  1. I didn't take this one, but what a great shot of the Blue Magpie.

  2. I'll get them in Sept ... If I have time, I'll stop and have a cup of coffee or something. Ceptorman is en route, too. I have a nephew in Indy also. I usually have to stop somewhere to keep from showing up at 4 AM in Elkhart. My sisters don't get up that early. And they don't like me sleeping in their driveway. Causes them to think I arrived dead.

  6. I have for sale a Cary SLI-80 Signature integrated amplifier. It is ~6 yrs old and I purchased it from an authorized dealer. It literally looks like a brand new piece of equipment when you take it out of the box. I cannot find a flaw at all. The amp comes with a set of stock Cary tubes which have around 600 hours on them. I have the double boxes, remote, manual, and all other information that was included with the original purchase. You've read the reviews and you know what this one is all about. 1950.00 OBO plus shipping.

  8. Thanks, my brother went with a Roku, but me and him are two completely different animals. There are some things here that neither of us want to do without. For now the bill will be $100 less for three months, then $80 less until 1 year then 20 less the second year. Plus a $300 visa for groceries and stuff after three months. Got Fox Sports South and Southeast so if the `Canes look sharp next year I'm covered, got movie channels for sleepless nights with kidney stones and that unnatural oxy___ or hydro___ anxiousness. Plus with the 1Gbs internet maybe the pc won't be frustrating sometimes and I'll start getting all of the "E's" coming my way again! Att was the only other option here right now, had to bail. Then there is the satisfaction of returning all the old providers equipment this Friday!!

  10. It's that last pesky 1200 miles out west that's keeping this from happening 😞 Stop by any time, I'm an early riser. Might bring your choice of coffee, my wife drinks the standard morning blend, then adds some flavored creamer.

  14. --- has anyone noticed the Royal Wedding - Happening This Saturday. Pilgramage weekend and on the Big Day at Rodney's. Perhaps the biggest flat screen in Hope can be wheeled in and with some pleas from the crowd, Rodney might possibly release some chickens to celebrate this "Earth stops spinning" moment. Gawd, I can't wait --- . And Willybob, a sarong might be in order !!

  15. I will definitely take your advice on this. Unfortunately, the guy with the Heresy's has yet to reply to me. If he does, and they have a pulse, they shall be mine. Even if on life support. Thanks, I've been having fun with my new hobby! I've been accused of that several times in my life, Emile! Occasionally it's even been true... I suffer from some really bad tinnitus, from a motorcycle tire blowing apart while I was filling it. It happened right next to my head. Sound pressure and healthy vocal ranges trump everything now, and brute force is needed to override the ugly chords that live in my head constantly. My days of aural discernment have been over for 25 years. Here are the new babies! (Not too bad for a C-note)

  16. Our youngest daughter lived in N Louisiana 5 hours away, I use to tell her she was my favorite since she lived the furthest, she knew I was kidding. After she graduated last year she moved back down here and started teaching. It's nice to have here back down here again and she seems happier, we see her much more now. She got a job at a school close to where our oldest daughter lives about 20 minutes from here and moved in with her since they have a few extra bedrooms and it's easier for work. She got a newer car and is saving and looking at different areas for a house. She went to school for teaching with an emphasis on handicapped kids, it's what she wanted to do. Although her present job is mixed students, some handicapped some not, I guess they mix them now depending on the disability ?

  17. For the 4.5 years my daughter was working in Seattle it was 2,150 miles away. I know just how far that is as I flew up and drove back with her. Flew 4 hours, hopped in her car about noon on a Friday, drove straight through (motels at night) and made it back Sunday evening. Great roadtrip. Stopped at Little Big Horn, Mount Rushmore, a casino in Kansas City and on home. Didn't eat in chain restaurants either, all local stuff along the way.

  19. Thanks for the info! I appreciate you taking the time, and I took your advice... The CF3's really are great sounding speakers, and we love them already. Suddenly we can hear what the people on TV are saying. It's fabulous. This was good advice! The Heresies (Heresi?) are rat rods. Some delamination in the plywood, bad black paint jobs, but both of them sound incredible. The serial numbers are 90T731 and 90T547. If I was correct in my reading, the letter "T" is for 1979? Anyway, I talked him down to $160 on the pair, and brought them home with me. Some carpenter's glue, clamping, wood putty, sanding, primer and paint will set them to rights. The sound was clear and VERY loud. Quite impressive for such small speakers. They weigh a ton, and I am guessing that there are some good sized magnets and horns. The grill cloth and frames seem to be glued in place, and the logo plates were glued to the top wood rail area, centered. All of this can be corrected, obviously. It doesn't matter to me how they look as much as how they sound. And they sound VERY good. They blow the Bose 901's out of the park.

  20. Normally I start an octave over the lowest frequency the speakers will go as the filter isn't a brick wall. Try 60 as well. Experimentation normally yields the best results. Welcome to the forum.

  21. All digital with spec um means wide black frame around the picture on your tv. Our 1020 16X9 55" was great five years ago, most every triple digit channel filled the screen with a great 120hz picture. Since then lots and lots of channel have not had that all important HD after the call letters.😆 Ask your brother about that and unfortunately time will tell for you! Collect your calm, peaceful thoughts, think adult-like (hard for me) and tell `em..... Take off...Eh?

