  3. Hi all, I haven't had time to log in. We were evacuated from YK and made our way down to Peace River Alberta. All in all things have gone well. The cat traveled pretty well and the people in Peace River have been fantastic. Most went down to Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary. My wife has relations here and it is in northern Alberta so our turn around driving time will be less - only 11 hours or so. My wife is considered essential so we have been given the go ahead to return on Tuesday the 5th.

  6. Last night the weather was cool and clear and I slipped away from the house for a few hours to catch a Bob Dylan tribute show that was playing at the lounge downtown. Chrome Horse - The Bob Dylan Tribute The guy put on a good show and his Gibson sounded great. no four legged friends this time.

  7. We are good. Not much more than a a little past breezy(20mph) with intermittent downpours. At my house I have seen summer afternoon thunderstorms that kick up 60mph winds and drop 2 inches rain per hour. I guess we were blessed this time. Thanks for asking. Bill

  8. I just acquired a mint SX-780 for my office mini-system. Partly because I have never owned a receiver, and partly because the Pioneer stuff of that era is beautiful audio jewelry from an age that I really love. At the time I was digging Dynaco tube amps and PAS preamps and that sort of stuff and poo-pooed anyone buying a stinking reciever. Such a snob was I. I also bought a SA-9100 integrated and I am doing a full restore on it. Here's my epiphany about Pioneer gear of that era: Damn, it was well made, and I think very robust. The sound is just typical of SS gear of the time, and with my Klipsch RPM bookshelfs 1Watt is about all I ever use - - maybe 2 on a Sunday afternoon. I love the knobs, and the tuner works as well as any for my area with 3 FM stations. It's a bit like owning a '70 Imperial. (Which I would also do If I had a three car garage).

  14. Hate to hear this, he has some fun music, never been but they say the concerts and parking areas are crazy. But if you live long enough everyone you liked passes away. It's the way it goes, never ends, no one gets out alive.

  16. My friends and I were just camping west of Missoula, and we're talking about when he played as the house band in Livingston Montana, when they filmed the movie Ranch Delux there. Not only a wonderful musician, but a very astute business man. Bought his records in the late 70's through the 80's. Some fun tunes. " Yes I am a pirate, 200 years too late, the cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder, I'm an over 40 victim of fate, arriving too late, arriving to late. I've done a bit of smugglin' run my share of grass I made enough money to buy Miami but I pissed it away so fast Never ment to last never ment to last" RiP Jimmy.

  26. Sorry to dig up this very old thread, but I too am looking for information and schematics on the LSA Integrated Amplifier (Signature). I inherited one recently and there is a loud hiss when it's on with no signal. The amp works, but the hiss is about 50% of the sound regardless of where the volume is at. I believe it's time to replace the tubes. I have contacted Underwood Hifi and the local previous local importer here and neither could provide any assistance. I'm hoping I can find some instructions on how to do this.

  29. IIRC, my BIL, traveled throughout the South, as a peddler of industrial knitting needles. He was at a motel in Mobile after a long day, and after eating, visited the lounge... JB was there. He said he was awful... and then, a few years later he was doing alright and on the radio.

  36. I've been following the "re-animation" of this thread and I think I can help with some of this. I had saved some of the documents with DSP settings for the Underground Jubilee and the JubScala with K402/K-691 driver from this forum. I also have a settings document for the UG Jubilee with the TAD 4002. I'm not sure how current they are since I stupidly didn't document from which forum threads I had saved them. All of these have the PEQ settings defined in terms of Q instead of bandwidth. I will provide help with converting these Q values to Xilica Bandwidth numbers below. Finally, I took the Xilica XDAT file posted earlier (Cory_master jubilee-both channels.xdat), imported it into XConsole, and took screenshots of all the settings so that there is a "human-readable" document of them. The settings in the XDAT match up quite closely (but not exactly in some cases) with the PDF document with the exception of the 32 Hz bass boost which has a larger Q in the XDAT. All of these are attached. With respect to converting Q values to Bandwidth values, there are a number of calculators on the internet such as this one: http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-bandwidth.htm. However, to make it even easier than plugging one number at a time into a web calculator, I used the calculation methods from this page (https://www.astralsound.com/parametric-eq.htm) to create Microsoft Excel formulas. That way you can do the conversions in bulk in a spreadsheet. To Convert Q to Bandwidth in Excel (replace A1 with the cell location containing the Q value) =(LOG((2*(A1^2)+1)/(2*(A1^2))+SQRT(((((2*(A1^2)+1)/(A1^2))^2)/4)-1)))/LOG(2) To Convert Bandwidth to Q in Excel (replace A1 with the cell location containing the Bandwidth value) =(SQRT(2^A1))/((2^A1) - 1) KPT-KHJ-KF AND K-402-hf with k-691.pdf LS AND K-402-hf with k-691.pdf Klipsch Jubilee-TAD 4002 - EV Dx38 Settings 2 Oct 2014 (1).pdf Cory_master jubilee-Xconsole_screenshots.pdf

  39. I listened to this Joe Jackson album, Look Sharp, with the hit Is she really going out with him? The music is great, and JJ was 22 back then, which is amazing if you ask me. This must be among the most stylish album covers out there... The mixing is very punk like and 'in your face'..

  41. I've been moving some of my gear around in the house and this is what is in my writer's den is now: my vintage, original state Harman/Kardon 430 'twin powered', a vintage Onkyo turntable and Onkyo speakers (from the 1980s), my Pro-ject George Harrison special edition turntable. I'm still on the fence about whether or not to hook on my Klipsch RP160M speakerset as well (which are now in the bedroom). I know they work fantastic with the H/K!

  43. Filles de Kilimanjaro, haven't listened to it yet, but I know all the tracks except one, thanks to the Columbia QUINTET box set : https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/13814692-Miles-Davis-Filles-De-Kilimanjaro A very nice MOV Columbia reissue of 2019, Betty Davis / Betty Gray Mabry on sleeve : song Mademoiselle Mabry I noticed a small mistake on the central label of this MOVLP2384: Petits Machins mistakenly becomes Petits Machines, normally discs with "quirks or anomalies" become a little more sought after! 44. Miles Davis - Someday My Prince Will Like, a 2012 MOV Columbia reissue https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/3899880-Miles-Davis-Sextet-Someday-My-Prince-Will-Come It's nice to find the famous 6 eyes, like on the originals of the good years of Jazz A good read on the history of Columbia labels https://londonjazzcollector.wordpress.com/record-labels-guide/columbia-records/columbia-us-labels/ Who hasn't dreamed of the 6 eyes of the mono CL1355 from Kind Of Blue Heart >>>> https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/2252871-Miles-Davis-Kind-Of-Blue/image/SW1hZ2U6ODgxMzc2MQ== Back to Someday My Prince Will Come, it's a record from 1961, the last, it seems to me, of the sextet Miles Davis, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb, Wynton Kelly, Hank Mobley, John Coltrane (edit: actually the sextet is only present on the title track) Some reviews https://www.gutsofdarkness.com/god/objet.php?objet=5010 I discover the disc that I only knew by the cover and by the two (unless I am mistaken or forgetting on my part) pieces, Someday My Pince Will Come and Teo, present on the box set The complete Columbia Recording "Miles Davis & John Coltrane" . The woman on the cover is France Taylor, wife of Miles Davis at the time! 😄
