  6. It does. Does the Ignore User option include a Button that will have a Send Birdie Now Function??? No, but I'm toying with changing the reputation system to "like OR dislike" vs just "like". "Dislike" is bound to stir the pot worse than you've already seen it stirred.

  7. We have been mia for the last 5 days which is the reason for no replies or silly comments, my favorite. Went to Lafayette Louisiana to spend time with friends and be abused by Kevin's new sub matched with his Jubes. Kevin got one of Klipsch's new monster theater subs, the 1802, a single 18" driver in a horn loaded cabinet. It's the best sounding and cleanest sounding subs I have ever heard. I expected it to sound good but was shocked, it completely blew away the PAIR of KPT 684's he was using, each 684 has 2 18" drivers, so a single driver 1802 blew away 4 18" direct radiator's, That's what horn loading can do ! I have to give credit to Roy D, this is his design, great work, I have never heard a sub blend so well and be this clean and powerful. When I told Roy that he looked at me and said " so you doubted me" Of course being at the Harmon's house and in Lafayette La your going to eat some great things, and that's just what we did, in large quantities. Boudin balls, different kinds of sausage, including deer, burgers with and without deer, and with deer and brisket mixed together, and being in Lafayette of course it is all seasoned very well. Also something Kevin's brother cooked, a giant pot of a mix of pork chops, and many different kinds of sausage all cooked down after being added to a really nice dark roux and cooked for hours, I had to walk away before i hurt myself . Kevin cooked a brisket one day, I don't know what he seasoned it with but it was perfect, I had to control myself with it. I left out many of the other things we ate but it was pretty much non stop, you don't go there to loose weight ! We all were planning to leave on Sunday but it was raining and someone said, "hey it's raining and there are thunder storm warnings and the bridge is out so we have to stay to tomorrow", which is all it took to get the party going again, the bridge thing was made up As always it's a great time visiting the Harmon's and it's hard to leave. Thank You Now to get back to abnormal .....................

  12. Keith, I hope this was a condescending apology, because I would not apologize for being real. I agree as well that today's world is a bunch of pansies and that it needs to change. People need to get over themselves and being so PC and making sure they go out of their way to make sure they let you know you're wrong because you don't agree with their thought process. I don't know what was said, nor do I care, but the reason I have backed off the forum for some time is because of the PC. I actually had someone on here complain that I called myself white trash and was asked not to use derogatory language. It's a joke to me how people today are so much into what someone else says or does when it doesn't immediately affect them or their families personally. People used to mind their own business and not care what was said as long as it didn't physically hurt them. "Sticks and Stones" is no longer a valid saying. Just my 0.02. I could care less what anyone says or how they say it,so long as it doesn't physically hurt me or my family. Sorry you feel the need to apologize, and I don't mean it in a negative way. Saying sorry for something you really feel sorry for is one thing, saying it to appease is another.

  13. Hello everyone. After 16 years here I have finally earned a 'warning point'. I wanted to apologize to all the members here that read the offensive words that I posted and promise that I will refrain from using foul language in the future. In an attempt to explain, not justify, my use of coarse words here I will say that my working background was in labor. The work was hard and men were men and we men conversed as men. Sometimes words were used among ourselves that may have been offensive to more tender individuals, but at the end of the day we were bound by a bond that was built around hard work and accomplishment. You learn a lot about people when you are pushed to your limit in conditions that test a persons endurance and work ethic. So it is from this background, manually pounding granite 12+ hours a day (mostly nights), that I am trying to transition from to the more modern world where people are now more easily offended. I feel like a douchebag, however that feels. I have no experience with douchebags just as I have not had interaction with the seemingly softer individuals that are so prominent today. So, I am a relic. A specimen from the past. Thank goodness that I am no longer employed and subjecting others to my crudeness. I will soon go to the Gulf Coast to meditate for a few weeks and hopefully return as a more understanding and caring individual with the understanding that our world is now more sensitive and quick to shoot off a message to authority when subjected to crude language. Today I will go buy khaki pants and a baby blue button-down shirt to begin my transition to understanding. Wish me luck! Keith

  14. On the upgrade/downgrade button. We have a limited form of that now, the "best answer" button. Is that just for the OP to use? I don't think I have ever used that feature. I would try it out first first with just "upgrade" as the only option. I like idea of a poster asking for sincere help to be able to indicate what he thought was most helpful (best answer). I also like the idea of members being able to "reward" a useful and helpful answer by upgrading it. I would think that good answers would rise to the top and people can be lead by example. The person with the most "best answers" AND the person with the most upgrades should each win a free prize. A toaster would be nice. As to the like button in Hope, I used up my daily allotment of "likes" in Carl's Corner within 30 minutes of it opening. On the, hopefully, temporary loss of Ibiza. The loss of anyone under 30 on this forum should be alarming to anyone who wants the Klipsch brand to be strong and thrive. They are all potential lifetime consumers of Klipsch, and they are all going to have kids that will need earbuds and headphones. They pay money to take dates to the movies, creating more demand for new theaters and thus more demand for Pro Cinema products, which are made in Hope by the way. I would bet the CEA has good data on what the 20 to 25 and 25 to 35 demos will spend on audio gear and I am guessing it is probably 10x as much as the 65+ demo. That "kid" and all of his friends should be welcomed back on bended knee. As a matter of fact, Chad should create a private, members only forum called Under 30. They can all go there and ask anything they want without worrying about it. They can also make fun of all of us; about how out of touch we are; are locked into a set and inflexible view; and that those who are inflexible become less relevant with each passing day.

