Today the plexiglass hood for the DQX 1000 was delivered. I had these made for me. The hood is only built on three sides, the back is open and closes with the wall. When I'm not using it I slide it over the tt. A Plexiglas hood to put over it would not have worked.it would also have to have milled holes for the phono cables and I had to rebuild the granite rack.6 points

I drive till the low gas light comes on. I can no longer fill up. Pump cuts me off at $125. Until recently it was always between $65 and 85. About 6 weeks ago I got my last full tank for $116. None of it bothers me in the least. I'm really quite sick of the chit chat on TV every four or five minutes about gas prices. Who around here is truly going to change their life for the difference between three and five even $10 a gallon? Some of you spend several hundred on a single tube for your multi-thousand dollar amp. This is the thread that proves the excess. Guilty myself. I truly feel bad for the people it's making a 20 or 30% difference in their weekly budget. But for most people I know it's just a reason to b!tc#. Not directed at you @Tarheel in any way, just a general observation of the noise out there the last several weeks Back to your normally scheduled programming, old man shaking fists rant over.4 points

They played Xanadu three times I saw them, the best was the time immediately preceding "Exit Stage Left" They were one of three bands that put out double live albums right after I saw them. Teddy, REO and RUSH, their shows sounded every bit as good as their live LP in our Chrome Dome Coliseum!3 points

I finished refurbishing a pair of 1996 Forte ii I picked up from Craigslist for $480. Rebuilt crites crossovers and added Dynamat sound dampening material to the midrange horns, tweeters, and on the insides. They were painted black and I stripped off the black paint. Sanded and oiled them. I'm driving them with a Decware Zen 2watt amplifier. Using a Bluesound Node 2i for streaming. I am blown away by the rich full bass. They almost sound better than my 1990 La Scalas!2 points

If you look closer you will see this mod doesnβt share anything with the New Jubilee since the ports mod are loaded directly by the room while the New Jubilee ports are actually horn loaded and then the horn is coupled to the room this is what is unique and why Roy was able to patent the concept. This mod is actually close in concept to past designs such as Altec A7 for example. miketn2 points

If you are using the 335 and 325 networks, those are meant to have an exaggerated mid because they go behind a screen in a cinema. the 396 networks are essentially flat but do allow for an exaggerated low end when played on the floor. Typically 396βs are flown and donβt have much of a plane to load the bass. just thought Iβd give you a little more insight on how the networks are designed for these particular speakers.2 points

so you fire the RP 600 M II with your little monotubes and the SB 3000 is an active sub ? Not bad for a PC Audiosystem2 points

Just did my first recones - couple of Jensen P15LL. The surround/suspension on these all paper aftermarket cones seem substantially stiffer than OEM. I know they will break in (and I have been pumping them with ~50hz for a while), but even with this I think they will be overly stiff. Anyone have any suggestion for loosening them up? Like a chemical that very mildly degrades cellulose?1 point

Thanks my friend. Yes gas is a nice prize these days. Luckily I drive very little.1 point

It's tinned. I'll get more pics up, it fits kinda tight inside the plugs. The screws are hard to get aligned to re-screw once out!1 point

I want to say I've had the ProMedia 2.1 system for probably a little over a year now. I absolutely love how much power they have and the bass that the subwoofer provides. However, in the middle of using them today, the system shut off entirely. I've checked the wiring to the satellite speakers, the input to the preamp, plugged the subwoofer into several different outlets, nothing works. I'm not sure what happened as I was just watching YouTube at a normal volume of around 25%. Did a fuse blow in the system or something? I sent a support ticket into Klipsch but I'm sure I'm out of the warranty period by now seeing as I don't have the receipt from Walmart anymore. I really don't want to open up the subwoofer until I get a response from Klipsch but at this point. Really disappointed that these have failed after just over a year of ownership with no hard usage. Any support and/or help would be appreciated!1 point

Everyone should have a cannon problem. Just don't get into a pissing contest to see who's got bigger/heavier balls, these are 2 1/2" and I understand lead. AND, I've got nine of them free in hand, and one stuck. I hate stuck balls.1 point

I have been up for 16 hours . Early in the morning I cut back trees with a chainsaw, then cleaned the balustrades with a high-pressure cleaner. When they were done, I trimmed shrubs back into shape with an electric hedge trimmer. In the meantime, workmen started to cover the balcony in front of my music room with a new wooden floor. The site manager promised me the completion by tomorrow. In the late afternoon he realized that he had ordered far too few wooden panels. It is missing about 50% of the area. On my question how he could miscalculate so, after all, he was here a few weeks ago and has measured everything, he could not answer me. Now I have to wait at least 14 days until the new wood panels can be delivered. After that I had assembled two new recliners and planted a pine tree. Than a little Nationsleague watched to relax. Germany beat Italy 5 : 2 I think it is enough for today .........................1 point

You need to find Zach's Hot Dogs and eat there! It's moved from downtown Burlington where it was fifty years ago, but their chili is still the same I remember as a kid. Nice folks there last year when I ate there last, and their fries, slaw, onion rings are all great! Nope, not affiliated. Just eaten there since I was two feet tall! Not 40 cents anymore but it isn't $$ either. My lifelong collection of stuff is to the west of there think you're w, sw still. https://www.zackshotdogs.com/history.html1 point

Hi Jim, With Your speakers you will need subs to use a real low powered amp and achieve good SQ, maybe look for a used low powered amp cheaper and go from there. If you want to really reach the pinicle of SQ with your speakers get a good DSP and go all active you will never look back!!!1 point

See that's where his statement is ridiculous. Nothing means anything without a point of reference. It's like saying a ball of string is 20 ft. long. Yeah, you might want 200 watts if you are using them as PA speakers at a football game. But for listening to music in a home environment, not necessary. And I don't care how loud you listen, not necessary.1 point

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EC_Regulation_No._1275/2008 Could it be that the latest regulations related to cutting down co2 emission require that the standby/sleep mode can no longer be turned off? The Fives are a 'global' product so they'll make sure the product is complient for all markets. Or perhaps it is just Klipsch' contribution to saving the planet! Just my two cents...1 point
