obviously the Ketchup thread, then any thread where you guys say nice things about me...by the way, where is that thread, don’t think i’ve seen it. Actually most of you are a pretty nice bunch. Too bad we’re all not closer geographically -- i’d let you all take turns buying me dinner.7 points

I like to make boomboxes for fun. Used some leftover bamboo plywood that was laying around the shop. I think it did make an interesting finish and was fun to work with. this one has just a couple coats of urethane, someone with more skills than me could probably make a real nice looking pair of speakers.4 points

Lol! My brother was a Radio Man on a Mine Sweeper, etc. in the Navy from about '59 to '68 . He calls them "Dits and Daws". He can speak in Morse and it is a trip to hear him do it. Just had my second surgery last Friday and it has been A LOT less painful. Was able to stop the pain meds. after the second day. Turns out that the surgeon may also be able to fix the ankle with three surgeries instead of four. He seems to think he may have sufficiently restored my arch and can move on from that. Finally some good news of sorts.4 points

Very cool. Building boomboxes is an awesome hobby, its a fun challenge to balance performance/portability/durability in one small package. What amp did you use? Also, is it a mono-summed network or full range L/R with sub?3 points

I really liked my SC-1323 when i was running it in a 7.2 setup in my HT. My new Denon definitely has a warmer/darker signature which some people prefer. I think @derrickdj1is running a SC-99 in his Atmos setup if you're looking for hands on experience.3 points

Recall purchasing this album, motivated by my enjoyment of "Steely Dan". Recall the first time listening to, being stunned by the quality of this recording. The detail and power of the music was a new experience. That moment, is when I believe my ear matured in its ability to appreciate quality audio. The quality of the recording was a pleasure and I became less focus on playing for he loudness. Now, some 35 yrs later, "Nightfly", continues to deliver an enjoyable experience. That has improved since that first day when I brought my purchase home from CALDOR (Department store, long gone). My enjoyment of listening to this album, since first listening back in the day, has only improved. Best guess probably the best Four Bucks I ever spent.3 points

I picked up a Marantz SR-6011 from a forum member about a month ago. Love it. Because of the research I've been doing I've followed prices. A week ago Amazon had these at $1400 which I thought was a pretty good price. It just dropped to $1,000. My guess is the price drop is to clear inventory for the new models about to come out. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K1Z6M1O?tag=szix-soundandvision-20 +++ Edit: @dcbrown88I just read further and saw your budget is $1600. Would it be possible to pick up the 6011 which does a true 5.1.4 Atmos, and add a $600 multi-channel amp of some kind? Mr. @teaman is my consultant for all things SS amplifiers.3 points

Flat bottom is what the finished "Plug" will have, however the over hang on both sides gives me something to run the river rock into. Finished edge so to speak. stay tuned, it happens today w / pics....3 points

The word "Tooling" up the mold is old school fiberglass trade talk. This plug when finished will be the exact item/perfect fit. Plugs are made out of everything you already have laying around. So far this is scrap wood, Bondo/Resin to fill in the void is going in right now. The finished "Plug" will be set in a box and urathane is poured all around it. After the Urathane sets up you yank the "Plug" and there is your mold. Currently waiting for this old bondo filler to go off and then i will fill the rest of the void w / resin.3 points

Well who did it ? Yes we are aware, Klipsch never gave us much to go on with this, before it was allowed if it wasn't obvious. Except for the TOS we have nothing to go on. There is a section where moderators go when they think there is a problem, this was done so all can decide if something needs to be done instead of only one opinion. Chad is the forum admin, and is never here, have not heard from him for a long time. Cliques could be real here, there are alot of people posting, some are closer than others, are we expected to read everything and stop this ? If so, I quit and the others may feel the same. As far a moderating, no one gets special treatment, I wish everyone could see where the moderators talk about possible problems just for 5 minutes. How many people posting in many different threads and sections, what are the odds of 2 moderators and 2 helpers ability to form cliques, were lucky just to keep up with watching for bad words, pictures or political and religious post ? Want to know the truth, there are a couple members I would ban just because the aggravate me, but it's not up to just me and it's not fair just because I don't care for them, so I try to ignore it. Yes I have called people I do like, after deleting their post, just to say stop or you will be banned were tired of it, not really cliquish in my mind. Anyway I was out of town for days and came back to find out there was vote for new mods and they picked me and others. Everyone likes to post here and just enjoy, it kind of takes some of the fun out of it to be a mod, especially when we get blamed for things we can't control even if we wanted to. Anyone want my job, send a message to Chad, you can have it. Just so you know it pays nothing but you're expected to be responsible or at least take blame for whatever goes anyway people feel is not right. Oh and just so you know you are expected to reel in any of the hundreds of personalities and people trying to sell things, on thousands of threads. Sounds great doesn't it. If I don't post for many days at times, it's on purpose, sometimes I just say xxxxx it, I didn't sign up for daycare, thought it was adults.3 points

