  1. Hi, by the way I forgot to ask: I don't know if @MicroMara knows this artist from her country, she made the green disc on my photo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jutta_Hipp https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/25156516-Jutta-Hipp-With-Zoot-Sims-Jutta-Hipp-With-Zoot-Sims ☺️

  2. This is a tough one to post. I need some space and some funds for a project. JC built all these and they are all amazing I have tons of hours on these and have had them for many years in multiple configurations. I don't want to part with them but they need to sing and I need a little cash. Pair Tractrix horns 60hz-600hz straight. Black needs a fresh coat of paint and some clean up. There is a crushed corner on the dog house but it came like that I never fixed it. These come with four Eminence Delta Pro-12A 12" Cast Frame drivers. These horns sound amazing..... Pair Snail Horns you can load these with anything from 12" to 18" woofers. These come with four Klipsch K31 drivers. Pretty low up to about 300-350hz Pair of mid Tractrix Horns no drivers and need to do your own mounting plate. I have 4 different mounting adapters you can have two jbl and two not sure but could be helpful. I have a pair of round tractrix tweeters but they are offered to a local diyer for free. If he turns them down I'll offer them for free as well. 6 horns 8 drivers $1000 for all of it and They are dusty and need cleaning up I just didn't have time. Pickup only Little Rock

  5. An unknown female jazz pianist for me , can imagine that it was quiet difficult to play her jazz music while the nazis ruled germany. Jazz was a forbidden genre at that time. So she left the country like Alfred Lion & Francis Wolff the founder of the famouse BlueNote Lable in NY, finally they contracted her to record some of her amazing jazz music.

  6. Good, smooth sax in there @mustang_flht. That's going to be my listen this evening with a shot! This recording lets us hear the air from the sax being heard with the right timbre as if it's with me now! I'll be listening for the keys to se if I can hear them later.

  7. Those days are gone. People have become so political now that you can't even talk politics. Let's not forget that even Amy banned politics. That was close to the time she decided to pursue a new path. She made the infamous "BS Forum" as a hidden room for veterans who liked to debate and jab at each other. It was good for a while. But even then, there came points when people would go in to play with the riff-raff in BS and come out bruised and threatening lawsuits. All of this was just a matter of time. There really is no place for it on a reputable manufacturer's forum. Let's get real. Do we really add value to Klipsch? I sort of doubt it. Nobody needs to read all of our crap - like this very thread - to find plenty of evidence that Klipsch speakers are good. And on the other hand, I don't lurk here to wait for speaker virgins to come asking how good Klipsch speakers sound. So, that makes me pretty worthless around here I guess... Duke, it's nice to see you back. For that matter, same goes to all you old farts who never left...

  9. There is more to the problem than just the change in inductance caused by the ferrous mounting screw. You are effectively changing an air-core inductor into an iron-core inductor. That increases the inductance, but the iron core is subject to hysteresis and saturation when the current through the inductor is high. Hysteresis causes asymmetry in the waveform while saturation causes the inductance to change near the peaks in the waveform; both of those count as distortion. This is the reason that audiophiles prefer air-core inductors.

  10. Thanks Ed. They have an interesting history. Michael Colter @colterphoto1 might be some help regarding the needed transformer. He rarely haunts these forums anymore, but a PM to him might get his attention. Good luck.

  11. The back story is quite lengthy. Short version: they were originally bought by me, (I still have the warranty cards) in the late 70's/early 80s. A lot of music went thru those cabs. I distinctly remember doing the house mix for 3 Dog Night in 1981. I measured 111 dB SPL at a Biamp 1642 mixing console (that I desperately need a transformer for & cant find any donors); the board placement was 70 feet from the speakers...backed out all of the limits and protection....The La Scalas took the abuse but I DID blow 3 JBL 2220's...). EDIT (I neglected this part): Many years went by and I lost them due to a job change. More years went by and I found all of them banished to a basement. I inquired about getting them and they are now back in my possession!!! Plans? First, I need to get them cleaned out and the 15's inspected. I have found that I need to replace 2 tweet diaphragms (will order from JEM), and plan on recapping the AA crossovers. On the LSI's, I an thinking of polishing up the exterior skeleton aluminum trim. The fiberglass mat looks ok; might do a quick coat of clear. On the other 4, a light sand and repaint with a highly recommended good grade of paint (paint brand yet to be found out, any thoughts?) is on the things-to-do list. Once I get the LSI's sorted out I will probably put them on the market. The other 4? Not sure. Might sell 2 of the 4 if someone makes me an offer I cannot refuse, def keeping 2 for sure.

  14. Proud father of a new pair of Axi2050’s that will get married to my K402’s this weekend. Needless to say very excited. Looking for an .xdat file or DSP settings I can input to my XILICA manually. Thanks to @Chris A I. Am now a “somewhat” competent XILICA user now understanding variables. I know it’s a small group but any JubScala owners out there using the, Axi2050? I will ultimately ring out my room with REW (hopefully with @Chris A) but wanted to at least get some music flowing with my new drivers this weekend. The great information I am using for my JubScalas with K69/691 is great but would think most everything changes with the, Axi2050. Including crossover points. Thanks again to the Forum for such quality coaching, insight and expertise to quickly get me going. @Islander fellow JubScaler. you get into the Axi2050’s yet? Or know anyone. Thanks. Mike

  16. Yeah there are some cool ones out there I have HP, Tektronix, and a sencore. The sencore is cool because it can measure voltage at the same time but you wouldn't want to tie up that scope for one purpose. I really like the tektronix scopes. There are lots of them and they are affordable. I am rebuilding my workbench from scratch which should be fun.... lol scary.....

