ect. I think you may have been living in a different America than some minorities during that time.

  4. Son in law is here this weekend and will be picking up his caravan'd Forte II's. We set them up in the living room with my 6 watt class A mono blocks and are streaming misc through my DAC. I'll hate to see them go. They sound really nice.

  6. Morning all. Very nice Capt'n. A coupla cups, two large milks with a bacon/bacon/bacon and egg sammich, packing up for the ATL trip and overseeing the son's pack up for his trip to Orlando with his high school band to perform at Disney.

  8. B.S.Edit: I vilify him because he was born an United States citizen and THAT requires that a male of legal age serve THEIR country as called upon. Once he made the decision that he did not want to honor that 'commitment' and left he should have had ZERO opportunity to make income in the country he choose to leave. I don't give a rat's behind what he changed his 'name' to in order to make religion an issue. He never left. Who do you have him confused with? He went to draft board, filed as a CO, they refused to grant him CO status. He took it to court, lost, appealed, lost again, and he took it to Supreme Court and won. You can't be more of an American and in the rule of law than that. He was perfectly willing to go to prison for what he believed in.

  9. That's easy. The KPT-Cinema Grandeur. http://e994010f48279d85b5d7-a0bc3fbf1884fc0965506ae2b946e1cd.r57.cf2.rackcdn.com/product-specsheets/KPT-Cinema-Grandeur-Data-Sheet-v01.pdf It stands 9'7" tall, 6'2" wide, weighs in at 500 lbs, 110 db with 1 watt, and can produce 40 Hz - 19 kHz within a 3db curve. edit: You need at least 3 of them!

  10. Klipschorns were designed in the Mono age, and do an excellent job as singles. I'd suggest feeding a single with a monaural source and signal before wiring stereo into one speaker.

  20. Here is a photo I took with two complete Khorns inside of a 4Runner. It was a bit of a puzzle to get them to fit, but I still had enough room for two people to ride in front! If you can't tell from the photo, the bass bins are positioned face-to-face. The top hat would only fit as shown -- if I had rotated the one on the end by 180 degrees, it wouldn't have fit as the longer top point would hit the window and not allow the hatch to close. Based on this, I don't think you can get a vehicle much smaller than a 4Runner and still get both to fit. After I loaded both Klipschorns, the seller told me that when I showed up in a 4Runner, he thought I wouldn't be taking them home that day (I did a test fit prior to making that trip).

  21. Unless you can find a great deal on a single that you can sell later (which can prove to be difficult) do not buy 1 K Horn if you really want two later on. Your chances of finding a matching single K Horn later on are almost zero. Buy some Cornwalls or Chorus speakers for now and move on when you have the funds.

  22. Ali was a much smarter fighter than Tyson and faster. If Ali could have stayed away and pummeled him with jabs, I think Ali would have worn him down. However, if Tyson would have caught him with that big left upper cut or overhand right? I would have paid very good money to see that fight!

  23. You're confused as always, that's not an oxymoron. The proper example would be Chuck and a good martini. You're not going to start bragging about those vodka flavored iced slushies again are you?

  24. It looks like Scrappy's response was a kneejerk reaction. The OP pissed him off and he wanted the OP to know that. Interestingly, ninja put a LIKE on Scrappy's response. He was obviously furious about Scrappy's post, and you could feel it in his response. There is a fist fight getting ready to happen, and people are ready to take sides. This could be an all-out gang war! Which side should I be on? Hmmm... The new guy or the plank man? Who is right? hmmm.... I may need to sleep on it. Hey I just figured it out. I shall be on Bill's side. Blessed be the peacemakers for they shall inherit the Earth. Bill, I will flip ya for the Northern hemisphere.

  34. I leave for Alabama in 2 weeks to pick up the new cabinet! This week, I will begin disassembling my current false wall and painting the front wall flat black since the new screen will have the ability to raise up as well as interior lighting to reveal the LaScalas through the AT Screen (not sure how well that is going to work. Will post pics later this week. I also have to climb into my attic and run 12gauge Romex from the garage to the Theater Room so we can run a dedicated circuit to the HT for the equipment.

  35. Oh I recall now. It was all those guys who had never had a martini before proclaimed yours the best......snicker...snicker. No bragging about your package either. We would have to start a new thread "Selected Short Subjects". Or as Groucho said "It's short but not too big around" hehe....... Gotta run my sides are splitting......

  41. It is clearly the gorilla's fault. Other kids have fallen in gorilla pits and the gorilla's "saved" the child This gorilla clearly had issues. Unless you abide by the "there are no bad gorillas, only bad gorilla owners" theory.

  44. Original corner is just 20" on left side and 27" on the right. How to extend to 48" without blocking access to the kitchen or bathroom/bedroom. A strip of adhesive backed felt on the bottom lets the hinged sections slide on the bare wood floor. Now how to anchor them to the wall without marking it up? At the moment the extensions are just held in place by the Khorn pushed against them.

  45. About 25 years ago I spotted some huge Klipsch professionals speakers sitting on the stage at the ancient theater in Taormina, Italy. I took a photo (slide) but I believe it was included in a bulk of my slides that were lost during one of my relocations. Anyway, they were in a beautiful setting and that old theater still gets used for performances.