  22. I probably built them...face the rear of one and to your left, follow the rear edge of that side panel up towards its miter-joint. About an inch below the joint if you see the letter "A", then they were built by me.

  24. I think the cable companies want their service to equal a monthly car payment! It's nice having it all on one bill every month but geez Louise it's getting insane... 😂😂

  25. And every time someone tells Spectrum to kiss off and they lose a customer, everyone else's bill creeps up to compensate for lost revenue.
    1 point
  26. Exactly. We had a free HD box with Time Warner and it worked well for quite some time. It finally went out and they sent a tech out to check it. No Charge as the equipment came with the plan. There was no charge for the tech visit as well. Next months bill came in and I was charged 10 dollars for the box rental which was free in the past. I called them up, they apologized and credited my account. They assured me it was handled. Next month, credit appeared and new charge of $10. hit. Called them back again and got the same apology, credit and assurances. You guessed it, 3'rd month, same 10 dollar charge. I was pissed as each time I call it's a 20 or 30 minute ordeal. This time they say it's due to the "upgraded" cable box. I told them I didn't want an upgraded box rather wanted my old box to work as it went out and the old box was free. Nope, all they have is new boxes and the bill stands even though my receipt from the installer showed no additional charges would be incurred. When we switched from TW to Spectrum, we were supposed to keep the same channels and the same price. Next day we lost a ton of channels. They said that their tiers were different than TW and there would be additional charges to receive the channels I used to have. After going up about 3 levels of customer service they gave them back..................................for 12 months. After my bill jumped up after 12 months I told them to shove it.

  27. I have OTA and a landline phone with Internet at 10 megs. Spectrum sends me an offer in the mail every third week. I believe that you all are paying for those mailers. I don't think they understand "No". JJK

  29. They all suck. And yes the price goes up every year. I call them up whenever i fell i need to be abused and ask "why did the price go up your service still sucks". They will never get it until we all cancel our service. End rant

  31. --- but there can be varying degrees of being vegetarian - in California one might eat kale, baby spinach, asparagus, broccoli, and all other manner of green, leafy things. In Arkansas one eats a 12oz. T-bone vs.16oz. and only 2 slabs of bacon per week vs. 4. It's all relative to ones environment ---.

  32. The antenna gives me ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, the CW and METV. All in 1080P. Dropping cable paid for all my OTA gear in 2 months. We have a bluray player and free netflicks. I pay for Tidal which my daughter uses and she pays for netflicks which I use. I've found out that we can actually live without 100+ channels of media as I don't have enough time to watch them all anyways. I also had the satisfaction of telling them to basically shove it when I cancelled service as they've been bending me over every chance they got for YEARS. There have been countless times of them either raising rates, cutting service or finding creative ways to charge you for something that you used to get included in the past. I had enough.

  35. Ok, so I snuck everything inside after everyone went to bed. I didn't go through calibration efforts, but quickly set levels similar to the mains. Sonically, it sounds ok and I'm sure proper calibration would tighten things up. The problem for me is placement.. I've got a 70" tv and the middle is at eye level when sitting down. I've gotten fairly used to the wide sound stage and imaging from running the La Scalas in phantom center mode and as such it sounds like it's coming from the center of the screen. Because of how low my TV sits the center channel is in horizontal position and just very easily localized well below the screen.. So I don't think it passes the "is it worth the effort" test. They may, however, find a permanent residence in my office, rather than unused out in the garage.

  37. The RF-83/RC-64 is one of the warmer front soundstages Klipsch has produced and I really recommend going and listening to what you're considering yourself. Some people prefer the warmer sound and insofar as quality is concerned it may be a lateral move.

  38. Bro?? I didn't know I had ticked you off. Did not mean to, was playin' around last week! Without being mushy or gay thought we had a www friendship! I"m alive because of LifeLink and Tampa General on Davis Island. Woke up with a new filter 3-31-01 there. I was upset that the Lightning didn't play to win, after the Pens didn't play to win, after my `Canes didn't play to win. Consoling myself with Frank, Dusty and Billy. ***I leave this up just for laughs, your pun hit me the wrong way after fighting with spec um on the phone then joining the underverse!! OH the shame! can't believe I just entered a contract with att. I know better than that!

  39. I had the RF-83 for many years and always liked how they sounded. The RF-7 II will have a bit more detail and will be brighter (in a good way). Check with @MetropolisLakeOutfitters to see how much he can get the RF-7 II for. He might be able to save you some money to make it an even easier decision.

  40. And let's remember, there are plenty of people using pro klipsch in their house, so the concept isn't too forum. I think the question here is if we can do a bit of calculated mixing and matching with a good deal
    1 point
  41. I did get curious, however, and set the pair up iny office on my little SEP tube amp and they sound pretty decent. Certainly not klipsch, but it might be close enough with that big horn and mid bass. It'll certainly be nice and clear for dialogue compared to little reference series center channels I've had in the past.

  42. No. My wife is having friends over on Wednesday morning and was less than pleased with my tinkering. So I packed it up before I could even start Audyssey calibration and assured her I would wait until after Wednesday before I turn the living room back into a laboratory.