  18. You guys are amazing. Just to see, I am going to do the test as described above with various non-magnetic crews, the original magnetic screw and a piece of duct tape. I will report the results if I can discern any aural enhancement/detraction.

  19. My forte ii looked similar when I got them 8 years ago. Look the same now. Sound as they should and I like the grilles on, so I’ve never touched them. They lived their life in FL, and at least the last couple years in a garage before the owners wife made him get rid of them. I assume it’s just from the humidity.

Many years of many people exchanging information, ideas, opinions and being helpful to people who buy Klipsch speakers.

  24. Well said Neil (and others). It used to be a "community". Like minded people helping each other with our little hobby (loving our Klipsch speakers) Now its google info answers instead of real world experiences. Met many good guys here, had several to my shop. Time marches on. Just disappointed to loose what was a good place to visit. Even more disappointed that Neil didn't mention me in the OP, but hey.....

  25. I haven't bought any new Klipsch in a long time..... or posted here......but...... it was time to replace my computer speakers in my home office. The Promedia Heritage really caught my eye, so I thought what the heck? Ordered today from the Klipsch website - looking forward to receiving and trying out.

  26. Hi, I live in Brazil and and here on sale they are roughly priced the same, around 330 dollars. I have a receiver in the living room with my 5.1 setup and an Oled TV. At my bedroom there's a projector but the only sound I have here is a pair of Edifier speakers. Which are fine.... but I could have better. And the thing is, my room is a wall neighbor to my living room, and my receiver has 3 different zones, meaning I can hook up speakers here. So I was thinking which (if either) is the better option. PS: I dont think I can fit a subwoofer here. And I definitely can't fit floorstanding speakers.

  27. True. Just pointing-out the potential pitfalls of using a ferrous bolt to secure an air-core inductor, in the generic case. In the specific case that you describe, the biggest problem would probably be the change in inductance.

  28. Here is what I used to setup as curve tracer. Being able to step through caps and parts while in circuit is invaluable tool. Here is a terrible pic of mine. It is also fun to restore scopes of course it helps to have one as a curve tracer to start with.... Check your craigslist I bet there are a handful to choose from.

  29. I did that to my center channel Heresy so it matches my Type AA La Scalas as much as practical. The Type AA filter EQs the driver a little, but the Type E network compensates for the K-77s response hump well enough and the auto former protects it well enough, too. You may not notice much difference.

  31. Mornin' all Frosty this AM.... boy got the water pump in his truck. He has an "extra bolt".... and lost a short 1/4" 24 for the fan. He ran into one bolt "being too long" by a quarter inch or so... It bottomed out 1/8 inch before it contacted the pump.... I kinda had to tell him ,"I told you so" after warning him several times. I did commend him for doing the work. We have yet to see how well it holds water. I suspect the "extra" bolt goes to a bracket.... attached at 2 points, one being point being a bolt on the water pump. IDK

  34. I'm definitely gonna try that (move it away, quoted the wrong post...), plus, I purchased some ferrite beads that you can wrap around the cables in different sizes, and I'm going to put some around evey cable to see if it helps. (You can find good one on a famous online shop, and it's very cheap.) Other than that, the sound is absolutely fantastic on this 2.1 kit. The bass is so much better than on my old Altec Lansing VS2121, on which the sub does not only restitute bass, but goes higher and reproduces some of the lower pitched instruments in a song!

  36. Recently, I was a bit surprised to discover the AA Network in the Klipschorn sounds perceptibly better to my ear with a steel screw (not stainless or brass) securing the .245mh inductor. It seems to give a little more energy to the lower treble that to my ear is necessary to that “magic Khorn sound”; with the brass screw it sounds a just a tad “too polite” (again, to my ear). My inductance meter shows .24mh (brass screw) versus .34mh (steel screw). I realize this post is going against the grain, so I was a little hesitant to post. If anyone is interested, the screw is a #8 1.5” steel Phillips pan-head.

  39. My lasagna recipe is pretty simple. It isn't a cheap build, though. a box of button mushrooms. 1 red bell pepper. 1 medium/large onion. 1 medium size zuke. 1 broccoli crown 2 cans petite dice tomatoes, 1 can tomato sauce. Salt, pepper, cumin, basil, oregano, parsley. slice/dice veggies and saute in olive oil. Add tomato, herbs/spices and about 1/2 can of water. Simmer 30 min [or so] Spinach - however you get it. can/frozen/fresh. 1 #3[?] bag of shredded mozzarella, a large carton of cottage cheese, ricotta is not readily available, stir one egg and a generous amt of parsley in the cottage cheese. Assembly Layer lasagna noodles -[ no need to buy "oven ready", plain ol' work just fine....no need to cook the pasta first. It will absorb liquid from the sauce.]- with sauce cottage cheese, spinach and mozzarella.... and then the next layer of pasta...3 layers deep should fill a deep 9 X 13 + a little... cover and bake @350`F 45min to an hour. When it starts bubbling. ------------------------------------ If you expand the sauce a little, not very much, you can fill a 9 X 9 pan also....

  40. In my humble opinion; the magnetic screws sound “better in” per my Khorns (a closer approximation to a live performance - “fidelity”). Maybe it was a 10+ year production mistake through the 1970s, maybe it wasn’t, but the bit of extra “oomph” in the lower treble makes a big difference, especially with vocals and acoustic instruments. When I took mine out, it robbed some of the speaker’s magic, so back in the screws went. Your mileage may vary, just do whatever sounds best to your ear. The 18db/octave slope should provide plenty of tweeter protection either way. (For a commercial La Scala you may actually want to err on the side of more tweeter protection and use brass screws.)
