  1. It actually might have been two summers ago. My neighbors absolutely love me, whenever they see me pull the speakers out everyone congregates in my driveway and around the front of my house, I love it! It really is amazing how fantastic they sound outdoors with all types of music. We have such great neighbors, people come over, bring bottles of wine and other drinks kids ride around the circle out in front of the house it's just a great party atmosphere…

  5. I've kept my saga off of the forums for the most part because...I really hate spreading my personal affairs among people. It's just one of those things that I tend to avoid... When I started school, I did so with the intention and drive to get in to the military as a civilian somehow. Applying knowledge or skills that you learn as a historian into any field is a wealthy trait, and I went into that field knowing full well the flack I'd get from people, and the generic: "you gonna teach?" responses. It all comes down to how you market yourself, I have learned. My dream job was working in archives or at a military museum of some sort. Living in my part of the country offers you little, except for one of the largest armories in the country, and the only U.S. Government owned munitions facility: the Rock Island Arsenal. In May, I took up a volunteer position there working at the museum. This counted towards internship credits that I could apply towards my Museum Studies minor, since most of my major requirements have been fulfilled. The museum and points north are all part of Army Sustainment Command - and one of my professors happens to be active within the ASC (not sure how high up he is, but he's up there). I managed to get through the USAJobs website (that was a treat), and have now been informed that I have an interview coming up with ASC. I am aware we have some ex-military members here, and I know of at least one person here who is Army Civ (even on the same base). Does anyone have any pointers for a government/federal interview? I've been told in the past they are fairly intimidating and can throw you off your game really fast... Thursday needs to hurry up and get here...

  6. teaman, I have had my Emotiva PT-100 for a month now. For 300 bucks I don't think you can find anything close to it. The pre amp is very basic, no bells or whistles but that is what I was looking for. The display is easy to see and has your basic functions. The tuner section works great, with the wire antenna that came with it I am able to pull in stations 60 miles away. I have been using the PT-100 to stream Spotify, very happy with that sounds great. I also purchased the new Emotiva CD-100 cd player, which I also really like. I have done a A B comparison using the RCA or Optical cable. I think the Optical cable sounds better. Once again for 300 bucks I think the Emotiva CD-100 player would be hard to beat. I don't have a turn table yet to try the phono section out, so I can't give an opinion on it as of now. I am using the Emotiva XPA GEN 3 2 Channel power amp, and a pair of Klipsch Forte's along with the PT-100 and the CD-100 for my bedroom system. I am very happy with it, sounds great. The only 2 negatives that I have on the PT-100 was the tuner section was hard to program, instructions in book didn't work for me. Quick call to Damon at Emotiva had me going in 5 minutes. Also the remote the volume moves very quickly, so just be careful.

  8. BeFuddled - owned modified KHorns (complete Fastlane Elliptrac top hat, ALK extremes) and Jubilees at the same time. Same room, same electronics. The KHorns now reside with another forum member. IMO any type of modified Klipsch horn element compared to a Klipsch designed Pro speaker is not a fair fight. And rightly so. I am also convinced my Fastlane KHorns did not have the live presentation "jump" as do the stock KHorns Ive heard in the Hope sound room. Klipsch horns are designed to replicate a live sound for the home. While live can never be replicated in home hifi the larger factory Klipsch horns, KHorns, LS, Jubilee, 396, come much closer to live than the more hifi sound of aftermarket "upgraded" (read modified), horns.

  16. That's awesome agreen60, happy to hear you are enjoying the Emotiva products as well. The Emotiva support staff really are good there, not many companies can assist you as promptly as they do. Damon is a great guy, I have chatted with him many times. That sounds like a really nice bedroom system, again the reviews of the third gen Emotiva amps are drawing many rave reviews. I have both first and second gen amps and really enjoy them. I have owned all three of the ERC model cd players and was thinking that smaller CD-100 would be perfect for budget minded people that want good quality. I would think that system would mesh very nicely with your Forte's. Tim

  18. That looks sweet brother. So glad you got that Sherbourn amp for your set up. Those small component fans are a great idea. I own the Sherbourn one and it works great in my system. My processor of all things heats up quite a bit and this does a good job of keeping it cool. I was nice to see those AC Infinity fans are now available at Audio Advisor. 99 bucks is a good deal too. 26. My best friend grew up wanting to be a Civil War (U.S.) historian. After a detour to SE Asia, He finished school, got a job at a C.W. site in Georgia, moved to Texas for a while, back to Georgia. Became director of museum at Ft. Stewart, GA. Moved to the Edison Historical site in New Jersey, the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, Carlisle, PA, finished up in D.C. Along the way he published some books on the Civill War. He's now officially retired. Other than being in the Army during the Viet Nam era, he was a civilian employee. If you would like, would you like to get in touch with him? Bruce

  33. My son is DTR20 and when he got his Belles we tried everything and they sounded like crap. They had half way decent highs and mids but the bass sounded like a transister radio. No matter what we tried they sounded like crap.We tried 4 or 5 AVRs. I was so upset that my Onkyo 717 with 110 watts per channel couldn't get them to play good. After that I tried talking my son into selling the Belles that everything we heard about them wasn't true or that there was something wrong with them even after he rebuilt the crossovers. Then his friend came over with an old Sony and they came alive. My son bought the Sony on the spot.