  15. I've already registered my sentiment AGAINST it. I didn't think it was that close to becoming a reality but if you're seriously considering it, I'd like to lay out my reasoning for being for being AGAINST implementing the "NO" vote. 1. I don't want this place to become as hateful as Youtube or Twitter. 2. There is already a mechanism in place to display a negative, and that is within a response post. There is and of course . 3. If a person doesn't want to create a post with the negative emoticons, they can AGREE with a poster who has 4. I don't want posters to "make alliances" or form cliques based on dislike of a poster or their position In other words, if a poster wants to "down vote" a post I would make it hard, not easy. So given the chance you would dislike the dislike button?

  17. So as my wife and I frequently visit friends in Wichita it seems all the local talk was folks on the lookout for Frankenstein. I suited up and with help from Woody, he has been found, captured and relocated. Resting safely from the publics prying eyes he is performing as expected and then some. But dont cross this guy he Will take your head off at a moments notice. But he is purring at the moment. Its already becoming difficult keeping Frankenstein and the KHorns seperated. I see a family fued in the future. Thanks to Woody for assisiting in the capture and relocation of the mythical beast. But Frankenstein was doing well at Woody's, beautiful digs.

  18. Now that's funny and a good question, maby should have mixed a little Holy water in the paint ? See the way I have it figured is this. I bought a really expensive thermostat and smoke detector placing them both up the chimney. I set out shot glasses of vodka leading up to the fireplace. Early the next morning I closed the damper and then painted with metallized paint which everyone knows a spirit cannot pass thru. He/she/it must go up and out the chimney; no more hauntings allowed. edit; sad part is that I mishandled a ladder and now I have a customized Belle

  21. Wow, I didnt realize he had not posted here since that thread which I do remember. I think it would be a good idea to reach out to him, I really liked the guy and this forum needs more young people to carry on the audio tradition and hobby. I think he was the youngest member here actually. Which is why some of those here posting their snarky apologies should maybe think about the fact that just because something doesn't bother YOU, doesn't mean it won't bother someone else. And if you happen to offend someone else in some way, maybe be a nice human being about it rather than post fake apologies about it. It's not about being "P.C." (whatever that means to you), it's about just thinking before you "speak". The backspace key is sometimes more powerful than you think. /rant

  22. Face to face conversations are so much different than forum posts, emails and texting. Things can be misunderstood so easily. In face to face communication, we know how to respond because it is usually clear that we are being attacked. What's more, we are being challenged in a more private setting and not from a podium for all to hear. In these other forms of communicating, we have to be much more thick skinned and less quick to temper. We have to understand that the person who seems to be challenging us or ignoring us may simply not be communicating well because they don't have the time, or the written communication skills, or perhaps not paying attention. With thick skin, it can stop there. Perhaps a rebuttle with humility and politeness is a way to clear the air and resolve these misunderstandings. With thick skin, we are showing the audience of the person on that podium what we are truly made of, patience and understanding. We are stopping the war before it starts. We are educating the person and the people that this is a really effective way to resolve differences. With humility, politeness and some thick skin, we can make all of this stop. We don't need to all hug one another and sing Kumbaya. We just need to understand that what we type and what we read, though it has clarity in our own minds, can be completely misunderstood from the true meaning.

  28. How I spent the weekend besides the coffee and adult beverages to get me thru this. So the wife wanted the fireplace wall to be painted in a shade of grey while she was vacationing. My sister came down and selected this color. First time painting with metallic paint ($$$) hope I don't have to repaint when the boss gets home.

  29. Dad had a great day. Thanks for the congratulatory messages. Judy and I took him and his girlfriend to lunch, then on to his party. Got to see lots of cousins and friends I haven't seen in years. It is just hard to remember to not look in the rearview mirror so I don't see him stealing a kiss from his girlfriend, Mardie.

  33. Agree wholeheartedly with this.... ... Those that think a persons post count reflects their knowledge or "value" are WRONG there are definitely people here with high post counts that spout BS consistently . If you post you should be able to defend your post or at least state that its an educated guess or only your opinion ! If you don't have the backbone to back up your remarks... ...and just as importantly, the integrity and courage to admit when you are wrong.

  37. After a bad experience with a stereo receiver, I'm a bit biased against them as a whole. I bought a Yamaha a few years ago that said, on the spec sheet, 100w per channel. It was the most miserable-sounding distortion box I'd ever heard, and it could barely push medium volume on a pair of 95db Synergy towers before distorting tremendously. I later found out that a lot of these units are measured unrealistically at a single frequency or other means like that; it'd be like if you measured your car's MPG at 40mph in top gear, with the interior stripped out, while going downhill. The ensuing number would be worthless. And as others have pointed out, the numbers are sometimes confusing about how many driven channels it refers to. One good way to ensure an upgrade path would be to make sure your chosen AVR has pre-outs. That would mean that you could add separate power amps later and achieve drastically better sound. You could do this gradually, too: You could get a dedicated power amp for your mains and center to begin with, for example. Or you could start with your AVR (with pre-outs) and get a full 5-channel power amp later. Another path, which is what I'm doing, would be to focus your budget on the electronics and the two front speakers and add the other speakers as your finances allow. You could find a very nice power amp and surround preamp now and have a 2.1ch home theater, which will sound incredible, and add the other speakers as you see fit. In my case, I have an Adcom GFA-535 (65w) stereo power amp and a GFA-7607 7-channel amp (125w), as well as plenty of speakers. Once I find a suitable HT preamp that meets my needs, I'm going to use the GFA-535 for my mains, then the GFA-7607 for all other speakers. If there's anything I've learned, it's not to neglect the importance of good electronics. I use my 2.1 system for music and video games, and while I'm not playing in surround, there's nothing like being able to experience the full crack of game music and sound effects without compression or distortion.
