  2. An interesting story goes with these speakers as they came out of the Anaheim Disneyland Movie Theater. Years ago there was a theater remodel and I happened to be at the right place at the right time. In truth, a friend of mine was the leading contractor for the project and let me know of the possibility of acquiring them. So, that's what I did. I jumped in my truck and within 48 hours, I had em! In complete honesty, they're WAY TOO BIG for any residential situation unless you have one helluva LARGE house! They're in remarkable shape for their age. No gouges or scratched Duratex. I set them up once outside and literally "pissed on the neighbors". I live in the country and we neighbors are far apart. No resemblance to standard neighborhood living. After about an hour of Ozzy (and other key artists) my phone and driveway became rather ... busy? I only regret not giving the valley neighbors a heads up before the test trial. I only used my Marantz 2270 to test them out and they did very well. Needless to say, they're capable of many, many more watts. They are in fact, auditorium speakers. Comes with brand new OEM Klipsch crossovers. Tried uploading pics but ran into problems within the process. I will gladly send actual pictures to individuals via email upon request. If someone from within the forum doesn't claim them, I will resort to Las Vegas casinos (only one hour away from my So. Utah home) as a promising alternative. These certainly have the potential of becoming great band speakers. In truth, I'd rather someone from the community take them over. Thanks for reading.

  3. I'm the guy that bought them. Back in January, they were the very first set of La Scalas in this finish. Not sure if there are any more now, but sooner or later I'm sure someone else will order a pair in this custom finish. BTW, they look even better in person 😀

  4. Good morning/evening friends and CONGRATS Paul on picking adding that to you LP collection. I have that and 'Rattle that Lock'. I enjoy them both very much. Dreamy arrangements at times, and a tribute to the late Richard Wright. 🥲

  6. Then this surfacedl 25th Anni Edition is anywhere from 45-200$ new on Amazon. lol Glad I got mine a month or so ago. It's just soooo darn good! AllMusic critic Mark Deming wrote: "While King of California was often lumped in with the then-fashionable unplugged craze, in retrospect it was the album where Dave Alvin's abilities as a performer began to catch up with his gifts as a songwriter, pointing the way for his later albums Blackjack David and Public Domain."[1] Double gatefold and both lp's are killer!

  8. Great idea! They are already sitting on the slant risers. I think I will do just that, screw the risers in and then come up from the bottom with screws through the shelf. Perfect solution...at least the screws from the slant riser were meant to be there. Ha...my risers still have all the original screws stapled to it in a plastic bag. I am tempted to paint the riser black first.

  10. I know you said without screws…. Put slant risers on them backwards and use a small discreet safety cable from one of the rear cover screws.Or you could even screw through shelf into risers.

  12. I have been enjoying my CWIVs for the past year but have always wanted a little more bass. I’ve tried a Marantz PM 7000n - beautiful mids and highs but a little light on the bass. Marantz 40n- better bass, not sure if anything else was better. Old Yamaha rx450 with bass extension button. I like it. In my room the acorns need a little nudge to bring out the bass. I use the Yamaha for whole house audio in the same rack. Great reciever for cheap. HK 430-great bass. Flat on this is like 2-3 o’clock on my other amps. Nice warm sound. Great match! I swear I think the bass goes lower too. I only lament that I won’t have a remote now. sorry, just had to post about it since none of my friends care about audio. Lol. 😂

  15. Ah yes! Alternative facts. I have heard that somewhere, I believe it was coined by an inveterate liar. Because, right wait, I remember another saying that the truth isn't the truth. Relativism at its logical extreme leads the ignorant down the path of total confusion resulting in the complete maleability of their minds. Critical thinking is the first casualty, and studies have shown that one cannot change others opinions through the exposition of facts. We are living Orwell's nightmare of mind control through the bastardization of language.

  16. ezsdad, I have some older RF3s that I enjoyed for number of years. To imagine the difference in sound picture this. The CWIVs sound how they look like they would comparatively. The thinner towers sound great but…thinner. The Cornwalls sound big and beefed up with more midrange and body.

  18. let me preface this with me baking 2 loaves on one sheet pan... so, the loaves crowd each other... I made a couple loaves of bread that ... errrr...welll, I don't wanna sound too perv... but they were so smooth and plump/round and tan ... no tan lines... that I dare say, they were kinda sexy ------------- does that qualify as food porn? sorry - no pics

  19. Been a minute for this one. Actually, about an hour. 😂 Smokin' O.P.'s is the fifth studio album by American rock singer-songwriter Bob Seger, released in 1972 (see 1972 in music). The album was reissued on CD by Capitol Records in 2005. It is currently the earliest Bob Seger album available on CD. The cover art is a parody of the Lucky Strike cigarette logo. Smokin' O.P.'s refers to Smokin' Other People's Songs, a derivation on the slang phrase "Smoking O.P.'s" meaning to smoke other people's cigarettes exclusively (never purchasing your own for consumption). Most of the tracks on this release are covers of songs written by other artists. Gonna have to run this thru the VPI. It's filthy! Yuk! Oh well, just another pile. 😂

  20. Mounted in their final resting place...at least for the next 30 years. Beyond that, my sons will have a spot for them. Any ideas of how to keep them from falling without those ropes and without screws?

  22. Thanks for the reply, they are stamped on the back and they look similar but just feel different. I hooked them up and generally they sound good. Could be the age of the rubber with different storage conditions? Anyway I'm enjoying rebuilding them best to keep an eye out for parts here probably.

  23. They sold out of the Limited Edition MCL 905 in two months, probably most to Europe, but who knows. They were $16,000 a pair. They have sold thousands of other co-branded products like Lou Reed ear buds, and they even had some of those left over at the end. It’s hard to measure success of a limited/signature series product by what excess inventory they discount at the end. I think Corey managed to get the last 3 pairs of Forte’s, but who knows how many they made and sold before that? McLaren is a car company that has a racing division (F1 and GT). Their cars sell for $250K up to near 1 million. They make about 4,000 cars a year, by hand. I think they announced their 20,000th car made about 2 years ago. Papaya Orange (did someone call that yellow?) is trademarked (yes you can trademark a color) and is well known to those that travel in those circles. The McLaren dealership I was in had all of the smaller products in stock and on display, I don’t know if that was true everywhere. It is for certain a very exclusive market, and an uber luxury brand.

  25. I use Johnson's Paste Wax. Available at most hardware stores. Brush it on with a short bristle natural hair brush. Wait 15 minutes, rub it off with a soft cloth. I used 3 coats on my doors to get a soft sheen. Correction: I use MinWax Finishing Paste Wax, not Johnson's.

  34. I’m not sure, I’ll have to try the tone generator app on my phone. They do sound marvelous and I was shocked at how flat the response was when I measured them. I need to mount the horns properly. I think the dip at 8.2kHz was a reflection off the top of the cab.

  42. I want to check in and let everyone know how much your good wishes, love, friendship and support mean to us. The physical and emotional recovery is taking much longer than I anticipated. I have some memory loss and some every day tasks have become a little difficult. The bruising was rather significant and I’m still in quite a bit of pain. Emotionally I find it difficult to drive or to be a passenger in a vehicle. Panic attacks are now rather common when I’m forced into either of those situations. For many years I have said how blessed we are to have found this forum. The friendships we’ve made here through the years are undoubtedly the best. We’ve experienced so much with the members here, deaths, births, sickness, accomplishments and more importantly love for one another. Again, thank you doesn’t seem to be enough.