New triamp setup! The sound is absolutely incredible, better than any system I have ever heard hands-down. I can hear things in tracks I didn't know were there; I've heard more than one $200k setups. Custom made (by me): Canare star quad cables, power cables, rack enclosure and speaker cables using Neutrik SpeakOn connectors. FIR filters and time alignment done using a Xilica XD4080 fed via AES from JRiver Media Center (RME ASIO hammerfall driver, using a RME HDSPe AES‑32 card). These amps will beat ANY consumer grade amps available (at ANY price); at least when compared to S/N and distortion measurements I've seen or reviewers have measured (Audio Precision measurements by Stereophile: https://www.stereophile.com/content/benchmark-media-systems-ahb2-power-amplifier-measurements ).3 points

The sub crossover should be turned up to the highest possible setting when you are letting the AVR handle the crossover. By setting it to the max (150hz, or LFE sometimes), this let's the AVR control things, and doesn't limit the subs output at a particular point. So all the crossover duty is handled by the Denon. The setting knob on the sub is maxed so that the AVR can do what it wants with the sub. The sub is still protected because it's own crossover setting is still engaged at 150hz, but won't come into play because the AVR will cross it lower than that. Where you should cross your sub on the AVR is not simply where Audyssey picks, that is actually showing you the LOWEST possible crossover setting. Almost everyone likes a setting in the 80-100hz range, and some go as low as 40hz and a few as high as 120, 150 or even 200 (rare). To know what is "best", one must either use their ears, a measurement microphone, or both2 points

Without getting too technical ( which is a way of saying I have no idea about the technical aspect of it ), The servo is a motor that controls the excursion of the woofer to help reduce distortion .2 points

Stayed at LF's place last night so I could get an early start on washing, clay barring, and waxing the bubble. Finished in about an hour and it looks spiffy. Didn't drop the clay bar once! LF was off to play tennis in this heat/humidity She called afterwards to say the appliance store where she purchased he Green Egg called to say they were going to replace her cabinet/surround under warranty. The cabinet had been leaking allowing the charcoal to get wet and the finish on the counter had faded badly. Good news Since it's taco Tuesday we are meeting friends at K-38 Baja Grill tonight for Mexican cuisine. Jake is laying on the floor in AC with the ceiling fan going and says hey!2 points

If you can do without some of the most modern features of a new AVR, then by all means do this. I am all about amps with most speakers. Even the finest flagship AVRs today do not have the gusto that even a moderate multichannel amp has. This Outlaw Audio's entry level 5-channel amp is a prime example. https://www.outlawaudio.com/products/5000.html Bill2 points

High quality AVR, flagship or near flagship, with amp can be just be just about as good as pre/pro and amp combo. Bill2 points

Keep us updated on the 83s. I've always wanted to hear a pair, how you get them. There are 2 schools of thought on most important pieces in home theater, but if you can combine them, you're perfect. 1-the most important speakers in the home theater are the center channel and the subwoofer(s). 2-the main speakers should timbre match your center channel. Stick around, we will help you spend your money. Good luck2 points

Tired of the complaints about y'all, tired of the bullying, tired of the childish jr high school behavior. Do either of you have any idea how foolish you look and how sick everyone is of this? The position of the volume control is almost irrelevant. Some manufacturers design their volume knobs with a lot of fine control of the first half of their rotation, so it's easier to fine tune the volume in the range most people listen, most often. Some manufacturers design their volume pots so the volume gets real loud with a short spin of the knob. Gives the owner the impression there's lots of power left in the amp section. Don't sweat the position of your knob. And don't think dirty thoughts after reading the previous sentence!2 points

Your right Tarheel, and I hope to someday have it not just virtual but in person. There were some really sad threads, Boxx and OB were just two of them and yours, but there were many happy ones, like your puppy and most everything in this thread, one of my favorite places on the forum. There will be plenty more. Do you remember a nut called Horn ed or whatever his name was, he was out in California running a nudist colony. I do miss Fini, but I hear he's still on facebook, I'm not.2 points

I did have someone rip me off in person, actually their accomplice mugged me after I bought a computer. Your prices are excellent, sometimes that draws skepticism. I prefer not to ship and meet people in person. At these prices, I wouldn't want to deal with shipping either. If you were closer, they would already be in my home. Good luck with your sale.1 point
